What a cozy system the Wii was. I'll always prefer the Gamecube but sometimes I forget just how many amazing games the Wii had. It did give me my favorite game of all time, after all.

It's crazy to look at how many amazing games that are on the Wii. Personally nothing can top Super Mario Galaxy for me, but I really can't argue against Wii Sports resort!
Apart from Mario Kart Wii and Animal Crossing my favourite game on the Wii is Go Vacation. It's like Wii Sports but with an amazing open world that surrounds it. You and all of your friends eventually get an own villa which you can design freely. I love those five areas you can just chill on an spend your time on. In the Sea Ressort you get beach vacation vibes with all surrounding activities, but also get to discover secret areas while driving around with your quad or jetski. In the City Ressort you can drive around with inliners or skateboards. Activities like motorsport, bungee jumping from skyscrapers or skateboard halfpipes build such a nice atmosphere. In the Snow Ressort you can do all things related to snow and winter. From snowboard races, ice fishing to driving around with your snowmobile. This has everything you need to get winter and christmas vibes. My personal favourite is the Mountain Ressort just because of the large and beautiful open world. Driving from the bottom to the top of the highest mountain with your car (or even ride the way up on your horse!) across waterfalls, bridges and tunnels. Everything in this area is just perfect! The mountains, the big lake on the bottom, the castle on an island in the lake, the green landscapes and so on... The game may look like a cheap copy of several other games. But until this day, it is surely one of my Top 5 video games of all time on all consoles. I have spoken! :D

I would like highlight Go Vacation, its minigames are not really fun but exploring the worlds felt incredible. I played it again on switch this year and felt like a kid again, especially when I found those secret spots in the map that almost feel like you are out of bounds
This is such an amazing list full of games I've never heard of as well as amazing classics! Great job with your channel and know we'll always be right behind you. You (and your mii) will never be alone!
This is probably the best run down of any system I’ve seen. Absolutely nails the core of what the Wii was all about and love your justifications for why things were where you had them.
@@AlbaniaTr90tough to answer. The Wii was groundbreaking and offered a new way of interacting with video games. The Wii U is the same thing with more power and the ability to play handheld. I think the answer sits more with the individual. Wii was an absolute smash at Parties and social events because of the physicality. I feel like people were over this by the time the Wii U came out. I have always been a massive fan of handheld gaming so I kinda rooted for the Wii U but I don’t think it was the best implementation, limited by the tech at the time. Wii U library also isn’t the best and the best thing on it is a reworking of Windwaker for me. I think I’d have to give it the Original Wii personally.
Super Paper Mario on the Wii is my all time favourite game, so well put together with such attention to detail and fun collectibles and yet is so underrated and under appreciated. Nice to see it getting some love here 👍❤️
17 years later and I am still playing the Wii daily. My son is obsessed with HOD 2/3 and links crossbow challenge. The only console out of the box that you don't have to buy extra guns for
People bash wii for being gimmicky but the real king of the system is pointing controls. Its so intuitive, and is 1000% better than gyro aiming. I wish this feature stuck around Monton controls however can be hit or miss but when implemented well, they can be great too. It's a shame the system got overloaded with half baked games.
My #1 Wii title is No More Heroes 2. Lost in Shadow, MadWorld and Pandora's Tower would also be in my top 10 alongside Prime 3, Galaxy, Twilight Princess, Animal Crossing, Brawl and Xenoblade
Im always so happy when this guy uploads, he has the perfect voice and editing skills for these kinds vids, deserves to be on the same level as Nintendo life
Great selection of games on your list and thx so much for including Okami in there! One of my favorite games ever and like you mentioned, it didn't sell well unfortunately so always happy to see it get some love. My only gripe is Tatsunoku vs Capcom didn't make the cut, such a well made and fun fighting game but this made me think on my own favorites so thanks so much! Other games I'd recommend to those who tried out your list and are looking for more Wii games to try out: No More Heroes 1&2, imagine if Quentin Tarantino and Takashi Miike were commissioned into making a Wii game and you might get something like game director and designer Goichi Suda conjured up here with these two titles. Over-the-top, stylistic violence, eccentric and bizarre monologued cut-scenes with memorably twisted and unique characters mixed with fun motion controlled beam sword action. Funniest save screen and recharging mechanic as well! Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn, great entry and conclusion to Ike's game and story that started on Gamecube, Path of Radiance. Greatly enjoyed both titles as they were my first entry into this series. The weapon triangle system is easy to understand and the tactical RPG, chess like placement of your characters made it engaging and entertaining for a turn based RPG. Rockstar's Table Tennis, yeah, Rockstar just made a super technical table tennis game that's so surprisingly deep and requiring precision that you'll probably lose to your AI opponent on easy even after finishing the exhaustive tutorial. If you played Wii Sports tennis and thought you wanted something 20x more demanding and technical, here it is, just with table tennis instead. Bit Trip Complete, collection of 6 challenging 8 bit inspired games with simple controls that I completely adored, especially the runner game, which got a sequel on PS3 among other systems. There's also a plethora of quality wiiware games among the shovelware that was available like Cave Story, Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney, Sam & Max, Homestar Runner, Final Fantasy 4: The After Years, Castlevania Rebirth and to top it off, it gets even better once you get into modding
i started playing on my childhood wii again and man its a blast! all the virtual console games and the amazing unique wii games i wish nintendo went back to making games like these
My favorite games on the Wii 1. Wii Sports (+Resort) 2. Super Smash Bros Brawl 3. Super Mario Galaxy 1&2 4. Pikmin 2 (Wii version) 5. Rayman Origins 6. Rabbids Go Home 7. Xenoblade Chronicles 8. nice list, the most underrated WII game of all time is.......... Wii Play TANKS. Tanks was the simplest, most difficult, yet fun wii game of all TIME. I think about that a lot and it has been years. They needed to have their own game, not some side piece of a mini game.
