I don’t think mine had a leak but the valve on the right was stuck open and messing up my timing. Don’t forget the change the oil feed line if you have a turbo they get clogged easy.

Thank you for highlighting the difference between in. lbs of torque & ft lbs bcz I broke a bolt on the block earlier this year not knowing the difference. I’d hate for someone to make the mistake I made. I called 10 ppl & one mechanic said to use two metal picks to manually unscrew the bolt & I was astonished to see that worked. No need to weld or drill like everyone else was telling me to do. Anyway great video bro. Thank you for saving us all money!

Thanks for the great video! Huge help just did this tonight-one comment for anyone doing this- since cover is off make sure the plastic orange timing chain guide bolts are on tight and the guide is not loose this causes horrible rattling sound. Better yet unscrew those bolts, clean and add blue thread lock and screw back in.

Something that is overlooked and you still see leaks after replacing valve cover. Replace the oil cap with a new one and replace the 2 o rings on the oil dipstick. The orings on these parts get hard and don't hold leaks.

I've a big problem, the story starts with a change of the PVC valve, as showed by the scanner, it looked like an easy job, it wasn't, now lots of oil keeps coming out of the cover, I serviced 4 times the gasket job and the car is doing a lot of oil leaking, I've done it following advice from many mechanics, tutorial and manual, but the issue is persistent, car is useless, can somebody help?

Did you replace the valve cover and the gasket? The mating surface needs to be clean, however when you cleaned it did you accidently score the surface? Pay attention to where the oil is leaking from and when removing the valve cover, observe if the surface is damaged. You may have dug into the surface too deeply with a razor blade. Perhaps try some permatex gasket maker on that specific spot attempting to fill the gap, but don't forget to reclean the surface first and reapply the gasket market at the gap between the timing block lip (as shown 7:58). If that is not the case and it has continued leaking since, observe from where again, likely guessing between the timing block edge, so try black or gray permatex. I've had some JB Weld stuff that didn't do so good myself.

I have started to eat almost a whistling noise under the hood. It comes in and out when I’m on and off the pedal. I was suggested it could be a valve cover.

you can cover the diaphragm with your hand if the noise goes away then that would mean it needs replacing. go with a oem dealer valve cover the aftermarket covers are not good

would a bad diaphragm cause my 2012 chevy cruze 1.4 LT to start over heating on idle? My fan works and i just replaced my thermostat. I hear a slight hiss by the diaphragm...but not sure how loud its supposed to be

@@ERICSDIYGARAGE so a hose broke about a month ago and obviously lost some coolant. I replaced the hose and just filled up the reservoir tank. I didn’t remove the bleeder screw on the radiator…that was a month ago..just yesterday it started to overheat on idle. So would air in the cooling system show symptoms right away or could it take time…also would a bad turbo cause cooling issues. I also have a code P0599 which has been on since march2021I replaced the thermostat and the code is still there…could it be an electrical issue causing a bad reading?
