    This sounds like a wonderful contemporary, and I am SOOOO in the mood for this kind of book, and I love the fact that it takes place in New York!
    Great review, Mollie!

    I LOVE how you talk about books, and quotes are the best! As you say, sometimes a quote can so perfectly articulate the feel of a book :) Hope you had a great vacation x

    Such a thorough and amazing review! I'm past that young twenties stage in my life, but I love books that pay so much attention to character interaction, and how people impact each other's lives. I'm waiting for this to come in at the library, and now I can't wait!

    This is an awesome review! If I wasn't on a minimal book buying ban I would put this in my Amazon cart immediately. I love how I feel your passion for this book through this video!

    Your articulateness and enthusiasm in this review, (and the pretty cover) were the reason I purchased this book. I'm 16 years old so I'm not sure if it's appropriate for me, but I'm willing to try. I was definitely shocked to go on Goodreads and find many poor ratings and 2-stars... Could you try and understand their perspectives and why this might've been a bad book for others? I just don't understand how one can completely be in love with a book, and how another can't stand it. Thanks! :)

    I'm always on the hunt for books about people in their twenties, and this ended up being a much coveted coming of age story about a twenty-something that I thought was so unique and special. The environment, the characters, and YES the writing. There are so many quotes and scenes you can pull from and obsess over. (I wrote down my favorites too!) But at the same time everything fits together in a kind of thrillingly weird disjointed perfection. I loved it.

    I bought the book because of this review. It was like pulling teeth to get through the last half. It just waddles around aimlessly and then wanders off.

    Lovely review, Moll! This sounds like a book that will inevitably give me an existential crisis...but for some reason I really love that hahaha. That last quote gave me CHILLS. Also, Zoe just chilling on the couch is everything.

      @MollieReads  8 років тому

      THANKS girl ;) Hahaha, existential crisis is right on the money. But it's just so GORGEOUS. And Zoey = everything all the time.

    hello to your kitty who shadows you in this video :) i am currently reading this book, and i agree the writing is beautiful, but i really wish there was more plot. i am 50% in, and i'm getting really restless, because not much is going on, just a lot of descriptions and mini-episodes.

    • @MollieReads
      @MollieReads  8 років тому

      Isn't she the cutest? And oh, yes, this is definitely true of Sweetbitter... it's not for everyone, unfortunately. Definitely more character-driven, and I loved it more for the beautiful prose. I think a lot of people feel the same way you do about the plot though!
