Grey's Anatomy - Derek Shepherd is shot. Episode 23 "Sanctuary". Aired on May 20th, 2010. Song: Katie Herzig - Holding Us Back Please support this series.
It was the fault from the doctors that Derek died. Think : When he had the accident in Seatle and he going to the grey hospital he can by now at life! It was only the fault of the doctors, because they hadn't made a head C.T.
gentlemortal I am truly sorry for spoiling it for you but honestly it's all over the internet and unless you don't go on any social media websites, you would've found out.
This was such a good episode. Just like the bomb one. It really captures how scary a shooter is in a very simplistic way. I was crying and scared and so well done. These episodes are the best.
@@dogacakaloglu5833 Season 6, episode 23. In episode 24, they treat Derek's gunshot wound, while Gary Clark (the shooter) is still walking around in the hospital.
The reason this man made me so angry is because he was blaming them all for a choice his wife made. Like is it their fault she signed a DNR?! He literally killed and injured all of these ppl for no reason oml
Lucky you, I still find her extremely annoying and I dislike that no matter what she does (accidentally kills someone, gets Derek shot, fails her boards, etc.) she still comes back. Ugh, and after what she did and kept on doing to Jackson i just don't like her character from the beginning and still don't like her.
I love how he survived being shot in the chest and the operated on by residents who weren't fully ready yet and a plane crash that killed two people...but he died because some idiots didn't know how to do their job right. A money probably could have saved Derek after the car accident...
"You dont get to be god." *April comes out of Derek's office* April: Doctor Shepherd Thank God you're back.. That is the reason why he got shot..April said "Thank God."
*two men killed my father for his watch. Right in front of me* Batman is that you?!?! Lol and then when he falls and he's looking up and he blinks it's like he's thinking, *wtf just happened*

The was seriously the most intense and emotional finale grey's has ever had. I could not help but both cry and sit there shocked throughout the whole thing.
I LOVE the emotion in this scene, i love merediths face when the triggor is pulled, tears were literally pouring down my face. Amazing actors! Damn, i love this show!
Oh, because I swore just before April came out the guy was lowering his gun. And then she said "Doctor Shepard! Thank god you're back" and then the shooter shoots derek. But oh well
I don't believe in hating on April esp in that situation. But had she followed Dereks instructions and stayed where she was Derek most likely wouldn't have been shot. The shooter was a grieving man and people do, do horrendous acts while grieving. But you do see humanity in him he was being talked down but because April interrupted his mind went kicked right back to what he had come to do. If she had stayed put Derek may have been able to talk him down long enough for the cops to capture him. If the shooter was a psychopath no amount of talking etc would have stopped them. Psychopaths don't feel human emotion at all, they may learn to imitate emotion but they don't feel it. Its why they are constantly called cold blooded.
I've never never understood why people hate April. She's human. If it was Cristina or Meredith that would've walked in unknowingly, nobody would be bitching. April is not my favorite but I have nothing to hate her for. She is human.
But the thing is how the hell did she not know? The chief's office has a giant back window where you can see the catwalk from. She clearly knew Derek was there so she should have known Clark was there too
I agree, I was like FINALLLY! More has happened to Meredith then anyone. I am dying for like a preview of season 7. thank you for posting this. Patrick did a fabulous job. but i want season seven to hurry up.
Even in death the man was looking hot LoL. Taking Beyonce's song to a whole new level " I almost died like this, I almost died like this, I'm Flawless, Ladies, Tell 'em". 😉 This was great acting by everyone in this.
I just watched this episode and dang! Like I dont think I've ever seen a show that put me on edge as bad as this one. I stayed up late into the night to watch the next episode to make sure shepherd and Alex and Charlie were okay.....
Finally after 6 years of waiting, Derek Shepherd has a real life threatening injury! About time!!! Everything's happened to everyone else for 6 years, it's about time Derek joins the fray! My excitment has nothing to do with hate, I adore McDreamy very much, but I had been waiting for him to be the center of a big life-threatening situation/storyline for years and it has finally come to pass! Bravo to the amazing cast, bravo to Patrick Dempsey! Now THAT is a leading man!
Lmao! You sound just like me! 🤣 I love the episodes where Derek Shepherd gets injured! Don't know why. And Derek's my favorite character on the show, so I love him. He's also so very handsome! He truly lives up to his nickname Dr. McDreamy! 🥰👨🏻⚕️

because not only did she not stay in derek's office like he asked her too, she could see the gunman because the chief's office literally has a view right out to the catwalk. you have to be so stupid to run out of the office and be relieved that derek is back when there's a gun pointed at him

Like you say, the show kind of loose meaning and I dont want to get attached to new people anymore so they are just background. They probably gonna die anyway hehe
I'm in the same circumstance and am on season 6. I'm still loving it but have looked up future references and everyone leaves or dies like you said. I think the show should've ended, like most shows. It's barely even greys anatomy. Definitely not the show it started out as, now hanging on by a thread.
Vanessa Oakley It wasn't anything she said. It was a spur of the moment thing. Derek was trying to convince him to not shoot but when she busted in there and Derek looked away, he took the chance to regain his standing and shoot. That is what I believe anyway (:
The shooter was actually looking for him specifically, he didn't know it was him till April outed him by accident trying to warn him that he was being hunted
Actually Gary (the shooter) did know who he was. It may not be in this clip but in this episode he tells Derek "You don't remember me do you?" and also, Derek made the decision for Gary to pull the plug on his wife.
I am so sick of hearing how April is the big bad bitch! She is the most caring surgeon other than Bailey and Arizona! She made a porridge for the girl from Africa! Also, how can people defend and praise Izzy when she made an even worse mistake? What she did wasn't brave or noble or smart, it was selfish and wrong! I love April, Sarah Drew is the perfect addition to the cast and she and Jackson made the show better, not worse!
Nope. April was literally the worst character on the show! She tried to get in between Meredith and Derek even when she knew they were married! And she made a lot of huge mistakes (including holding the scalpel the wrong way, causing her to slash Derek's hand during a surgery)! And then she caused Derek to get shot by not listening to Derek's order! As if that wasn't enough, she was an @$$ towards Jackson several times! And like you already pointed out, she killed a patient because of a stupid mistake she did that she should have KNOWN, since she'd been a doctor for MANY years already, when that happened! I get it. You like her the most, because you relate to her the most. But that doesn't give her the right to do all those huge mistakes! Bigger mistakes than ANYONE else had done in the show!!!

@supertyty93 basically what happened is that derek was trying to get the gunman to see him as a human being. thats why he wanted to keep eye contact. when april walks in and screams his name basically all he hears is the name of the guy who killed his wife and he stops seeing him as an actual person. he remembers what he came to do and shoots him.

It was so heartbreaking, had he been taken to grey sloane he would have been treated like a king and survived

Thats what made that episode so frustrating to watch THOSE SURGEONS WERE INCOMPETENT AND IF HE WAS TAKEN TO GRAY SLOAN HE WOULDA BEEN SAVED
