  • Zimbabwe's economic situation seems to have gone from bad to worse.
Food outlets have been closed and the country is running short of basic necessities, including food, petrol and medication.
Zimbabwean lawyer, Brian Kagoro, joins us in studio now.

This guy makes sense, the present government needs to consider its people and not make decisions on behalf of them without dialogue with them and just enforcing policies that will harm the people. They need to partner with the people as well as cut down on their expenditure on government employees who are their supporters, who are earning money for work they do not do.

in zimbabwe the major problem is the political crisis(illegitimacy crisis), you can see that normally chamisa and ED have the same number of supporters, however Ed his supporters based in rural areas and chamisa is suppoted by the urbarn supporters which is the people who have impact on economic development which is the major threat which need to be resolved urgently

Very true I keep telling people this all the time. Why should rural folk without a stake in the economy vote? Only educated people who have a real impact on the economy and understand issues should vote. But what do you expect when you have ZANU running the country

@@otis3744 i do agree but i thought i better not say that i think a thousand years is more likley. When you set goals you always give a deadline to check progress and although there is no way that it will have recovered in 200years it probably is a good point to check progress. I thought if i said a thousand years it may discourage people. You think that the 200 year target is a bit difficult or in your words ' brutal' and after reconsideration of this i will now reset the goal to 1000 years before we see the green shoots of recoverey. Do you think that is more achievable. Friends of mine have always thought i am over optimistic though.

@@otis3744 I do not believe Zimbabwe will recover in our life time. The reason for this thinking is very simple. All the Zimbabweans that I meet around the world are well educated and they have left to find employment. Zimbabwe needs these people if they are going to recover but this has now become a catch 22 position. It needs the educated to recover but they don't want to stay until it has recovered. Are you able to see a way out of this problem?
The other problem is a government that does not have the correct attitude to govern. How does Zimbabwe get a reasonable leadership?

    • @patiencechikomo

You are all speaking for us. I'm a Zimbabwean living in Zimbabwe. There are a lot of educated people who are still here in Zim. The majority of ppl over 24 have a tertiary qualification. Our problem is Zanu pf. The party is full of power hungry, brutal idiots who are reactive and not proactive. Zanu pf combines party business with state business and syphons money. Basically it's like a cartel for organized crime. The ppl in power do whatever it takes to get rich at the expense of the nation. As long as a fresh mind. A rational mind with ppl at heart is not at the helm we will continue to suffer. Destroy Zaepf and see Zim prosper. SA is closely following us. We remember a tym when we were shocked by electricity load shedding, water cuts and potholes. These are the early signs. With the increase in youth unemployment in SA watch the space. Eff is too radical. ANC reads from the same book as Zanu pf. As we have our own queen Bee you have Gupta. If you don't reign in ANC you are going to be like us in ten yrs.

I've scrolled through the comments here. White farmers were removed by Mugabe not in a planned manner but as a reaction to the war veterans who after 18 yrs of war still had nothing to show for it. These angry men took the offensive and pledged not to vote him back in when Morgan Tsvangirai started gaining ground on the political arena. Don't be shallow minded and assume that there was a referendum to vote on the issue. It was a reaction to help Bob stay in power.

Then all of a sudden we had USD accounts and had to start afresh...Then these Zanu fuckers continued to overspend and overspend and when the country's coffers were bled out, they became greedy and decided to introduce the bond note, basically giving us pieces of paper that can only be used in this country and taking our real money from the banks.
