"Just trying to keep my child alive" 😂😂 (real struggle)
Fiorella Licitra that comment is a classic 😂
This will be me in May
@@Dothatchae I'm already leaving the struggle at 10 days post partum.. Oh dear!! 😰
I didn’t use swaddles for swaddling. They are great for laying them on, burping them on, car seat cover, nursing cover, changing them on, wiping up spit up, soaking up leaking milk. You name it. They are the do it all blanket
I used them the same way, I swaddled my daughter at the hospital but I didn't use them for swaddling after I got home from the hospital
Shit good tip
Even though I used disposable nappies, I bought a bunch of those reusable nappy cloths that are like little towels for burping and changing baby on. That's a hack I got from my mum, and it is so cheap and handy.
I still have like 15 swaddles from when he was a newborn, but he kept escaping, which defeated the purpose of them cause his arms woke him up. My baby's now 9 months old and he (still) loves sleeping in his Love To Dream sleep suit, so those old swaddles were pretty useless for us.
The halo bassinet was a lifesaver for me since I had a c section and couldn't lean over and lift baby out of the crib. We bought ours second hand and only spent about $40 for it! And it's like new!
That's amazing! Mine used was still 100$

When I was pregnant I did not do any shopping at all I was traveling too much to carry stuff around and when I finally settled down everything people gave me was enough and I slowly bought things as I needed them and it workout great
This is the best baby item regrets video I have seen. It could be because I identify with you; I live in FL too. Also, it's nice to know "popular" items are not necessary. I love that your regrets were more realistic because I feel the items you mentioned were designed for more money out of our pockets. The truth is, if our parents could do without them, and we turned out fine, our children can too. We can spend the money on something better or necessary or save it for our children's future. Thank you!
the thing I love about these videos is how different every baby and every mom is! for us, our moby wrap was a necessity. I got the wrap down right away so it never took long which was a blessing because when my baby was a newborn, he wanted to be held ALL the time. the only way I could do dishes, laundry, etc. was with him in his wrap! and we personally loved muslin swaddles. but not everyone does! for us, the two things we regret the most were 1) pack n plays that have attachments on the top. they never got use! and 2) an infant carrier car seat. I wish we would’ve gone with a convertible from day one! I feel like baby #1 teaches you so much about what to do differently with your second.
I’m due early March and just want to say thank you so much for this video!!! I’ll be starting my baby shopping soon so this video was incredibly helpful! Xx
I love my boba wrap :) My little one is 8 months old and we still use it. We do have a normal carrier for Dad. There is a learning curve to the wrap but baby loves it and made the first month so much easier. .. I totally agree with everything else. Something I would suggest is staying away from diaper drives. I have so many new born and size 1 because she grew out of them too quick!
I'm a first time mom to be and this was super helpful
Aroyan Duniya so glad! Congrats mama! Wishing you nothing but the best 😘
The wipe warmer is such a cash grab 😂 my sister had one and the wipe was immediately cold/room temp as it was taken out of the warmer lol
I use mine to keep cloth wipes. just put the cloths in there and pour water/soap solution in. couldn't imagine not having it lol
Corinne McWilliams ah yes that makes sense. For the disposable wipes, I didn’t find it helpful at all
This vedio brought back so many memories of when my baby boy was so little . I had a bottle warmer but my boy got use to warm milk and it took him a month to get him to except cold milk. Would not recommend it, lots of screaming lol. I also used a cheap walmart tall skinny trash can with a lid for my boys diapers, i put lavender scented bags in it and it worked perfectly and was cheaper 😁😁😁
Miriam Ramirez love the idea of the lavender scented bags! That’s awesome! And yea, totally agree on the warmer!
I have an 8 month old. Man I wish this video had been around before I had him! Your suggestions are mostly spot on. I do, however, have a baby carrier wrap that I took the time to learn how to use and I love it!
For me, the baby wrap was way easier to use (and more comfortable) than a carrier.
Dalai Mami me too. I didn’t find it difficult to use at all. I mean you use the same wrap sequence every time and when I’m wearing the baby 4-5 or more times a day, you pick it up pretty quickly.
@@evilclown42 yup! It's like tying a tie, once you figure it out, it becomes second nature. All the straps on carriers get tangled and take longer to clip together than putting the wrap on. I have chronic back pain and find that carriers put more strain on my back than wraps. I was even able to fit both of my twins in the wrap (at the same time) until 3 months.
I never saw a use for them either. Then I had a colic baby and I had to wear him all the time. They’re life savers when thats what you’re baby needs.
