I just realized it too. What a coincidence! Tom, Amy, Santi & Lee taking over the main Channels MatPat made, while he continues over on GTLive, after they were featured in the episode about how to win a food fight? Looks like MatPat had already discussed it with the team, then dropped it as an announcement on Game Theory. But, it's most likely he hadn't yet thought about retirement on May 28th 2023. Man, if only the new hosts could confirm or deny the idea of the channels being handed to them after this episode aired.

the proper way to win a food fight:
1. pick up fencing as a hobby
2. master the sword
3. bring a week old super hard baguette
4. deflect all incoming attacks
5. win

Don't forget that one of the most used traits in competitive is Peanut Allergy, one of the best traits on defensive builds giving 20% defense boost with his only counter being peanut-type foods, so it's preferable if you have any of those in your build, I personally prefer peanut-filled sock, good damage, fast attacks, etc. I even made people with said trait so angry that they ragequitted to the point that they never log in again

Another thing that could work is those juice ups, Specially grape juice, you could easily throw those to make them explode and grape juice creates some of the worst stains!
They’re like grenades due to them being a one use but they can be really effective
MY HIGH SCHOOL HAD OCCASIONAL FOOD FIGHTS!
They were actually a serious problem. Basically, everyone would be talking, and then suddenly the cafeteria would get dead quiet. There would be an ominous feeling in the air, and then--BAM!--food would go flying everywhere. It was actually quite disgusting and I would always feel horrible for the staff that had to clean it up. Luckily, they figured out a solution: They started playing music throughout lunch. That prevented the room from getting quiet, which actually stopped the food fights from happening!

I’ve actually been in a food fight where my team absolutely destroyed the other. We just got a bunch of strawberry milk cartons, opened the top then closed it. We then threw it to the ceiling above where our enemies were and the milk splattered all below onto them. By opening the carton, you make it so the milk is more likely to get poured everywhere, and by closing it again, you avoid it from exploding until it reaches it destination.

My school had a food fight once and I wasn’t even there - I was across the country on vacation. Lucky for me, the principal deemed everyone in those grades involved would be in trouble unless you could prove you weren’t present (something myself and a few others proved). Heard it started with a kid taking ketchup dipped nuggets and throwing them like shurikens.
I think that kid was a timetravel, he watched this video.

Food theory idea: How can the food in Botw (breath of the wild) and TotK (tears of the kingdom) give you certain abilities like, the Mighty Bananas giving higher attack radishes giving increased vitality. Could they be a sort of GMO? Or is it completely impossible? I’m pretty curious of how even some mushrooms can regenerate stamina or even make you more resistant to damage or the cold/heat.

Speaking as someone who works in a school, I'm glad food fights don't really happen. Putting aside what the custodial staffs already have to put up with in schools these days (thank you TikTok), there are many poorer kids who depend on school meals as their main source of food. I don't want to encourage kids to waste what is the most important meal, if not sole meal, of some of their peers.
It makes me wonder just how food fights became a trope in movies.
We had a grand total of one when I was in school and I think it happened specifically because we thought it would be funny. I'm pretty sure it lasted for a couple minutes and we ended up cleaning up the mess ourselves.

The food fight I experienced in middle school was over in about 20 seconds, and by the time I realized what was happening four rows of tables behind me and grabbed an orange to throw, the teachers and security patrolling the cafeteria got to the people who started it and I would have gotten in trouble, too.
Also, my high school has vending machines with soda in them, so soda is fine in an MPS high school
I wish this video was filmed live rather than just a discussion of the results, would’ve loved to watch them test each food like they did with shoes and skulls

Okay one thing I want to throw out for safety: Do NOT throw HOT mashed potatoes or oatmeal on a person!! The sugar makes these foods sticky and hard to get off someone. Great for a food fight but TERRIBLE when the food is at temperatures that can lead to second degree burns. Just felt like I needed that PSA out there. Have a good day! 🌟

Sweet potato casserole. Every school I went to had it at least twice a week, and while it may not seem like it it has a lot of structural stability when put under the right force it works just like a good sticky clump of mud.
That surprise Steph Nugget vocal cameo made me... probably happier than it should have 😅 It's a classic, and I want the creators of Kindergarten to make another sequel just so we can get a GTLive featuring Steph and her Nugget voice again 😁

You know MatPat if you really want to get into a food fight there are actual festivals that are basically that. One in Spain that's a tomato fight while there's one in Italy that's an orange fight.

