If they were smart about character selection they could keep rereleasing the main characters almost every year and never have to worry about sales dips.
I find it ridiculous that they release so many figures from BOBF. But the main character Boba Fett with the correct outfit is still not there. So I finally decided to bite the hard bullet and got myself the SH Figuarts guy. Yes, he is very expensive, but comes with his nice chair and some stuff. Otherwise, the only thing I still would like to get is a Black Series Jango Fett. Anything else...I am pretty much done with them (but my field of collection is rather narrow anyway - characters portrayed in some way by Temuera Morrison. Which still gives plenty of options).
I started 5 years into the line, the dark ages (sequels) took me just over a year to catch up and then I began to learn how much the up to date collector suffers. I mean you need a separate calendar to mark down releases so of which are over a year away! I was a completionist until 2022, then I started to become selective. Hell I’m in Canada and even here we get the shaft from Hasbro quite regularly 😂. Shipping costs and inflated exclusive prices. And now it cost $41.80 and that is for a regular release figure. Exclusives are $51.80 so nowadays I buy what I like and I play the waiting game a lot more to get the figures for a price I’m happy with. Keep up the great content. Just subbed! Later eh!
The sooner collector finally realise that Hasbro dont give two fucks about collectors the sooner we all will spend our hard earned money with company who actually care about the ppl who work for them and their customers .
What about pre-orders selling out in minutes, how do you sell out of something that you haven't produced yet? Why would you cap the amount pre-orders available to consumers on your own platform? Exclusives only benefit the scalpers/resellers because they only need to buy up from one source to screw over the collectors months down the road when they're charging 2-3X the price. I live in Canada and have had to buy figures from the US because their distribution is so low up here you can't find anything in stores or online. They've created their own problems by not doing the one thing a business is supposed to do, have enough product to sell to meet the demand of your customers. Instead they're creating an artificial FOMO effect in order to get people to sit on a website in the middle of the day to click "pre-order" or else you're not getting the figure. But these are for kids.
Nice video Jas - good to hear the "other side" of collectors with their frustrations. Clearly shows as well you truly know the market and the commerce for collecting rather than just showing us figures and collectables. Keep it up...and I pray you manage to get hold of these next year! 🤞
This is just what hasbro does its nothing new. The guys from out of the basement said it best. It doesn't hurt me to have new collectors to be able to get stuff that was already released. I don't collect to get my kids through college I do because I like the figures on my shelf. I don't know why people are complaining about it being re-released. I do agree with you that the exclusive market needs to stop it makes getting them ridiculous. I collect multiple hasbro lines and the exclusives are always a pain in the ass to get.
It could be that Amazon US demanded that the product was exclusive to them. Not great for us in the UK and our good friends in Europe, but Hasbro may have had their hands tied. I ordered one from the US, which cost just over 50 quid, including postage and import fees. Not too bad in my opinion. I fully appreciate what you are saying though. It seems utter madness that we can get US store exclusives pretty easily in the UK, yet collectors in the US have to jump through hoops! Utter madness. Thank you for the video. Always nice to see UK collectors here on UA-cam.
The Emperor is one of my favourite characters. I wish I could get that figure. Stupid not releasing it here. Mind you, they are not the only company that makes it difficult for overseas fans to get hold of certain action figures.
@@beardedgeektoyreviews836 Yep! 🙂 I learnt it from other toy collectors. The community has been pretty pissed off with Hasbro for a number of years. They are the worst. They tend to "destroy" their competition (other smaller toymakers) by purchasing them, mainly in order to get their filthy hands on only one or two super-successful IPs the smaller companies produce, and then they cancel everything else they did, which results in less products overall on the toy market (also meaning less competition) and people's losing their jobs. Great example is Larami, a toymaker of a great variety of toys Hasbro bought in the '90s only to acquire rights to the Super Soaker range. Within a couple of years of the acquisition, Haslow dissolved entire Larami and with it they stopped production of completely everything they made, except for the Super Soakers, of course. And a more recent example of how pathetic Haslow is is their purchasing the entire Power Rangers (PR) franchise from Saban Corp. in 2020. Mind you, PR had been continuously going for nearly 30 years prior to that, under Saban. Haslow then managed to render the IP non-profitable in just three years or so; about a month ago they announced that they are about to lease the PR licence to Playmates Toys until further notice. I mean, this is just ridiculous.
Are you sure it's not being released here in the UK? I bought mine in 2019 from Amazon UK, it had been out a little while before I decided to get it and it cost £60.00. Maybe that was the import price and I didn't notice?
I’ve done searches on both Amazon UK and other UK sites such as Star Action Figures (which sometimes picks up the US exclusives for the UK), absolutely nothing listed so far. Sounds like you got it for the imported price as it was $35 when released back in 2019 and it’s $45 on Amazon US for this re-release. Shipping prices have increased dramatically over the last few years so I think you’d be looking at around £60 again if you wanted to import it, plus there’s the unpredictability of custom charges too!
There was a huge bidding war between lots of toy companies for the licence before The Phantom Menace was released, as Hasbro who had bought Kenner stupidly let the licence lapse. Hasbro paid a huge amount to ensure Mattel didn’t get it so not sure what you’re trying to suggest. The SW licence is still huge and worth a lot of money to toy companies, even today. So if Hasbro lost the licence, not going to happen as it’s too valuable to them, there’s plenty of other companies who’d happily make SW toys (Mattel, McFarlane, Super 7, Playmates etc)
People just love bitching and complaining. Sure, Hasbro sucks. But if you somehow think that Hasbro is making it harder for collectors to collect by releasing MORE figures, then you are simply a fool. There are also international only releases, like the archive wave that was released this year, that U.S. collectors have to go out of their way to get if they want to be complete or want a certain figure. Part of the collecting game has always been about exclusivity too. Some of the rarest pieces in the Black series are exclusives.
U S A, U S A, You shouldn’t be buying toys any way. You have enough. lol. That deluxe figure is nice I have 2 of them. They even had a sale on him for 30 and the hits just keep on coming! Lol
Palpatine now up for pre-order on Amazon UK - amzn.eu/d/5ScAbF2
If they were smart about character selection they could keep rereleasing the main characters almost every year and never have to worry about sales dips.
How is it they say its difficult to sell these figures lol they could literally make billions of clone commanders sell all units

Thanks for watching and thanks for the sub mate 😎

I don’t know, perhaps if they gave two fucks about collectors they wouldn’t have Q1 profits down by 24%??
I'm from the UK, I've changed my Amazon to USA to order the emperor, it says they will deliver to the UK if you pay delivery charges
How much they charging you for delivery??
$9.65 shipping tax $10.93 collection tax

Thank you Chris, I’m hoping between now and next March, they’ll change their mind on the exclusivity and give European retailers some stock.
This is why I got out of Black series in 2020, Hasbros decisions are very sketchy.
Haslow

Interesting points made and thank you very much for watching 😎
Just give us a set with the extra accessories and I’ll pick up the actual figure at Ollie’s 😂.

Very true my good friend!
Haslow Strikes Again!!! 😞

And if Hasbro didn't make Star Wars figures who would? Why cant we be greatful for what we have. After 83 Sw was pretty much over untill 97.

*What IS, not "What are," since Hasbro is a single thing.
