This is another reaction with my first time hearing Pisces by Jinjer. I was a little jumpy when Tatiana kicked into her growl. It had been so long I was listening and feeling confused by the gentle false sense of security. HAHA!

This is the song that introduced me to Jinjer. I absolutely adore Tatiana Shmailyuk- the vocalist- and her ability to switch between her clean vocals and growls. It totally portrays her own sign of Fishes and in fact the duality of any kind of human. I'm impressed by Your own thoughts- everyone has ability to get back up, no matter how low they would fall. Thank You so much for this reaction! 😃

You knew Tatiana did the harsh vocals, but it still got you. 🤣Was it the speed of and the seem less transition that did it?
This live session was done to showcase Vlad on drums, as he had joined not long before this. It went viral because of her vocals.
Tati is a Pieces and wrote most of the lyrics, Eugene on bass(also a Pisces) helped her out. Roman(guitar) and Eugene wrote the music.
If you forgot, they are from Donetsk in eastern Ukraine. Home Back might fit with your channel theme, it is about the fighting in their homeland in 2014, but it still applies today.

That is all Tati, no need for technical help or trickery. Just look how relaxed her neck is as she sings. I love the evolution of her vocal skills. I saw that she wanted the be like Chad Grey in her vocals. It’s also amazing to me that she can write these lyrics in a language that is not her native language. For Amanda, she is Ukrainian and speaks Russian.

She does indeed have a great voice, and can naturally growl, lots of live videos to show this (I've seen them live twice, and seeing them again next thursday). However, there's some technical trickery on this video using multiple vocal channels to amplify the effect.

I think some of their other songs might be even more in line with the focus of the channel, Vortex is about her struggle with anxiety, Perennial is about her seasonal depression and Home Back is about the first time Russia made them refugees(they're originally from Donetsk, Ukraine in Crimea they hade to flee to Kyiv and are now touring to raise money for aid efforts there)

I loved your jumpscare- thought it was totally visceral and in the moment. Very fitting considering the primal nature of her low growls. This was my first song with the band, and you are not alone, because her sudden 180° vocal switch just gets everybody. I think she’s one of the best lead vocalists in all of metal today, deserving of her and the band’s success. In regards to what you mentioned preceding the reaction, I wanted to relate I suffer from insomnia big-time, too, and for a long while. I take a Rx sleep aid, in fact, because otherwise I don’t seem to get tired, just continue staying up. I also tried melatonin but always felt a bit hazy the next day. So the insomnia thing is tough, and glad to see a product offered to help with it.

I find it a healthy way to get out anger through 'angry' music. Plus it's super nice for a workout.
I struggle with anger issues, so it's nice to have a way to let off some steam by feeling like I am not alone with it.
It feels good to know you aren't the only one being pissed at the world sometimes. It's fun to beat a tractor wheel with a baseball bat, but it's even better when someone is screaming along with your thoughts.
The trick is to know and choose they moments to lets it out. Own and control it, and not let it drive you.
We are not passengers, we are at the wheel. Even though it's doesn't feel like that sometimes.

The most impressive switching is in Sit Stay Roll Over live in Melbourne though the topic is more political than mental health related. As others have said, Perennial is about her chronic depression getting worse in the winter causing self-destructive feelings, and it sounds like she wrote it to remind herself that spring will come and she can make it through - the live at Wacken 2019 video is most impressiveand has thoroughly overshadowed the excellentand beautiful official video. Doing a double feature is always an option though, just saying. Pit Of Consciousness is a deep dive into her mental health struggles but thankfully is based on a poem she wrote as a teenager and it sounds like her symptoms have mellowed since then, it tracks pretty closely with a 2018 text interview with Psychology Today called Crushing Concrete with Jinjer's Tatiana Shmaylyuk though - the live in Kiev (now Kyiv) video is probablytheirmost impressive video all around once again overshadowing an excellent omv. Some of her best belting is in On The Top about the struggle for success and sacrifices made along the way, and the live in Kiev video is the best for that song. Cheers!

There is a band that has been advocates of mental health awareness for years that I have not seen you react to yet, or maybe I just missed it. That band being Shinedown! The lead vocalist has been said to say that the song he prefers new people to be introduced to the band as their song "The Sound of Madness", however I believe you would be interested in two other songs of theirs. One being "Daylight" the other being "Get Up". Those two are two of my personal favorites that can help me in my struggle. A couple of other songs I thought you may be interested in by other artists i've noticed you have already reacted to. However if you like those and feel adventurous, please feel free to listen to a song not sung in English by the band Faun, the song Federkleid. Oddly enough, I don't think that song really needs english vocals to understand the meaning!

