    I am so glad I found you! A while ago I had an aloe I thought had completely died but put it in the front yard just in case. Sure enough without me there messing with it and watering it all the time, it took off and produced this huge clump of leaves. But I just repotted it today and realized how dark and muted the color was and was worried I totally killed it with too much sun. I am glad to see this guy can make a recovery!

    I just bought an aloe vera plant because I love the game viridi! I thought if I could take care of and love this plant in a phone game I should try it irl. But I had no idea gardening was so much fun yet confusing about care! Soils, food, watering, potting? Thanks to you it all seems more clear. And you are so sweet I wish you were my mom, new subscriber for you!

    Your aloe looks amazing. I do have mine on my windowsill right now. They are not very big but if they were as big as yours I wouldn’t be able to fit on my window sill. It is warm outside but not hot and the sun is not overbearing right now. I am going to bring them in, in a few hours, when it cools down.

    I definitely recommend putting aloe vera in a self-watering container. My mom's aloe vera did awesome in it since it only took up the water it needed--no worries about over or under watering. It badly needed transplanting this year but we didn't have a bigger pot, so I planted it outside and got a bunch of pups in the process. Unfortunately, I accidentally burned a couple in the window. I'm not sure what I should do... Cut off the burned leaves, I guess?

    Great info! I've always used aloe externally, I just recently started adding the gel to my carrot juice. I have lots, and never did much more than water it. Now I'm adding my worm castings to it. I'm hoping this will make them all larger. I have 3 different varieties, different shades of green and sizes. Thank-You! Great to meet you!

    Hi, Nell! I just bought a good sized aloe Vera plant from a local nursery! I plan to use the gel regularly for my hair. Do you know when I should start watering it? I didn't think to ask when it was last watered! I placed it on my front porch. It's got an overhang so hopefully it won't get too much sun!

    I mist mine everyday but that’s just because every time I come home the pots are all dried out. They are all located on a balcony facing the east south east and live in Dallas so it gets hot down here Anyways they’re doing great too. Always make sure people to straighten out/untangle the roots before transplanting too!! Great video. Thank you

    Hi thank you for all you information. I have a question when you repot a year old plant do you bury the plant to cover the bottom that has a stem because leaves were cut off? The stem is about 2 to 4 inches long or do I leave the stem above ground as it is now. This plant also has a baby plant coming up. Thanks because this was my mother's plant who passed away a year ago and obviously I don't want to hurt it.

    • @JoyUsGarden
      @JoyUsGarden  7 років тому +2

      Hi Debi - You want to leave the stems above the ground as they are now when you transplant your Aloe vera. Be sure to use a very loose draining mix like a succulent & cactus mix or a potting soil. Nell

    My aloe is in a nursery pot on my brightly shaded back porch (east facing in central Florida). It is leaning in the pot and has pulled away from the *center* of the pot where the stem is. It leans against the edge of the pot. I thought it needed more soil for support, and that seemed to help for awhile. Weeks later, though, it's back to leaning. It doesn't seem to be potbound and is thriving otherwise.
    Any idea on how to get this beauty to not lean? Do I need to stake it? Repot? Suggestions and advice appreciated! Thank you!

    I made a mistake and left mine out during a 2 day freeze. The leaves turned plump & brown and fell over. Although the base of the plant was predominantly green. I live in Phoenix AZ. I am an aloe freak. I have them all over like a fence. I use it always on my skin. PROBLEM: now I find the leaves curl like closing. They are not really green, more like brownish. What do you think is wrong? I do not over water if anything I under water.

    My aloe vera is outside, it's exposed to sun for about 7-8 hours a day and i water it every 2-3 days, but sometimes i water it every 4 days depending on the moisture that the soil still has in it.

    Hi Nel I have my aloe plants by my windowsill and I just noticed some thin webbing close to my pot but I don't see any damage on my plant, should I be worried?

    • @JoyUsGarden
      @JoyUsGarden  7 років тому

      Hi - If the webbing is close to or on the plant, it could be spider mites. They seemingly spring forth when our dry heat gets turned on at this time of year. Nell

      Oh you're so welcome. I've moved to the desert & now my aloe is growing in bright all day shade. It looks great but I've had to adjust the watering too. Plants are a learning experience, that's for sure. Nell

      +JoyUsGarden ouh really!. I live in the Middle East. It's SO hot and dry. The man in the shop told me to give them little water everyday. My plants are getting orangey brown and getting big dry ends. Not healthy at all. Its depressing no just looking at them. How did you adjust them in the desert climate?. Thank you

      Hi - Aloes can take the heat but definitely show signs of stress in hot sun. Here in Tucson the ones growing in full sun have smaller leaves which aren't as full of gel. I have mine in bright shade underneath my grapefruit tree & it's looking great. I water it every few days. Nell

    Hi ! My Aloe is turning brownish at the top of the leaves. What should i do to overcome this sunburn? And please also inform me how lapse of days i water my Aloe? Right now in my region its winter... ! Please help !

    • @JoyUsGarden
      @JoyUsGarden  7 років тому +2

      Hi Kamran - All you can do to overcome sunburn is keep your aloe out of the direct, hot sun. In winter you want to back off on watering all plants. Every 3-4 weeks in the colder months is fine. Nell

    and should I remove the bottom two that are drooping or will they peek back up? after listening longer a see that maybe I should not water every week. also it's in a 4 inch pot. when should I repot? it's about 14in in height

    • @JoyUsGarden
      @JoyUsGarden  8 років тому +1

      I just answered above that I think it's too much water +ebony williams lovinmynaturalself Those leaves won't perk back up if they've drooped too much so I'd cut them off. And yes, at that height, you can repot it. Aloe vera gets quite heavy as it grows so you need a good base for it. You could go up to an 8 or 10" pot if you'd like. Hope that helps! Nell
