I feel bad for the artist who drew it, people dont think much but artists put A LOT of effort and time into these, making and adding details that many people dont notice. Specifically with the amount of details hoyo characters have.

Edit 2: Lost the 50/50 after clearing Fontaine and cleared almost the whole area of sumeru just for her banner to end and still didn't get her. So what i did was just quit the game completely and that loss also motivated me to go to the gym and actually work out.

you dont have to like the art itself to respect the effort and time. the picture is great and the author's style is neat, but it does feel a little weird to see ei being drawn ... like that.

A person with a childish personality throws tantrums, not the other way around, genius. By the way, which Archon ever ran a country alone? Most of them didn't, like Zhongli, Venti, Nahida, and Focalors. None, literally zero. Venti was not a threat to the Fatui, so Mondstadt got away easy. Zhongli had already planned things out with the Fatui and Tsaritsa-he even put Liyue and the Millelith guard in danger (here come the angry Zhongli stans).Nahida and Ei were in similar situations where Nahida was powerless and got imprisoned by the sages, screwing up Sumeru with the help of fatui . In Ei's case, the Tri-Commission and Fatui were powerless, so they teamed up to screw Inazuma. I doubt you have read any lore or comprehended what I have even said.

Sumeru was a matrix dystopia with people getting mind controlled and human-experimented on, resulting in the creation of a synthetic god that could have caused untold horrors of damage.
Fontaine might as well never had a god, and many people died when the whole continent flooded.
In contrast Inazuma having a minor civil war with the full brunt of two harbingers trying to bring the nation down and minor degradation of the Sacred Sakura tree seems kinda quaint, doesn’t it?

Ei is essentially a very innocent person with a kind heart, so the art matches just fine. People just are degenerates and want "step on me mommy" but that's Raiden before she was freed from her torment so modern Ei isn't the commanding and tyrannical type they wanted and can get over it. She likes to sit, read and enjoy sweets cuz she's a lil sweety.

I just think that the Birthday art fits her more in-tune persona as per now in the story,where she is more relieved than before and have intention of changing what earlier she perseive as "Eternity" ,now that she dealt with her past she is more relieve to express her cuter side,something we didn't see often,so it's a nice touch for the artist to show that side of Ei to us.

childe was always pretty wholesome with his family and casual to others. again, just a passion for battle and a lot of loyalty to the tsarista. scara had a redemption just like ei, and you can see he’s not as wholesome. his personality didn’t change much, he’s just more nonchalant and wouldn’t kill people who are causing no harm.
ei didn’t stay the same. she was redeemed and then became very sweet which was a big difference from when we first saw her. she was poorly executed as well so that doesn’t help at all.
Serious and cool? Yeah, before it was primarily Ei in the open, who is bubbly, naive, and cheerful, and who the birthday is for.

I've learned that in twitter, 40% of the hyv dramas are dumb stuff that should never have been a drama to begin with if twitter wasn't exaggerating and being dumb (Like this one or the mina aoyama """drama""")
30% content creators drama which is ALMOST always just the CC's acting like children and scalating childish fights to another level (Like brax and Atsu's drama)
15% reviving drama that's already been discussed a trillion times, be it more or less serious ones

I think they could have made her look less "childish" and "cute" because it doesn't suit her.
While personality wise Raiden is a total cutie it's just not a good look on her and I get the disappointment.
But in the end the issue is not with the artist, they did a good job. Hoyverse is to blame as it is their responsibility to oversee review the official art for their game. They could have asked the artist not to draw her with a literal baby face but they didn't.