One regret I have currently is buying bulkier baby bottles. I bought several brands in case my baby didn’t like a specific brand. She takes every single brand ive given her so far so I wish I had just stocked up on parents choice or dr. Browns mostly and then a few avent bottles since those are my favorite even though they’re thicker. The bulkier bottles are just too hard to store easily especially when there’s already barely any room to begin with.
I'm a first time mom to be (week 27) and I just started buying babystuff recently. Thank you so so much for the video and keeping me from buying one of these trashcans!!!
Milena B hey me too I m 28 weeks and I already bought many baby items still looking for a crib swinger stroller and car seat 😅
I didn’t have a diaper genie with my first 7 years ago but I bought one for my second and she’s a month old. I use it EVERY single day. I didbt think it was useful with my first but now I would hate not having it!
I loooove mine. It's great for a small area because it's so compact. The refills are expensive but walmart has the parents choice ones alot cheaper.
The Baby Bullet was a regret for me as well. I still used it and the Squeeze Station a lot when my son started eating but this time around we’re just using our blender and regular containers/ice cube trays. Another regret was any kind of sleeper onesies with buttons, newborn socks, hats, hand covers, and infant shoes. We also had way too many onesies and he barely wore them all more that a handful of times.
All of this advice is so spot on, by the way. The only think I slightly disagree on is the Halo bassinest. I loved mine but I was a c-section mama. Being able to swivel that thing onto the bed without getting up was a godsend. Could I have used something else? Sure. I do regret getting the one with the extra buttons though. Those batteries die so fast and changing them is ridiculous. Definitely go with the base model for anyone looking at getting one. The buttons are worthless.
Receiving blankets make great burp cloths! It’s all used because we had a ton. They were a great size and worked so much better than the actual burp cloths.
I do love swaddle blankets too!!! They do have a learning curve, but I used those things like crazy.
I always tell my friends and family who are expecting to use their receiving blankets as burp cloths because they work and are so much bigger than normal burp cloths. My son was too big to be swaddled in them so instead of letting them sit there I used them has spit up and burp rags
I loved a wipe warmer for those middle of the night changes!
This has to be one of the most on point with my personal list of must haves. Wish I would've seen this before my baby haha
I recognized that Miami accent right away ! I’m from Miami also and it’s so easy to tell when others are from here also 😁 love the video thanks for the great advice ! I love how you get straight to the point
Good point about the stuffed animals and lovies! Plus, it’s not safe for them to sleep with stuffed animals until they are closer to one year old.
1st of all I had to stop you at baby towels. So I'm exspecting my 1st and I travel internationally ALOT. SO I already know not to buy too many things. EVERYTHING you are saying i already knew and I am so thankful, that you are making this video. I feel more strongly on my decisions while watching this video. My mom expects me to have a shower and SO MANY GIFTS like my friends and family but I know it will be way too much stuff!
I actually bought the baby blender. I'm a first time single mom to twins and I wanted to actually make my own baby food. I have enjoyed using it but I only used it for a few months. Now they eat finger foods so I dont use it anymore lol...
Seriously i just enjoy to hear you talking, your voice is just so soothing to me, it's incredible 🤣
Also the only time my daughter wears sleepers is at nighttime lol. During the day shes in a long sleeve onsie, pants and socks but I live in Canada so a little colder at night and she's 7 months.
These videos you make are so helpful. I’m having a baby in April, and I have no clue what to buy! So thank you!!
Sarah C ahh so glad! Best of luck with your pregnancy! Hope the rest of it is as stress free as possible! ❤️❤️
Congrats! I'm due in April as well, first time mom, so this is really helpful
What is your opinion on baby drying racks?
This was fantastic!! I could not agree more with these regrets 😊
Halo bassinet was waste of money for me, I transitioned my 2,5 month baby to the crib. She slept in dokatot for a little, like may be another 1,5 month and then started to sleep directly on mattress. Dokatot is waste of money for me too. I liked cheaper option, which had firmer pad. Muslin blankets/swaddlers - meh 😒, I could not swaddle my baby comfortable enough, she was fussy during the swaddling and right after, I used hospital swaddle. You are absolutely right about fancy clothes, no need to waste a lot of money on it. Shoes... Oh well, it is actually kinda hard to find right shoes for the baby, to form or at least not to damage growing baby feet. So from my baby shower list I ended up using only baby swing. My daughter is almost 14 month and I still using it for hands free time, like to wash dishes and cook really fast something. She hates it already 😂 but I just can not leave her alone in a room cause she jumps on couch and starts walking on it 🤦🏻♀️ If you decided to get muslin swaddle blankets, open several baby registries, buy from it or show to your friends/relatives couple times and they will send you basket full of different baby stuff. You can get different wipes, shampoos etc. Diapers. So you can try that out and choose what is best for your baby.
