That is all her. They are Ukrainian and English isn't even her first language and yet she writes the lyrics on top of it all. This song is about the duality of her astrological sign, pisces, which is symbolized as two fish swimming in opposite directions. If you look close you can see even her earrings are fish. Over all Tatiana is an amazing talent. The band behind her are extremely talented also. Add them together and the results will astound you as you go deeper into their catalog.
@@Gofex786 That sounds reasonable to me, that's how I would need to do it. Get the complete thought down on paper first (or on some electronics, however it gets done), then translate it (likely with help from a person whose native language is the one I want it translated to, so it sounds legit to those listeners and not just some jumbled up mess). They did really great with this song, as I would fully expect from this band full of World-Class musicians.
NICE Reaction! The easiest way to understand, what you are diving in right now, is "JINJER - Perennial (Live at Wacken Open Air 2019)". Enjoy becomming a Fan 😎
Jinjer is my favorite progressive metal band and Tatiana (for me) is the Queen Of Growls.😂Next song You should listen is Perrenial- Live at Wacken. 😉Thank You for this great reaction! 😃
Jinjer - Perennial (Live at Wacken 2019) Jinjer - Pit of Consciousness (Live in Kiev) Jinjer - Pisces (Live Session) Jinjer - On The Top (Live in Kiev) Jinjer - Who Is Gonna Be The One (Official Live) Jinjer - Judgement & Punishment (Tatiana One Take Vocal) Jinjer - Teacher Teacher (Official Video) Jinjer - Captain Clock (Live at Resurrection Fest 2018)
I suggest "Perennial" (live at Wacken) for the 'is it really her!?' and "Home Back" for to get an understanding for why the lyrics are screamed. Like, listen to the song, react and then on tape read through the lyrics. For people unaccustomed to metal it is sometimes necessary to make clear that the growling and screaming is a conscious choice and like every choice in art it has meaning. I always have to fight back tears when I hear Home Back.
Love this band. All of the members are top tier and self taught, minus the drummer (trained pianist, self taught guitarist and drums). Tati(singer) had a few lessons as a child but the screaming/growling is also self taught. Watch any of the official live videos, can’t miss. Great reaction
Finally saw Jinjer live last summer. I was supposed to see them a year earlier, but I could barely walk at the time of the Tuska festival they were playing in.

Love Tatiana's harsh vocals when she pulls them out no where with her false vocal cords, she then can sing clean vocals without any problems. She amazing.
I recently saw them on tour, and they definitely put on one hell of a show. Like others have mentioned, Perennial- Live at Wacken 2019, is a great next video.
They are from Donetsk in eastern Ukraine, the fighting there started in 2014. Her name is Tatiana, she is mostly self taught, and yes that is all her. Some post production with layers, but that's her. Considered metalcore, but as you see, they use multiple genres within a song. Jazz and reggae are some they use. This live session was done to showcase Vlad on drums, he had joined not long before this. But it went viral because of her vocals. Vlad is classically trained on piano, and self taught on drums. He ,Roman (guitar) and Eugene(bass) are all awesome musicians. The song is Pisces, as in the astrological sign. The symbol is 2 fish swimming in the opposite directions. Duality is the key word here. She is a Pisces and wrote most of the lyrics. Eugene , also a Pisces, helped her finish them up. When the current fighting started , the guys were stuck in Kiev, but last year were allowed to leave to tour and be ambassadors for Ukraine. Hard "J", pronounced like ginger in English. And no original members are left in the band. According to their website, they were formed in 2009, but they consider 2010 as the year of formation when Tatiana and Roman joined. The usual next step is to see that she can do it live , with either Perennial at Wacken 2019, or Pit of Consciousness live in Kiev.
If you listen closely, you can hear a Tatiana harmonizing track just beneath the lead vocal track. Even whispering during the clean vocals. Cool audio trick and I'm all here for it!
She's brilliant. Any doubters perhaps need to watch a live recording such as Jinjer - Perennial, at Wacken. I've seen them live and she and the band are top-notch.
Best tats, legs, and voice in metal, Tatiana is an absolute beast of a vocalist. While maintaining beautiful cleans and belts, her growl is off the charts… deeper and better than most men! Add in the fact that she has no formal training, drinks, smokes, and never warms up... she's freakishly good. Damn fine lyricist as well.
Tatiana is using her upper throat for her growls, not her vocal cords. Which is why she can switch instantly from clean vocals to her growls. Self taught. Also she wrote the lyrics.
