Playing drums on the wheel (playing the beat with his hands on the steering wheel) Lots of references to space and spaceships in this, mostly because of the context of the video game it was made for. The overall arch of the song is Aes talking about the battle with mental health, and ultimately feeling like a stranded astronaut floating through space. His car is his ship, and he can find some peace of mind getting lost in his whip listening to music and just generally detaching from the world around him by riding in his car.
Aye love these Aes reactions. This song was actually created for a video game called Freedom Finger, so the artwork is from the game. There's some other songs from this project too like 'KOWP' (King of world peace). It'd be cool to see you react to more of his work! Like Dorks, Mystery Fish, Pizza Alley, Rings or really anything!
The chorus: think about staying collected and cool despite existential dread (growing out of touch) or the threat of physical harm (outgunned in a field), and just playin' drums on your steering wheel... No matter what you throw at him, he's cool and calm. There's no shame in having some lyrics on the side or subs on screen - it will definitely help you understand things more! Also, there's a handful of songs that are fairly straightforward and easy to catch but two of my favorites that are worth checking out are No Regrets and Hot Dogs.
hahahah Pizza Alley is about his ayahuasca trip in Peru. This EP was a soundtrack for the game called Freedom Finger. So yeah on these tracks he's writing given an idea. The song Rings I told you about is one of his top hits off the album you did last did. It's about him losing his love for art, dropping out of school, and regretting it.
He made some songs for a video game called freedom finger one other song he did was "play dead" where hes bascially describing himself as the best pilot fighter. But HOW hes describing it is like hes playing old school space shooters like galaga. And man its a " im better than you " type of song that just hits !
"Shot off just one small part of some squadron That ain't once chosen to abort shit Now we've honed in on our problem" Is such a cool bar. If you wanna see another track that really unique amongst all his track check out Gopher Guts it's like a poem almost. And it's interesting because the last verse is pretty much the only example of him just straight up saying something straight instead of some mind bending metaphor so it hits different.
his song about acid/LSD is awesome & the 3rd verse of it is him rapping every word starting w/ L, then S then D. The song is "greatest pacman victory' & part of 3rd verse, 'Such Determinated Lepers, Successfully Disheveled Little Soliders Developed Like Serpents Despite Life Sentence Ducking Lemmings. Some Don't Like Sobriety's Dirty Lenses, Some Do...'
Pizza Alley (glad others have mentioned it) beyond the crazy lyrics just sets up such an atmosphere as he heads through Lima and into the jungle. Its like he fit all the world building you'd get out of a good short story into the song, and honestly made me want to visit Peru.

Came to comment the same recommendation.

The song is basically about the paranoia of getting lost in space or blown to pieces. Kind of a Major Tom type story...but for a video game.

Aesop is the best.

Bonkers!

You're still not understanding him yet but getting close. This video is based on a hand drawn video game he did a couple tracks for.

Speaking of ayahuasca, you gotta listen to Pizza Alley (But i guess you'd have to do "The Gates" first to understand the storyline)
in terms of storytelling, I personally love TV on 10, fumes, and the harbor is yours. they're a bit easier to follow imo
TV on 10 is amazing storytelling. True story about Aesop (Ian) and his friends.
Ruby '81 similar. True story. Tear-jerker.
If you want a crazy story - aesop rock ruby 81. Damn.
Aes takes...less drugs than he used to. haha That's safe to say.
If you want to try some Aes-adjacent, check out Homeboy Sandman - Go Hard. Aesop produced it.
:-: Aes a big big big Aes Fan check Shrink.. It'll answer some questions.. TBH the Impossible Kid album can answer alot of questions in this video.
Please do dorks next bro ✌️
you know it's also a game
