The Balkan Lynx is a critically endangered species with only 40 individuals left in the wild. This beautiful and elusive cat is found in the mountainous regions of the Balkan Peninsula, and is known for its distinctive ear tufts and spotted coat. The main threats to the Balkan Lynx are habitat loss, poaching, and hunting.
Efforts are underway to protect this rare species and increase its population through conservation measures, including habitat restoration and anti-poaching initiatives. As one of the most endangered wild cats in the world, the Balkan Lynx serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of protecting and preserving our planet's rich biodiversity.

It's an introvert and I respect dat
An introvert that actually can live by itself
Human introvert cannot live by itself because whatever they do to stay alone they will communicate and need others help
Like shopping to get food or ordering
Medical helps and other
@MsMissy no they meant dat
@furrietgdmobileplayer3672 but the lynx does socially interact to eat its food
"Oi come here I kill you with stealth" Said the lynx while it mauled its prey
@msmissy6888r/whoosh
Dat.. are you dutch or something
How very sad we are about to lose another species😢 I really hope that they're protected and saved!
I hope so too :( I love lynx, they are so beautiful.
If you look past the war and hatred for each other, the Balkan Peninsula is one of the most beautiful places on Earth
At least there is peace (for now?)
I've been to Croatia, Slovenia, Serbia, Greece and Montenegro, and all of then where very beautiful
@@Polska_Edits well, we may not be directly at war (which we'll see how long that lasts) but the tensions are definitely still there
My fiance is Croatian, and I definitely want to visit.
@@kelliewhyte_85 I'd highly recommend you visit Dalmatia as soon as you get the chance
Personally, don't know this. Just hope the people realize what a precious creature this is. That their willing to do what's needed to keep this animal from going extinct. ♥️
I hope we're doing everything possible to save this incredibly beautiful cat!
Imma make sure they don’t go extinct and y’all in that chat better make sure too
Yea
How?
@@SewingTsuni by learning more about em
@@Elephantguyinthefore555 Turns out that Balkan Lynx Recovery Programme has been doing this since 2006.
@@Elephantguyinthefore555 Oh I definitely agree, I was just informing you that something existed for it 🙂.
The Balkans have some of the most stunning Animals and Nature in All of Europe, this Lynx is a testiment to that
While it's not my favourite Eurasian Lynx, it's certainly up there.
Seeing the Lynx at the end limping is so sad 😢
In my native Romanian 🇷🇴 language, the Lynx is named "Râs", an homonym for the english word "Laugh", because as you can see, the face of the lynx looks like he is Smiling. 😊
I’d love to meet a trapper one day….imagine that you have to kill to make a living instead of learning a trade or going to college…and I don’t want to hear this shit about no jobs or no career opportunities…everywhere in the world needs people to work and support an economy
The fact that I’ll be telling my kids, “that animal was around when I was your age” breaks my heart.
Y’know, if they go extinct ;(
Yes and sadly before the end is terrible too with the lack of genetic material to exchange the species becomes inbred…. Cheetahs having this issue now I believe. Hopefully since these cats so stealthy there’s more than 40.
Yeah…
Survival of the fittest
@@brianphilbrook5262 yes and no. As part of nature (we are the animal species Homo Sapiens) we can take them and prevent their extinction if we want to.
Their cuteness or other traits would have appealed to us humans which lends in favor for their survival. In a way, if we prevent their extinction, their "fitness" was due to "appealing" to human beings.
**extinct in the wild. There's still plenty in zoos and habitat sanctuaries. And there's still a chance for a population boom to the point where they can release them back into the wild.
Those poor kitties...man i would seriously slay a mofo trying to hunt or hurt them.
God-made so many beautiful and incredible animals in this worls and us the humans are destroying everything how sad😕
Beautiful linx it better be on the endangered species list!
I think these linx’s are being hunted for their beautiful fur coats. I may have seen them as hats also. This area of the world doesn’t care about protecting anything. It furs make them money, well it’s open season 365 days every year. Terrible!
This animal could be SO EASILY PROTECTED!! "someone" with the ability could simply start a GO-FUND-ME to protect them. & offer the poachers PAYMENTS EQUAL to their Poaching amount!! TO PROTECT THEm FROM OTHER POACHERS RATHER THAN participating & KILLING THEM FOR THEIR FUR!!! This same thing has worked and helped to stop the poaching of so many elephants for their IVORY!!
It's not true; you're just judgmental and think watching a 40 sec clip makes you informed. Lynx (ris) is a strictly protected species with programs in place to increase their population. For reasons too complex to explain in the comment, but has to do with animal's lifestyle and genetics, there are difficulties and process is slow. Balkans is gorgeous area, with lots of untouched and unspoiled places, many national parks and natural reserves and cleaner and more environmentally friendly lifestyle than lots of places.
Muskgrave…crickets!
Why does this Lynx's face remind me of The Nothing from Neverending Story?
I hope conservation efforts will help increase it's population or unfortunately it seems like it will go extinct. 40 individuals is really not much.
There is enough of them left. Running around the CNPP and Exclusion Zone chasing after me and taking out my ankles.
Balkan lynx, along with iberian lynx, is highly protected, they are going extinct beacuse of high poach and habitat loss, their relazives the euroasian lynx however are thriving in balkan regions
Greeting from serbia
Why is he limping. Some bastard trapper.
seriusly, can we have a cool animal that people ARENT KİLLİNG
humans are just the worst
For God's sake, please do what can be done to protect this animal. I would do what ever I could do to do to save this animal😫
Habitat loss and as it looks.... trapping!!!
Shouldn’t they have a breeding program set up for them that they can boost the numbers of these majestic animals and then they can release them to the wild and hopefully we can see them grow again in numbers!