Though Matpat did give some good weapons or your food fight, here are some other weapons that might work good.
Desserts:
Ice cream: A very creamy snowball. Great for long distance and some snipes (Ranged Weapon)
Pie: Self explanatory (Ranged and Melee Weapon)
Cake/Cupcake: like a ice cream fused with pie. Also great for massive stains/damage on opponent. Also can be used as a banana peel. (Ranged and Melee Weapon)
Jell-O: hear me out on this, but even though it can't really give any stains it works great as a slip trip. (Just hope you don't get caught) (Trap use)
Muffin: Not the best or worst. Kinda dry weapon (Melee and Ranged Weapon)
Snacks:
Your packet of chips: Blow up the packet by clapping it. Works as a one use shotgun. (Ranged Weapon)
Tangerines/Mandarins and Oranges: Perfect for a juicy blow. Not good for throwing though. (Trap and Melee Weapon)
Biscuits/Cookies: When thrown, it gives not that much damage but if crumbled it works great. (Ranged Weapon)
Fast Food/Lunch:
Burgers and Sandwiches: Not the best when trying to do long distance shots but when thrown at a close distance it is great for a greasy shotgun. (Melee and Ranged weapon)
Fried Chicken or Normal Chicken: First consume the meat or don't (your choice really). Dip the chicken into any available sauce. Throw it. Now it makes a good greasy and saucy weapon. (Ranged and Melee Weapon)
Pizza slice: Can be both be thrown or used as a melee but melee is best option for damage and stains. (Ranged and Melee Weapon)
Meatballs: Coming from the dangerous spaghetti, this ball of meat is saucy and greasy. (Ranged Weapon)
Corndog: Not great for throwing, high risk of injury. Best used for melee. (Melee Weapon)
Soup: Some of the most dangerous weapons. This bowl of liquid is dangerous if stained. But the bowl is good use for armor. (Armor and Ranged Weapon)
Condiments:
Spicy Mustard: Best for massive stain. Bonus points if in enemy's mouth (Ranged and Melee Weapon)
Relish: Great for giving someone's stain a pain (Ranged Weapon)
BBQ Sauce: similar reason to Ketchup (Ranged Weapon)
Drinks:
Orange juice: Both sticky and deadly (Ranged Weapon)
Milkshake: Milk but more deadly and larger (Ranged Weapon)
Lemonade: Just like an orange juice but a bit sour. (Ranged Weapon)
Capri-sun: Highly sticky. Dangerous weapon. (Ranged Weapon)
Now for the most deadliest weapons. Beware if you are hit by these two weapons:
Stale Baguette: A literal sword. (Melee Weapon)
Chewing gum: A lil piece of of this and catastrophe can happen. (Ranged and Melee)
Writers note: This nearly took me 2 hours.
4:42. Back of the lunch, closest to the door as you can, but depending on your school’s layout, (yes, lunchrooms aren’t just a big box.) you have an easy escape option. University city high, has pillars all around, so you always had coverage. Overbrook only had two massive pillars in the middle. Depending on your position, this could stain or not stain your “mattpatt jumpers 11s.” 😂😂

As a contestant of multiple food fights and winner of one, I can confirm food fights need a lot of thinking ahead for almost everyone (every single one I've been in has been planned ahead of time so kids know when and where it'll be. There's also the 3 specific kids that willingly start it with the punishment in mind)

You should do a food theory similar to the style theory episode about washing clothes. Except about washing dishes. What is the best type of soap? Should you pre-rinse your dishes before loading them in the dishwasher? How clean are your pots and pans after you hand wash them?
Just had a great idea for a food fight victory
1-When it starts,get the empty tray,condiments like ketchup,mayo or mustard
2-Drop below the table and flip over the benches to their side
3-Turn the Table into a heavily armored place by using the benches as walls,same with trays
4-Tables,trays and benches serve as armor while layed out as a pill box
The Condiments or bottles you have serve as a good enough ofense
5-Now the table serves as a pillbox and if done right with your friends,a Food fight tanks
6-probably wont work and you will get targeted one way or another.
I have actually experienced a food fight. On the last day of school I was in the cafeteria, and I saw a carton of milk fly across the room. That must have been the signal, because a full scale, movie style food fight occurred immediately after that
I remember one food fight from middle school. I was passing by the cafeteria with a bathroom pass and saw the end of it. Didn't get to join in but definitely saw how shocked and possibly scared the cafeteria workers were.

Throughout my life, I've experienced 5 food fights. The biggest one was in my 9th grade class where, around the same time, someone cherry bombed a toilet.

I graduated in 2014 and they never allowed sodas in the regular cafeteria but we had a separate student run store that you could buy them. They did however have Izzies and other carbonated flavored drinks in the cafeteria line.

Yes Mat, us TROUBLEMAKERS were HIGHLY skilled at winging bologna. I could ruin any car's paint job, even the ones in the garages without ever setting foot in their yards.
Also, been in one food fight, mid 90's, 4th grade. Even at the age/size the trays did little to shield us from juice boxes and chicken tetrazinni.
We took cover behind the ice cream cooler (yes kids, you used to be able to buy ice cream at lunch, for 50¢!)
We found the Drumsticks and Choco Tacos to hurt bad and fly far. That's the best by far.
Pre-poked Capri Sun was also viable.