None of the members of the band currently in the band are original members. The last original member left around 2015. Their original singer was a fellow named Maks, who is married to Jane, Jinjer's merch girl (technically the only original member left, though not a band member)
Its funny how this video is simultaneously the greatest reaction content on youtube, while also being a really gentle introduction to what metal music can be like. The screaming is very well integrated into the song here in a tasteful manner where people who don't listen to metal can understand and appreciate the dynamics of the song. Usually, it's hard to watch people react to metal for the first time, because they tend recoil in fear and disgust due to lack of understanding. People subconsciously like to hear things that are "similar" to what they've already heard. For the same reason, people who only listen to classical music are very confused when they first hear medieval music. It's just too different. For me, it was the same way with jazz, having heard mostly pop and folk songs in my little town in sweden. I just couldn't *feel* it. I needed to "learn" to listen to and enjoy jazz.
A lot of people tend to overthink the band name; Jinjer is pronounced the same as ginger. The growling/screaming technique is used in a variety of genres in metal including Death Metal, Black Metal, and Metalcore. This band would fall under Progressive Metal. Screamo is a specific subgenre of rock combining screaming with Emo music.
They do Metalcore, progressive metal although I'm not a fan of genre labels and some would say they don't have a genre because they throw so many influences into their music. She's using a technique call "false chord" screaming/growling. Very difficult technique to learn but it generally results in lower tones than one's speaking voice. She's just a little better at it than most. I highly recommend their video Perennial Live at Wacken Open Air or Judgement and Punishment One Take Vocal.
Most of the really solid bands can't be lumped into specific genres unless by design. In a number of interviews, Eugene has been asked what category they place themselves in and basically just says they play heavy music. Great heavy music for fans of this versatile group of talented musicians. I too don't care for the multitude of subgenres, and besides, this band already categorized themselves- they are Jinjer. Just like Tati, Courtney and Alissa aren't all the same person.

Here for the jaw drop. lol Reactions to Tatiana are always fun to watch. (I died when you said "Do you want to see my party trick") Still chuckling about that one lolol
This was actually a video to show off their new drummer. Great musicians all around if you go back and listen to the odd time signatures and riffs. Jinjer is a Ukrainian band forced to flee their homes when Russia (under the guise of separatists) invaded Ukraine in 2014. Their song "Home Back" is sadly still relevant today. I suggest pulling up the lyric sheet whenever listening to Jinjer - the "growl" can make some of the lyrics hard to understand, but they are appropriately expressing the emotion behind some really poetic lyrics. A couple of the guys were initially forced to stay in Ukraine after Russia's latest invasion because they're eligible for the military draft. They did eventually get permission to leave and tour. I'm sure others will list some of the more popular songs, but "Home Back" just hits me harder knowing the backstory.
You ladies need to do another reaction and give this woman credit for the force of nature she is. None of this is fake. She can do it live and it's 100% her.
You ain't seen nothin yet. 😂. This is starter jinjer. Buckle up. 🤘 Now, as a fan of metal for at least the last forty years, who wasn't really a fan of the female singers that came along until the last decade, I am confident in saying that this woman is *the greatest* frontman/woman I've ever seen. Full stop. You are in for a treat of something very special, that only comes along once in a lifetime. I'm not some super fan that's expressing my biases, I'm stating fact. There is something about this crew that makes them genuinely legendary. They are the Pink Floyd of their generation, the Queen, the Metallica, The Duran Duran...that level of uniqueness and greatness. Even if you aren't into this kind of music...you may very well be if you go down this rabbit hole. And you should. Enjoy. 🤘
You are right. Watched them as support of BfmV. They could have taken over the whole gig. The only singer that has a similar standing in his part of the power metal genre is Michael Kiske. He has some similar outstanding voice for a man. But after that the air is becoming very thin....
Saw them live a couple months ago, they are amazing!! Tati is…well…next level good. Suggestions: Perennial live at Wacken Cloud Factory live (better than official imo) Vortex Sit, Stay, Roll Over (brutal song, not for the faint of heart!) Judgment &Punishment (one-take vocal ) Who is Gonna Be The One (live) Teacher, Teacher (official video) Pit of Consciousness (live) That’s just the start of the rabbit hole…
Jinjer is pronounced like the root. Tati has been with Jinjer the longest, but not the original vocalist. Since 2010. They would be considered technical/ progessive death metal/ metalcore. They have tons of live videos if you need proof that is actually her. My favorite is "Pit of Consciousness" live in Kiev, before the war started. Most important thing about this band, is they are very talented and a very cohesive unit. They are from Ukraine and have been touring almost non-stop since the war started. They were allowed to tour instead of fight, as they are ambassadors for Ukraine. They are fantastic humans that truly have gone against the odds to be where they are today. Thanks for your reaction.

