Robert Smith had the most iconic Hairstyle and look of the 80s and 90s, he was the principal influence for the Tim Burton's film Edward Scissorhands, for Eric Driven in The Crow movie..... and one of the finest songwriter of his generation
The 80's had some amazing bands. Explore more music from this NEW WAVE time in music. 🤞✌

Good song. I have a few live audio bootlegs of The Cure in my files. Might have to transfer one to the phone so I can play it in the car driving around this week.
The Cure never disappoints.. keep up listening to them.. that's the whole rabbit hole
😏👍
Best song of The Cure.
40 + years flew by.. back in the day, on cassette of late 70's and 80's.
pre 1985 'Three Imaginary Boys' (1979)
Quincentennial The Cure celebrated 40th anniversary with a gig at London’s Hyde Park :)
one of the eternal hits of the cure. Hugs from Colombia 🇨🇴! 🙋
This song is beautiful
I really suggest a reaction about the live "Show" version. So darker and haunting.
Dobra stvar i dobra teakcija
hey !!! now I'm 20 again !!! ( i wish ) - fun fact : listen to "siamese twins" from their 1982 LP "Pornography" ; you'll notice it's the exact same riff as "a night like this" .... but a totally different song !!! - If you like the very dark side of the Cure check their "dark trilogy" 3 LPs "seventeen seconds" ; "faith" and ""pornography"
'A Night Like This' was the last UK single to play at the famous Queens Hall, Leeds in the late 80's

In a lot of ways, The Head On The Door (1985) marks the beginning of The Cure’s best period that’s marked by this album, followed by Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me (1987) and Disintegration (1989). The Cure reinvented itself several times. It started as a great postpunk band with Three Imaginary Boys / Boys Don’t Cry (1979-80). With their next few albums (Seventeen Seconds and Faith), they got more Gothic and a little haunted in tone. With Pornography (1982) and The Top (1984), the tone gets a lot darker - more introverted, bleak, and trippy, especially on The Top) Meanwhile, Rob became involved in side projects, playing with Siouxsie and the Banshees’ excellent Hyaena and recording with Steven Severin as The Glove. Fans wondered if this would spell the end of The Cure, and the dark, disjointed songs The Top didn’t reassure most fans. The Cure transformed themselves again with The Head On The Door. They brought in a new drummer, Boris Williams, who’d previously played with The Thompson Twins. Bassist Simon Gallup returned after having left the band after Pornography. Porl Thompson, who’d played on The Top, was on saxophone and keyboards. The Head On The Door proved that The Cure was an enormously capable and innovative pop band too. Compared to their earlier albums, The Head on the Door is positively summery. Of course it’s a kind of quirky Gothic Pop, but there’s some fun, optimism, and sexiness here that just doesn’t exist on the earlier albums. The Head On The Door creates a unique album, something that also did much to enhance The Cure’s fledgling popularity outside of the UK :)