Captive breeding programs don't work well for release when there is habitat loss. There isn't enough land for them to be released into.
@@EscapingMidnight24 I hadn’t thought of that, guess I just wasn’t thinking. I wish I knew how to help them!
😢It's the saddest thing. We have ruined this beautiful blue planet
Damn, that's a beautiful animal, dangerous but man , that's one beautiful cat.
We must protect them at all costs !!! 😭😭😭
They should be protected and saved!!!!
Subhanallah!
At least I am pretty thankful that they took the injured one into their care not in the wild, all the wild life documentaries should do the same to the injured wild cats, rather than leave them die in misery & painful death
They really are.such beautiful creatures and it broke my heart that they've become an endangered species now... 😔💔
sad I never saw it in my country. They are probably very endangered there :(
Nooo, i can not believe this!
Let's save this brave pal, and let it thrive in its habitat🏞️🌲🌳
long live the LYNX !!!!!
How can we prevent them from going extinct?
I hope this animal makes a comeback
Did u see the sick videos of americans hunting this creature and laughing? I rather see americans go extinct.
I loooooooove big cats!!!❤❤❤❤
it a big baybeh kat :3
With that small number it's questionable if there is even enough genetic diversity to rebuild the population.
Beautiful animal! Hope the population gets higher.
And oh yeah the Balkan lynx is the national animal of Romania
"A true beauty of the natural world"
The true beauty: *bobbing his head like he's beatboxing in the forest*
beautiful
May god save this beautiful animal for posterity.
Let’s hope we don’t lose this beautiful animal! We already lost the Vaquita, we were too late.
I wanna smooch their little faces
The rabbit had the "oh fuck" look on his face
Khajiit has wares, if you have coin
Lynx is my favorite animal!
Madam, 👌👌🌼🌼
They are more lethal than any other cats. 💀
It’s so beautiful! I can’t believe it’s going extinct.
Also SN red fox is at this chance of extinction like this lynx.😢
Welp, that's another one for the "soon-to-be-extinct" list, boys!
The human race is truly outstanding, *isn't it?*
I’m a lynx Therian :3
Hmm let’s see why MOST animals in this world either are extinct or close to it…HUMANS. US, PEOPLE. Humans are such great things aren’t we huh.
Remarkably, the related Eurasian Lynx is being considered for reintroduction to Britain!
Tbh I feel like that would cause a lot of problems regarding people, some would still wander off and attack people or pets considering they're so large
The Balkan Lynx is the Eurasian Lynx. It's a subspecies of the Eurasian, like the Siberian Lynx.
Beautiful and amazing animal.
"Zoos are bad for animals!"
The Balkan lynx: literally going extinct from homelessness
Some zoo's have breeding programs that are good .but with these cats not enough for a gene pool
Please please bearded dragon! Day 31 of asking i think
*Balkan Lynx number is only 40
Industrialisation, Deforestation, Housing, Large Castles, No afforestation
Europe ☕
Hates others
Oportunistic hunter
Nearly driven extinct
Yeah, sounds balkan enough
Make a program for them!!!!
Is that a big cat????? I heard thet get along and become a snack to lions AND tigers
wow man
Only 40 left... That's terrible 😢😢😢
Lynxes are my favorite animal. I’ll be crushed when they die out …
Pretty soon it won't be nothing but humans, cows, chickens and cows. 💀
That’s a Eurasian lynx (lynx lynx) there is no such thing as a Baltic lynx, through conservation efforts the Eurasian lynx has been released into the balkans and south as far as Croatia.
Indeed what a majestic animal. Such a shame that there are only 40 left.
in the wild
@@haroldgōdwinessunu That's where they belong. Not in a zoo. For breeding purposes maybe, but they don't belong there.
@@johanb.7869 zoos provide a place to learn about animals and to study them, which is often hard in the wild
@@haroldgōdwinessunu I know, but I want to see them in their natural habitat. They need to be free.
@@johanb.7869 The only zoos I am ok with are the ones that take in animals that cannot go back into the wild or ones that have captive breeding for some animals(depends how many are left). Ones that take them out of their homes for no reason are the ones that I hate.
the ears gave me ✨FLOPPA✨ vibes
Its terrifying how we loose all the nature beauty because of criminals, hunters and other dregs.
All lynx are my favourite 😢and I don’t won’t this one to leave
BROS REALLY MAJESTIC😅💀💀
So beauiful
If they were the size of tiger they would be magnificent
There are Efforts being made in Albania to keep the species from not going extinct however international funding and personnel is needed to make sure efforts succeed on keeping the specie alive. Such a majestic creature
Beautiful authorities should protect them
😢 poor thing 😞😔 2in life 🧬 besides.
That coat!!😻😻😻😻
looking at what albanians are doing in the uk, they will probably eat these cats
It seems like can be found on my Bulgaria only!
Damn that one pretty cat . Looks very majestic .
I wonder if it can recover like the Iberian lynx.
What if authority and NGO's involved in conversation of these endangered species can collect sperms and ovam (egg cells) of these species and store them in proper conditions then it can also help in conservation of there species in long run
The face looks so much like a cheetah, it’s uncanny!
What is wrong with that cats paw? Was it caught in a trap?
Beautiful cat!❤😢
Me: Thats GyLala
This is my FAVORITE animal
Me while living in Serbia: *Damn i wish i pet that thing*
There is zero chance there are only 40 of them in the wild. I saw one close to my village in central greece last easter
Looks like a floppa😂
cat + cheetah fusion be like :
I wonder if it also hates serbs
My spiritual fav animal
Just looks like a bobcat
Save the Balkan lynx!
Pls no mor killing lynx
So beautiful ! Humans !!!! Save them !
It looks like a bobcat.
❤ l'animal que j'aime bien 😮