try "jinjer - i speak astronomy" /// "in this moment - prayers" /// "the agonist - my witness, your victim" // "arch enemy - nemesis"
Laddies - there is a small but growing cottage industry of vocal coaches reacting to this piece and losing their shit. But there really is an explanation for how she does this - though it’s a little technical. Basically, you have your true vocal cords that produce your normal speech and singing - and that is what she uses to produce her regular singing. But there are also these things called false vocal cords (or vestibular folds). Using these instead of your regular cords produces a sound about an octave lower than your regular voice (as they vibrate about half as fast as your true cords do, which produces a lower pitch). Using the false cords to produce this effect (I call it growling, others use screaming) does not strain the true vocal cords, as they are not involved at all. You saw how easily she was able to go back and forth between one and the other at the end of the song, and if she had been using her regular cords to make that, her voice would have been shredded - no pretty regular tone following that. If you are curious and want to know more, one of the very best of the vocal reactors and analysis folks has a channel called The Charismatic Voice. Elizabeth Zharoff does interviews with people in the business (including one with Geoff Castalucci from VoicePlay), and she has an interview with Tatiana Shmayluk, the singer from Jinjer
There's a bit of layering on her vocal, but Tatiana has a great scream technique. You could check out her one-take performance of Jinjer's song Judgement And Punishment. Your reactions were very gratifying, but listen to this track again and notice how tight the band is as well. Jinjer is amazing and so musical.
Great reaction! Tatiana surprised you about as much as the Nickelback comment caught me off guard. Jinjer is Ukrainian progressive metal core/groove metal. There are actually no original members left. But they are at the top of their game. They are very stylistically and dynamically balanced. And yes Tatiana's growls are all her. Be sure to check out "Perennial" live at Wacken, "Judgement and Punishment" one take, and "Teacher, Teacher"
Waatch a few of the vocal coaches react to this song ... they will explain how she does it with her false vocal folds. If the screaming is not done correctly, it can damage the voice, but she does it perfectly, from her obvious ability to go back to her normal beautiful voice without issue. Your faces were priceless, which is one of the reasons everybody always requests a reaction ... just to get those looks.
I love showing this video to non metal fans. Everyone of them cannot believe that's her screaming. I showed this to my 67 year old mother and her reaction was, "No. This is a fake video." I tried to convince her because I have seen Jinjer live multiple times and she still didn't believe me. Then I showed her a performance from my phone at a concert I saw them at. Her face. She just looked at me and said, "How is that possible?" I couldn't answer her Tatiana Shmayluk is just on another level.
Great reaction ladies! The band is from Ukraine and pronounced ginger - like the spice. The singer is Tatiana and yes, that is her voice. You'll get some suggestions for live performances to show this.
Ja.....! Well, if you girls wanna see Floor doing harsh vocals like this you must watch "Yours is An Empty Hope" live at Wembley by Nightwish. And you'll get it..
Tatiana is so captivating. Her vocal translations are seamless and mindboggling. Definitely checknout Teacher Teacher official video and Perennial live at Wacken pronounced (Vaw-ken) as it's a concert in Germany. Also watch Judgement and Punishment Tatiana's one take vocal performance. Each Jinger song is unique and get better once you understand the meaning behind the lyrics.
Tatiana's growl comes from using her false vocal cords, not her true cords. As a result, she does not hold to a note, but also never has to strain to produce those sounds- watch, and you will see her throat remains relaxed. Her bandmates are each highly talented. What a great song!
Just read through the early comments. They covered the basics. There's a depth to this band that can only be appreciated by learning who the members are as people, and what it took to give us their art as we hear it today. I fell deep in this rabbit hole, and I keep finding gems along the way as I dig my way out. As mentioned below, Perennial live at wacken is a good next reaction, Because it's live, and mixed well. (Some cell phone recordings are too muffled to hear, but Tati, rarely wears the same outfit show to show. ) After Perennial, I went to teacher teacher official video. I'm not a Pisces, but I was hooked just the same.
This band is so good. I first heard this song and loved the music but didn't care for the growls (but it has really grown on me). Please check out more because for me this song isn't in the top 10 songs from this band.
They only added it back to the set list because of the number of views and subsequent reactions this video has received. You may have seen some of the interviews with Eugene and Tati where both basically come right out and say this isn't the strongest track from King of Everything. But hey, if this opens people up to taking a deeper look at the Jinjer catalogue, so be it.
Welcome to Jinjer the best thing in music today. The complexity of the band gets overlooked by Tatiana's insane vocals. Next stop Perennial live at Wacken. I've seen them 2x in person and they are amazing
It is all her. Just saw them live in September....Tati is an absolute beast with impressive vocal range, stamina and stage presence. The entire band is excellent. None of the current members of the band started the band. They are a Metalcore band from Ukraine.