Video Suggestion: In Australia we have a hardware store called Bunnings and it is a tradition to have a "Bunnings Snag" when you visit on the weekend.
This is a sausage in bread, typically with onion. This is a charity setup with proceeds going to girl guides, scouts, cancer council etc
A few years ago they had a slip and fall caused by onions coming out of someones food and falling to the floor.
They made it a policy that onions now needed to be under the sausage.
I think this makes it taste different (like the burger order and I also think they cook them less and give you less as well.
At my high school the words "Food Fight" were taboo. Even uttering them at a conversational level on the complete opposite side of the school from the cafeteria could land you in detention or in school suspension. As for soda, there were vending machines all over the place though most teachers had a no drinking in class rule, and the few that let you were idolized.

*I went to a special needs school. Even if food fights were a thing, it would quickly evolve into an actual fight. With that being said i would've loved to get involved into a food fight, one of the few things i actually regretted bout school life* 🙃
My school was in a pretty rural area with a lot of low income families with major food insecurities. The school meals were the only meals the majority of the students ever ate so the idea of wasting any food was beyond taboo. If there was something someone was allergic to or just really didn't like we were constantly actively sharing and trading meal items.
I have however bared witness to a number of literal brawls that almost always broke out in the cafeteria though. Not the same thing but interesting that they always took place there.

I was in a food fight my freshman year of highschool. I think they don't do it because the person who was setting it up got arrested for inciting a riot, got suspended for a month, and lost his full ride scholarship he was set up for.
No joke, his whole future was irrevocably changed from this 1 food fight. Dropped out of community college and works a lumber/landscaping job with his older brother.
Still does well for himself but it's crazy to think where he might be now if he got that full ride.

Hey Theorist team! Reporting from Jamaica🇯🇲: My school used to allow sodas but when I got to grade 11, there was a policy that only allowed fruit drinks to be sold at schools. This was in hopes of reducing sugar intake in teens.
The administration didn't know that those are basically identical when it comes to sugar content?

There actually is a trick for carbonated soda can sprayers, if you put a hole in the can with a pen, cover the hole with your thumb, then shake for at least 2 minutes it creates a massive geyser of cola. My friends did it all the time in our neighborhood
Actually yes. Unless it's like a shop class or a drawing class. Like classes that use your hands constantly, most of my classes allow soda, energy drinks or anything with a cap. Our school even has vending machines with soda and energy drinks in it.
I love the idea of a kid who choices their meals specifically with food fights in mind. Ever prepared to win.
I have, in fact, been pegged with a small ball of mashed potatoes. It was just as effective as you're expecting for throwability, but in my experience, that results in someone catching hands, not a slice of pizza to the face.
My food of choice is salt. Very portable, very high damage crits. Very undetectable.

In the last food fight I was in, the item which dominated the fight was: A large watermelon with a sturdy spoon. Its wielder could rapid-fire bits of sticky red watermelon across long distances, with a high degree of precision and plenty of ammo. It beat even the trusty old ketchup squeezy bottle.
I am utterly appalled that they did not have an actual food fight to test the theories. 😂 Love the shows glad the circle is complete

I was in a food fight at camp one year. It ended up with me running through the woods chasing people down with a hand pumped 5 gallon water tank on my back. And we were the counselors.
My friends and I spent some entertaining hours plotting how we could use the interesting layout of our university cafeteria for the most epic food fight imaginable. Even came up with rules such as "if you participate, you stay to clean up" with an eye to keeping the administration happy.

My "food fights" in school was more me and friends light-heartedly fighting *over* food rather then throwing it around. Still resulted in equal amounts of food going every direction and boy it was fun.
My favorite food fight has got to be from RWBY; nothing like people from a combat school getting into a food fight. Not to mention, "I'm queen of the castle! " is an awesome line.

I remember the food fight at my school. Several kids planned it. And I remember the cafeteria staff saying they should have caught it earlier. Especially since kids were walking out to the tables with trays covered with condiment cups full of ketchup and mustard. It lasted only a few minutes, but the room and kids were covered with red and yellow splatters.
Better than one that the class above us did. I had friends a grade above me that told me that there was a food fight where they had left milk to spoil in lockers before they planned to have one...
And were they forced to clean it, or was the poor underpaid janitor forced to stay late to clean it? 😠

I've seen a lot of other videos in the past, and they were hinting at it for a long while now. We just never realized because we never thought that day was so close or even happening
1:34 I was class of 2011 & went to school in a poor community. My high school had 2-3 big food fights every single year. I say "big food fights" because food was thrown at somebody almost everyday, but it usually didn't include more than a few people on each side.
8:48 Mashed potatoes sound like a good idea, but they don't stay together like a snowball when you throw them. They kinda explode/break apart in the air making them very hard to aim, so they aren't a very good choice if you have a target. They are good if you throw them in a group & don't care who you hit. I haven't actually tried to throw oatmeal, but if it's very runny/liquidy then I'd expect to have a similar problem.
Food Theory idea: If air resistance can create heat energy, how fast should we send a chicken to cook it? At which point does the chicken got cooked if we drop it from space?