Copper Pearl newborn hats!! They are sooo soft and stretchy, and it was the only kind that would stay on baby boy's head.
I love my diaper genie but I got mine free, I also buy my refills from costco as I found it to be the cheapest place to get them.
Yeah my diaper genie was only like 30 something bucks I think. It has its pros and cons but price wasn’t a problem.
literally love you so much watching all your videos I’m 33 weeks today started watching you around 20 turns out your baby boys name is the same as mine !!! I’ve had it picked out for so long I just love it !
You can definitely just use a blender for babyfood. That's all that thing is anyways. As for warming bottles... stick it in a measuring cup with warm water if you need to warm. Done.
We bought a used older style Mamaroo for our baby. She didn't like it at first either but now doesn't cry when in it. Perhaps your son will love it and you won't need a regular swing.
All of these videos are so helpful, we have baby #2 on the way as well and it’s so helpful deciding what we want to invest in this time around! ❤️
I’ve been watching so many of your videos and they are so helpful thank you so much I really appreciate it 🙏
FTM and I think I did okay according to your list although I did invest in a diaper pail and wipe warmer. My reason is that I am going to cloth diaper and use cloth wipes so I needed a place to store and keep dirty ones till the next day for laundry.
Also I think I was smart with the bassinet I bought the pack and play bassinet that come with a changing table so I thought it was the most bang for my buck. But I feel really confident after listening to your list.
We are due at the same times it’s amazing but this will be my first! I have been following you advice a lot!
We LOVE our pack and play with changing table. LO is in our room still and is juuuust now growing out of the changing attachment (at 4 months), but we use the pack and play ALL THE TIME. No joke, the best gift we got.
I cloth diaper and our wipe warmer stays turned off and unplugged and is just a vessel to transport wipes. Just like a huggies wipe container. That I actually use more day to day. I will say we have the pack and play set up similar to what you described and it saved my whole entire life like 100 times.
This was soo helpful, thank you so much Kayla.
Tolulope Afeni so glad you liked it! Thanks for watching! 🥰
SO informative. I know this is an older video but I came across your channel recently and am 31 weeks pregnant. Going to remove some un needed things from our registry as we speak lol Thanks!
the only things i didn’t agree with was the bottle warmer and the swaddles. i got the same one she showed on amazon for $23 that I love, it’s super duper easy to use. if my mom is watching my son it just makes it so much easier for her to heat up frozen milk. also before we leave the house i might pump awhile before, throw it in the fridge, get ready, then reheat the bottle. i wouldn’t get a super expensive one though, they all do the exact same thing. you can’t microwave breast milk.
also the muslin swaddles are actually a life saver and i would recommend getting a lot. i use them on my shoulders for burping baby, lightweight blankets, car seat covers just to break the cold wind, if he’s laying on the carpet i’ll put one down, to cover me nursing around people, you name it. i don’t use them for swaddling, he sleeps in the SwaddleMe sleep sacks from target, because he likes to be swaddled and i don’t want to use blankets in his crib for safety. id recommend getting 2 small and 2 large, if you want to get 4 each (they come in packs of 2) that’s good too but you definitely won’t need more than that.
also wait to get pacifiers! i have a ton of advent pacifiers my son doesn’t use. but definitely get tons of pacifier clips, they’re literally a game changer. my son has all different colors to match his outfits 😀
and just to add: i don’t use my nursery right now for anything besides storage 😂 i have the 4 moms bassinet & changing table play yard and my son sleeps next to my bed in it. i HIGHLY recommend it over a pack n play if you want something portable, super easy to set up, bassinet & changing table included. easily one of my best baby buy’s.
Due January 7th and still need to get stuff 😩 thanks for helping!
Due on January 6th and still making sure I don't buy unnecessary items!!
This was very on point. I’m a mom of a five month old and I completely agree
Thanks for sharing!
So happy u shared this video 💗💗
We had so many receiving blankets that we didn’t use, so I had a quilt made out of them bc I didn’t want to waste them lol. I love the swaddle sacks too. We always called it a baby straight jacket 😂 my daughter loved being in hers though and I deff plan on using them again with this baby. We rarely swaddled with a receiving blanket
Taylor omg what a great idea! Yea we’re big fans of the baby straight jackets over here too 😂😂 lol love it!