Wii sport resort is for me the definition of happiness on a video game, when you launch the game you are happy for real you want to play instantly ! It’s very rare to procure this sensation in a video game
From the moment I saw the title I knew what the top game would be! It never gets old to listen to you talking about Wii Sports Resorts. Just yesterday I watched the history of Wuhu Island again
This list is incredibly solid, but if it were me making this list - there is a amazing forgotten game on the wii called - Battalion Wars 2 - with an amzing soundtrack, replay-ability (thanks to online), story, and etc.
Thank you for giving Skyward Sword some praise. It’s my favorite video game of all time, and even though it’s mostly nostalgia-based, I do think the story and design are objectively good, even if it’s a little repetitious. The Skyloft music and general area have grown to feel like home.
I have no doubt that the Wii is the best console ever. I remember my parents getting the system when I was three, and the first game I played was Wii Sports. I had fond memories of playing Mario Kart Wii, Super Mario Galaxy, and even Wii Sports Resort.
Absolutely amazing list. Saw a whole bunch of classics and new titles on here that looked fun to play! AND GOD DAMN, COUNTRY RETURNS, EPIC YARN, MARIO KART WII, AND NEW SUPER MARIO BROS. WII? THAT SHIT WAS MY FUCKING CHILDHOOD DUDE THANKS FOR GIVING THEM ALL SOLID RATINGS
really cool list, personally I'd put Sin & Punishment 2 & Monster Hunter Tri somewhere in the top 5, also Red Steel 2 is arguably one of the best implementations of the Wii motion plus & just a really awesome game altogether. Consider these 3 games my recommendations, although MH3 might be a bit hard to get into but there's a private server that grants access to the online portion which is just fantastic cause you can find other people that will help you experience such an amazing experience imo.
I suppose Radiant Dawn's fate was sealed when you mentioned not liking turn-based combat too much, but still, this is a pretty neat list! Hope you continue having a blast with your channel!
I personally like Super Sluggers for my Wii mario sports game. Im not much of a sports guy, but i prefer baseball out of everything. I like how you can make a team with perfect symatry. The controls could of been better, but the game is so much fun
Agreed! Sluggers was and is still my favorite Mario sports title to date. It still holds up and is so incredibly fun. It's inevitable we get a sequel eventually...right??
Sports guy myself, love basketball, football and baseball in that order and modded my Wii 3 years ago and booted up Super Sluggers a couple months ago (rather large library to get thru!) While like you said, better controls could make it even more fun, it’s one of the most enjoyable arcadey baseball games I’ve ever played! Right up there with the MVP Baseball series to me. Making your own team is a blast and has such fun mechanics.
This is a great look into wii games. I haven't had time to play video games much (but intend to resume a dance game, for exercise). But I'm thinking of pulling out the console around Christmas time. I need to pick the one or 2 best games, so I'm thankful for a resource to help make that selection. I like the choices put forth. Excitebots: Trick racing (arcade style)??; Wii Party; Zack & Wiki: Quest for Barbaros' Treasure (puzzle game, brain teaser to solve; great motion controls; IP?); Donkey Kong Returns, **Super Mario Galaxy (classical music), & **Mario Kart wii; & the #1 Wii Sports Resort sounds great. These stand out to me... maybe also the Rhythm Heaven Fever (relaxing concentration)
It was originally in the list but I ended up cutting it as I kept adding games. Just too many other fantastic games unfortunately. I was sad too as I still love that game a lot!
My top 20 of games I have played: 20: Wipeout 3 20: Lego Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures 19: WWII Aces 18: Cabela's North American Adventure 2011 17: Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga 3:02 16: Lego Pirates of the Caribbean 15: Fishing Resort 14: Donkey Kong Country Returns 11:39 13: Disney Universe 12: Super Mario Galaxy 13:50 11: Super Mario Galaxy 2 10: Rhythm Heaven Fever 6:09 9: Wii Sports 8: Animal Crossing City Folk 7:15 7: Wii Fit 6: Wii Party 1:59 5: New Super Mario Bros Wii 5:07 4: Super Smash Bros Brawl 10:03 3: Mario Kart Wii 13:18 2: Wii Sports Resort 14:34 1: Go Vacation
I remember working 2nd shift, get out at 1030, me and a few of my coworkers would go back to my place, get drunk and high, and have HEATED wii bowling matches. The wii was great and i still got mine from all those years ago.
