One of the things I like about this is that the flashbacks to Derek are from the doctor's point of view. He does remember Derek, even if he didn't remember his name or who Meredith was. He is the only person in the room that day who has those memories. So despite his arrogance and incompetence, it seems like in the private of his mind he knows Meredith is right. And the guilt tortured him enough to trigger his seizure.
I was rewatching this and came up with the same thought.
I was so surprised that he even forgot. Surely one would remember being responsible for the death of a world renowned neuro surgeon.

It still amazes me that she hasn't won an Emmy for her role on Grey's Anatomy. Ellen Pompeo deserves an Emmy for this scene alone.
There's usually something odd in her acting. Some kind of stiffness, I don't know. It's good, but when you really pay attention it's not THAT good. And that was a lot of pointing of the finger, which got a bit awkward actually.

I’m actually surprised he didn’t remember Meredith. He knew she was a doctor when she signed the papers to unplug Derek. It was an intense moment. How many times does that happen …?
How many patients has he lost due to negligence
She even made a point of how wrong that is by naming all of her lost patients' spouses. "I remember every single one of them........ you don't remember me........ and you're sitting here judging me? You don't have the right to judge anyone."
Just the fact that he didn’t even remember her speaks volumes. Surely you would remember being responsible for the death of a world-renowned neuro surgeon and his wife who is the daughter of a renowned general surgeon who created techniques he would be using in the OR. Who then went onto become one herself (and was already on her way)
It shows it didn't matter enough to hin to know that with each patient who dies lies are changed forever so you should treat it accordingly.
@@nightcore5208 Sadly, I think he probably never felt responsibility for his death. In his mind, it was solely their neurosurgeon's fault for being more than a hour late. And also, he probably never faced any consequences for his (very costly and vital) mistake. And here, it just came crashing all down on him.
Did anyone else get goosebumps when first watching this scene because when I first watched it the way I was rooting for Meredith was crazy the love she has for Derek is unbelievable
Paul Costello: **literally kills the president’s neurosurgeon**
**doesnt remember**

Then proceeds to have a whole seizure
The amount of things in a doctor's daily like is pretty gargantuan. Most doctors don't even remember patient names after they've seem them an hour ago. Also most people don't realize about half of a nurses job is to make sure a doctor doesn't fuck up. They prescribe and order, but if it contradicts with something like another medication or allergy or personal belief it's on the nurse. Nurse and doctors will argue about patient safety constantly. It's sucks

MEEEEEEE TOOO!👏👏👏😁
I feel this on a different level - legit had me moving around on my seat and all! Need to keep this energy going for the next episodes
lauren w me too! I’m like I’m about to restart watching again 😂
I don't remember ever tearing up once a week for 17 years before Grey's Anatomy was released.
It's amazing to me that even though Mer had no interest in whatever happened to that horrible doctor, she was still the first person who walked towards the man to help him.
Seeing those little flashbacks of Derek really hurt my heart. He may be gone but he will never be forgotten!
Denko reading this comment really made me fight back some tears.
Derek got what was coming to him for killing that patient whose husband shot up the hospital back in season 5(?)
They looked into everything from her past except who her husband was and how he died
Felicia Walker smh
I wondered this myself actually. She not only created mini livers but won a Catherine Fox for the abdominal transplant. Her husband was a world renowned neurosurgeon and you're telling me they couldn't find any of that out? She's had article on articles written on her, and posted one herself before this trial! How in the hell could they have not tied her husbands death to that board member? He worked at the hospital, Derek died there...did they really think there was no connection? This was the only part that seemed unrealistic to me
exactly! it didn't make any sense. they even brought up the alzheimer's trial that was lead by derek and it didn't show in the documents? so was that doctor only pretending not to know meredith? i guess we'll never know since he dead now
@@makaylalavy6012 except it happens all the time in all walks of life. Whether it's that they are lazy and don't do their research or they just don't care, this kind of thing is rampant. They have a board to fire one person for something while one of the board members is being investigated for the same thing. A judge with a shady past is allowed to continue until everyone finds out and now all his decisions have to be reviewed. I honestly don't know if someone drops the ball constantly or if it's that some people think they are so powerful that nobody will ever find out or question it. In the end, there are a lot more victims thanks to this inability to check beforehand. It's disgusting but if anything, it is all too real.
Cuz it’s good tv that’s why!
Meredith needs to add "Yelled at a man so hard he instantly had a fucking stroke and died" to her CV
Jo falling out of character and smiling at 1:08😂😂😂
I dont know why, but this is my favorite scene ever, especially the part where Meredith is talking about Derek being the love if her life. And the part where she says the night of Derek's death should have costed him his career, got me. He then realized that he has no right to judge her when he did something SO much worse than her. I think Medical Negligence is worse than Fraud, I'm probably wrong, but that's my opinion.
Amanda Lee he did worse... pure incompetence.
Not as bad he did much worse!!!
What Meredith did was fraud, not medical negligence.
Is my favourite too
I love how she says the love of my life! It shows that no matter who is in her life, Derek is always going to be number 1 and no one can replace that!!!