At their heart, they're a prog-metal band, just with the addition of extreme vocals. They're not death metal as they lack the typical morbid themes associated with the genre. Musically, the band is talented and very skilled, and can and do play pretty much anything. For example, their song Judgment and Punishment is straight up reggae in parts. They're a harder, metal version of Rush.
Love the Rush comparison! I see the parallels too. I'm a huge Rush fan, saw them 36x live. Jinjer are heavier and more progressive--the things we love about Rush! And when you see Jinjer live, they're one of the few bands out there who match Rush for passion and performance ethic. Plus, ok I love Geddy like no other--but let's just say Tatiana is a lot more fun to look at!
I love watching people who are totally not ready for what is coming react to Jinjer😂 it is my favorite pass time. It is all her, please watch Perennial (the live version) and you’ll see all the screams all coming from her. And their band is classified in “progressive metal”💖
Very nice and fun reaction! 😄To see the real capabilities of Tatiana you can check the song "Perennial" live at wacken 2019. It was the last song of the concert and she delivers for sure!!🤘😄Also the one take performance of the song "judgement and punishment" is another good one to check!

Hilarious reaction... you didn't expect that at all...
I think we have a new genre of metal. From now on I'm officially calling it Surprise Dildo Metal.😂
You ladies need to do another reaction and give this woman credit for the force of nature she is. None of this is fake. She can do it live and it's 100% her.
Check out Jinjer - Perennial live at Waken open air 2019)))
I saw her Live...like thousandns of people in the world and festivals...Tatiana is unique...
8:20 Yep that's her.
You ain't seen nothin yet. 😂. This is starter jinjer. Buckle up. 🤘
Now, as a fan of metal for at least the last forty years, who wasn't really a fan of the female singers that came along until the last decade, I am confident in saying that this woman is *the greatest* frontman/woman I've ever seen.
The band that brought me back from the dead.
Saw them live a couple months ago, they are amazing!! Tati is…well…next level good. Suggestions:
Perennial live at Wacken
Cloud Factory live (better than official imo)
Vortex
Sit, Stay, Roll Over (brutal song, not for the faint of heart!)
Judgment &Punishment (one-take vocal )
Who is Gonna Be The One (live)
Teacher, Teacher (official video)
Pit of Consciousness (live)
That’s just the start of the rabbit hole…
+I speak astronomy
Everything from Wacken is good
Sit, Stay, Roll Over is so FN awesome.
I got to see them live with disturbed in breaking Benjamin over the summer and they were who I was there to see they sounded really good. I love her.
I love the pause for first impressions most reactors do about 5 seconds before the song goes hard. It’s so fun. ❤
Don't worry about the Nickleback comment. When i hear this, i always think of Britney Spears (at the beginning of course...)
These ladies cracked me up. Song starts and nickleback comes to mind. 1 minute later and the growl hits. Nickle who? 😂
100% percent her
Welcome to the Jinjer rabbit hole! You next need to react to “JINJER - Perennial (Live at Wacken Open Air 2019)”
"I thought of Nickelback"
"I don't think we've gotten to the crescendo yet .. "
Oh the shit-eating grin this put on my face hahaha
Good reaction! Do some more Jinjer please! A hug from Brasil
Tatiana is amazing. They sound superb live.
All her!!!!!
Welcome to JinJer😊. You're going to love the ride.
(Some cell phone recordings are too muffled to hear, but Tati, rarely wears the same outfit show to show. )
After Perennial, I went to teacher teacher official video. I'm not a Pisces, but I was hooked just the same.
I can say that Jinjer has become a sort of rite of passage for reactors... :D
Im gonna go watch her next year in March. Alot of metal bands gonna be in Vegas again. It was fire this past March. Lets go!!
Please do Jinjer judgement and punishment one take vocal. You’ll love it!!! She’s a badass. Saw Tatiana live a few weeks ago. So impressive!
Jinjer...like the spice but spelled with a J. And her name is Tatiana. MORE JINJER!!!!
Red riding hood version of Jinjer is called Judgement&Punishment (original video) ;)
@@ericpeterson7512 Yeah, her twitter feed can be... very interesting.
Welcome to Jinjer. That's all her. The band name is pronounced with a G like the spice ginger. Perennial live at Wacken shows her talent well.
I love watching people who are totally not ready for what is coming react to Jinjer😂 it is my favorite pass time. It is all her, please watch Perennial (the live version) and you’ll see all the screams all coming from her. And their band is classified in “progressive metal”💖
Ginjer has really mastered the Bene-Gesserit voice.
Very nice and fun reaction! 😄To see the real capabilities of Tatiana you can check the song "Perennial" live at wacken 2019. It was the last song of the concert and she delivers for sure!!🤘😄Also the one take performance of the song "judgement and punishment" is another good one to check!