She aslo said that she emulates Chad Gray from Mudvayne and Hell Yeah fame....If you have never check out Otep, you really should. Jinjer are trully amazing, I'm going to saw them tonight for the first time.
If I can suggest other songs by them : Wallflower (introvert/mental health), Perennial (mental health/depression), Retrospection (English and Ukraine combo about their loved ones), Homeback (horror in Ukraine). I suggest the lyrics for all of them.
Another band, another genre (always metal), Whitechapel "Hickory Creeks" and "When a demon defiles a witch" form "The Valley" album.
The whole album is about the singer's mom but this 2 songs are really hard. It's about her inner demons (abusive boyfriend (not the father), drugs, and dementia if I understand correctly).
If you check these songs, start by "When a demon defiles a witch" and then "Hickory Creek" (you'll understand why). The 2 clips are trully a masterpiece, 2 shorts movies.
I'm trully serious, big warning about the clip form "When a demon defiles a witch" (suicide attempt/mutilation/ritual images) and after "Hickory Creek" I always need something to get better.

Well - you are in a limit way correct but not at all about overcoming mental problems. As a person who is affected for several years by heavy mental problems I had to learn that your consciousness is not master in its own house - to say you can overcome it all by your own will is a bit dangerous because there are also people which are cannot because there subconscious plays its own game and to change this can be a very, very long way. I said dangerous because a person who sticks in such a spiral and fails in changes because its subconscious has its own ideas is in danger to get even more frustrated/depressed and can develop the idea it is this persons own fail, even she is on a certain level powerless.

I was diagnosed with BPD, PTSD, generalized anxiety and was addicted to cocaine. So I am affected by several myself as well. My Shadow (what I call that dark subconscious) had all but taken over my mind. Meds had unbearable side effects for me. I was in therapy most of my life and, while it offered me some skills for my toolbox, didn't really do much either. Those things are GREAT for some people and I very much advocate for them, but I have seen just as many people thrive from lifestyle changes as therapy. It just depends on the person. Is it a long road to change? Yes. But it's SO worth it.

@@MentalAmanda It is a bit complicated, also because I am not a native English speaker and maybe I hit the wrong tone/context, went to harsh, understood something wrong, idk.
ATM I am not in the condition to recap this, look the video again, I will sleep about this and maybe I will delete this conversation/my comment because I feel it runs me not into a good direction. Lets see what the new day will bring.
Maybe very shortened what I primarily wanted to say because in the video it felt like: You found your way to leave the hells you traveled and I love that you encourage people that this is possible BUT the in the video you felt a woman who thinks she has found the universal solution talks about her way and success" - your answer gives me another picture - that you understood that you can help people maybe with bits and pieces of your way to find there own way out. Maybe its me that I misunderstood you or you should be careful how you transport you message.
Now I wrote a much longeranswer than I wanted for now and I am a bit exhausted from the efforts to find the correct words to explain in an understandable and respectful way why I wrote my comment in this way.

Check out Kittie. They were the first girl band to do this. Morgan Lander is an AMAZING vocalist. I don't know how she does it. It's worth your time, trust me.

This song is a good example of why I could never have a reaction channel. I would get to that demonic screaming and that would be it, there wouldn't be a reaction video or I would post the video getting to that part and saying "nope, not going to listen to that" as a classically trained singer I just cannot stand that. That and Rap, I hated metal for years because the only metal I ever heard was that mess.
I recommend you give Darkness Before the Dawn by Caleb Hyles a listen. A single from his new album he did it with Lacey Sturm. He and Jonathan Young worked together on the Album like they did on Caleb's first original music album. Caleb did a short explaining his reasons for the song which is the common saying "It's always darkest before the dawn" to which he says "what about when you are in that darkness?" Me I have been in that darkness for 9 years now with so much serious trauma during those 9 years including 3 times I had a knife to my chest, 5+ other times I didn't want to live anymore, almost losing my mother this year and my brother making me feel like a burden. That dawn is going to have to be a pretty phenomenal dawn to push away my darkness.

I can recognize the talent even if it's not my cup of tea 😊 If there's something I've learned, it's that the darkness doesn't "go away", we just start finding lights to navigate it. And sometimes, we have to create the light.