The ubbi diaper pail! You can use normal trash bags. More $ upfront but cheaper in the long run!
someone actually gave me one of those diaper genie things and OMG!!! I HATED IT!!!!!! i dont know if its bcuz the damn thing is metal or watever it is but that monster would trap the smell of the diapers in there! so even if the thing was empty, it would STILL smell like it was full of diapers. i threw that thing in the dumpster SO FAST!!!! Don't waste your money on that sucker.
if you do buy anything to dispose of diapers, i recommend those Arm N Hammer baggies. They come with the little dispenser that you can clip to your diaper bag and they do a damn good job at keeping the smell at bay. you also may not need it until your baby is like 3 months or until their diapers actually start to smell like SOMEONE WHO EATS!
I would leave the hooded towels out completely and use regular towels. The baby towels are so small and thin. My son is so much more comfortable using our towels than the baby ones. Also I loved the Muslim swaddles. I used them for everything, not just swaddling...
I just posted my first video about the baby products we wouldn’t recommend - it’s interesting that our lists are so different! Check it out! ua-cam.com/video/P_atnV0twLQ/v-deo.html
You do not have to warm formula. That's one of those old wives tales. It is safe to consume at any safe temperature. Obviously not too cold or too hot but room temp is actually ideal. When you go to transition your kid to eating foods, same deal. Food doesn't have to be super warm. I fed my baby room temp formula and now food just so she doesn't come to expect hot or cold. She gets warmer and cooler things but the standard is room temp. It's a life saver when you go out and bring food/bottles with you. They don't spaz out when it's not a certain temp and you arent frantically trying to figure out how to make it that way for them. lol
Kristen Jessup When I nursed my youngest son and he was so adjusted to warm milk that when we weaned at one year we had to heat his milk for like a month because he HATED milk that wasn’t “mom temp.” Such a hassle. 😂
@@bertdellestep1215 Oof! Yeah. Oonce they are set in their ways, it can become an issue. I am lucky that my kiddo is happy with any food at any temp. She's just happy to be eating. lol
Baby gowns! I highly suggest baby gowns! Super easy diaper changes! I went to kid to kid and cleaned out the newborn gowns. It was not to much money and so worth it!
Not Of This World the woombie gowns are my favorite. And they come with a hat. My MASSIVE one year old has been wearing the same ones since he was 3 months old. I’m buying 1,000 this time around in all different sizes. They last for an eternity.
Bertdell Estep Alright! I’ll have to check those out!
Also, I have a dog that is very nosy with the trash, so I think the diaper genie is going to be great so I am not finding him going through diapers 🤢
Ashley Nicole yea in that case, definitely worth it lol
Sweet they still get into them no ideA how but they do and they seem to lovvvveeee baby poop n the gel that comes out
The mom I nanny for got a trash bin with a clasp handle (like a tote bin's clasp).
She also simply installed a baby gate on the door to the guest bedroom so the dogs couldn't come in while she changed a diaper.
Dogs go in that room all the time now but they've never even sniffed the diaper pail.
My mom had a diaper genie. And that thing smelled up the entire room. Does not contain the smell let me tell you 😂 the poop sits in there for so long, it just festers smells like crazy. Maybe they can up with a better design in recent years.. But WOW was that awful to endure as a child 😂
I think the wipe warmer is necessary in colder climates.
Wipe warmer is my favorite. Helps keep her semi calm during late night changes.
I hate cold makeup remover wipes on my face. I can imagine how cold wipes would feel on the baby’s skin especially at night.
@@kelegirl78 I mean if some cant afford one what not it's not a essential but it's one of my favourite gifts from my baby shower.
10 blankets I got from the baby shower? And all newborn sized clothes no bigger clothes :/ grateful but I needed other things like diapers
G L i was the same way. My mother in law worked at the warehouse for huggies or pampers gave my sister in law diapers until the baby was 1. With me she charged me more than a retail store 😑 wish I could of had a diaper raffle
What I don't understand is why anyone ever thinks that babies would need baby shoes. I'm a first time mom but it was a no brainer, I am not getting shoes for my baby until she is able to fully walk on her own. Why do people think baby shoes are a good idea? I mean I've never even had a kid before and I know they spend most of the time asleep bundled up.
Hey Kayla I’ve been watching your sleep training videos but I was wondering how many times would she nap during the day and what times I’m trying to set up a schedule for my baby. He does the same he doesnt sleep for more than 30 min and he doesn’t sleep at night
Our sons poop has stunk since Day 1. But could be because he’s on formula unfortunately 😔 so the diaper genie has come in handy.
I agree on the mamaroo. My baby hated it. I ended up giving it away to a shelter.
The mamaroo was gifted to us, so thankfully we didn’t spend anything, still hoping our baby likes it.😅
Amanda Gerry some babies love it! Mine just wasn’t one of those lol 😂
same!! babys not here yet but I always hear they love ir or don't care for it!
My baby hates it as well lol.
I was the exact opposite about the swaddles
Kaitlyn Beard same!
Luckily a family member let us have his old Halo bassinet!👍
I don’t get bottle warmers room temperature water works perfectly
Breastmilk from the fridge is too cold
I felt the same way about stuffed animals until my baby tuned 3 or so, now she loves to play with them! Totally unexpected!
Great video yeah your right girl because some people spend so much money and get all these things and don’t use them and I know my daughter is picky with her sipppy cups still lol haha Thanks for sharing ❤️
Maybe its just me but I never found it hard at all to swaddle a baby the old fashion way or use the cloth baby carrier.
So so useful, thank you!!
Thanx a ton. I repeatedly say that u r so realistic so raw! its amazing.. i love ure videos n i honestly agree with evvveery single one of these not to buy.
sajda diab awww thank YOU so much for watching and supporting! It means the world to me! 🥰🥰
This was a great video 😍💕
Subscribed bc my due date is dec 7 👯♀️
so is mine!
Alex Gonzalez getting close! 😬
@@gabriellel4496 How'd it go? 😃
The most pointless thing for me was a changing table, diaper genie, and bottle warmer. I change my babies wherever I’m sitting lol let’s be honest I’m not going into another room to change them. I just lay a Blankie down and change them. And this brings me to diaper genie- I just toss them in the trash. And a bottle warmer 🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️ they take forever, and gets them used it. When you’re out there is no bottle warmer.
My husband made me change out the Halo bassinet because he told me it was way too expensive. I ended up with a Fisher Price one that is like half the cost, so hopefully it works just as well! He made me change that out, yet he requested the $175 baby carrier to strap on himself 🤣
Ashley Nicole hahha, that’s men for ya! But yea, hopefully your little one likes the bassinet! They’re just all so picky when it comes to what they like, so investing in the most expensive option isn’t always worth it. Best of luck mama!
Kayla Buell Thanks! 3 weeks left until my due date. I am also due in December 😀
You will get a hell of a lot more use out of a carrier than a bassinet. Promise!
Even if you make your own baby food just use a nutri bullet. No need to get a specific baby one
Actually to make baby food you have to make sure it’s a food processor that doesn’t mix air into it so baby doesn’t get gas issues
Giada Amarini so a regular blender won't work?
Thank you , this was very helpful
Im a fist time mom and im lost
I personally bought way to many baby socks thinking she would be wearing them all the time when in reality she is typically wearing footed sleepers!
Babies only need a few cute outfits for pictures and that’s it
I’m in Miami too :)
Is it better to make a public amazon list with baby stuff or the baby registry ???
Kilo’s Asmr I used Babylist and really liked it
Make a baby registry! It's way easier for people to find and you get the registry gift with free stuff in it.
Registry. Easier to find. Plus the freebies are cool. And the completion discount.
I’d also suggest the Kiinde bottle system. It’s less cleaning and you can use different nipples if you need to.
I used baby hat to dry my baby hair after bathing him
I use onesies till 6 months no 2 or 3 pieces at all
I didn't bought shoes till he was 1 and half years when my boy started walking
I used wooden baby crib used till 4 years old
I bought back of 3 towels jut colored and plain hhhhhh
Didn't bought toys at all
I used warm cloth only no wipes but no changing diapers at night till morning 👍🏻
Warm no cold not healthy for gut😅
My son didn't like swaddle 🤕
You are 💯 right👍🏻🤣
I kept hearing that baby’s poop doesn’t smell idk if it’s the formula but my baby’s diapers stink pretty bad I have to throw baking soda in the bag
Adri C I hear that breast milk baby poop isn’t bad but formula baby poop is much worse (I don’t know from experience, expecting my first in March, just what I heard!)
Breastfeed babies poop don’t stink it’s formula feed babies that the poopy stinks
A bassinet was one of mine. My son never used it. I just warmed my sons bottle up in the microwave lol
How would you warm them up if you weren't home?
how did you sleep with riley without using the bassinet? =0
Lol I'm only 12 but I love babys and want a lot so I which all these videos lol plus my mom is pregnant with baby number 12
Hey I’ve been trying to reach out on Instagram 🥺

Lalique Pretorius I know 😭😭 that’s the last sit down video I filmed in there 😔

So what did you give your poor baby? Fast food?! 😂🤦🏻♀️
Not sure it is a good idea to give a newborn baby cold milk. An older baby great but be careful the advice you are giving