Welp, I agree with most of the list, except for 2 games: Mario Super Sluggers, for me, was the most rewarding Mario sports game on the Wii. The island and the recruitment of every character was top tier when I was a kid. Each stadium had it's own tricks and personality, that I think only a few stadiums from Mario Strikers could match. And the other game is Donkey Kong Jungle Beat. I know it came out originally on the Gamecube, but when I was a kid, I liked it better than Country Returns.
My personal favourite is Rabbids Go Home. I used to love the game so much when i was young, and i always wanted to play it so much. I'm not 16, and after 7 years i finally got to play it. I could never be more happy.
I love your shot out fr Wii Party. I kinda wish as a kid i had mario party, but now i like that i have Wii Party. Ive had a blast playing it again with friends and getting annoyed with the controls or unfair ai
Me and Hero might not have the same taste in games, since either most of the games in this list I don't like or haven't played at all. But there's one thing we agree on; that Wii Sports Resort is unmatched and will remain as one of the greatest games of all time.
I still have the system somewhere at home. Wii sport resort and Wii Party are amazing! Mario card and other games you recomended as well. But I had a lot of time playing even games like Harry potter and the Half-Blood Prince. They made such a great job with this one. Also part 1 and 2 of the seventh HP is way better and fun than on pc. Lego games are well playable too.
I have lots of fond memories of the Wii. It was the first console I bought with my own money. I played it for years and after that my nephew inherited it 😁. Then he got a lot of mileage off it. We probably have hundreds of hours combined between Mario Kart, Just dance and the bowling game from the first Wii sports!!
Okay let's see... Epic Yarn over Return to Dreamland, noted. Mario Strikers Charged over the other 2, based. Skyward Sword over Twilight Princess, noted. Galaxy 1 over Galaxy 2, based. Wii Sport Resort over Wii Sports, absolutely based. Have you ever played Warioware: Smooth Moves? Great list!
@@callinater6133 No I agree, 2 refines and polishes a lot of 1's ideas/mechanics- it's the much better game 𝘵𝘰 𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘺. But I praise 1 for its scope that includes characters, story, overworld and all that stuff you've likely heard before. Plus the fact that it was the first one, the ideas and engine were completely fresh, and how in sync it was with the Wii's approach in 2007.
@@voyan38 yeah that’s fair. Though I think it isn’t the story so much as it is the presentation and scope of it. The basic premise is still the same. Rosalina’s storybook doesn’t really relate to the main plot but it’s a neat piece of world building that sadly got forgotten about by Nintendo. If by overworld you mean the hub, I thought it was a nice and cozy set piece, though functionally it was already kind of a level select with extra steps. Galaxy 2’s hub was simply more upfront about that and was more streamlined as a result, though it did serve as a nice little playground to get yourself familiar with some of the game’s mechanics like the gravity and Yoshi.
Very surprised Mario and Sonic Olympic Games wasn’t on here. Definitely in my personal top five. I remember spending nights playing that game customizing snowboards and everything else.
Don't get me wrong it's a nicely put-together video, however, you should really consider overturning your bias for 1st party games, as many of the 3rd party exclusives (including those you mentioned) on Wii outshine them. Also wouldn't it be more challenging if the basis of your list was what game is better, not which do you like more. Nice video all the same
Resident Evil 4 VR on the Quest series of Headsets is to me personally the best way to play the original version of Resident Evil 4. I play it on Meta Quest 3 and it's just so good.
Seeing Wii Sports Resort at #1 put a smile in my face

Consider these 3 games my recommendations, although MH3 might be a bit hard to get into but there's a private server that grants access to the online portion which is just fantastic cause you can find other people that will help you experience such an amazing experience imo.
Bro forgot one of the best baseball games ever, Super Mario Supersluggers
I had never heard of Wario Land: Shake It! until seeing this. I've been playing it today, it's really good. Cheers for the video.
babe wake up new Nintendo Hero vid just dropped
I suppose Radiant Dawn's fate was sealed when you mentioned not liking turn-based combat too much, but still, this is a pretty neat list! Hope you continue having a blast with your channel!
I agree with the comments mentioning Go Vacation, it is sooo good. Another one I loved is definitely epic mickey!
W
I remember the campaign had alot of fun on that one
Sports guy myself, love basketball, football and baseball in that order and modded my Wii 3 years ago and booted up Super Sluggers a couple months ago (rather large library to get thru!)
While like you said, better controls could make it even more fun, it’s one of the most enjoyable arcadey baseball games I’ve ever played! Right up there with the MVP Baseball series to me. Making your own team is a blast and has such fun mechanics.
THANK YOU for including Zack and Wiki 🙏🙏🙏
Maybe Go Vacation?? instead of Wii Sports Resort?? or Super Paper Mario?? instead of Super Mario Galaxy??? mentioned in the comments..
I just know this is gonna be a banger
Wii party slipping to #24 is heartbreaking, absolutely adored that game
Question: What game is the song from at marker 0:02 ??? (Excellent video, Excellent list.)!!!
Thanks! And that's Daisy Circuit from Mario Kart Wii!
@@NintendoHero Thanks! ...... Very catchy and nostalgic feeling song.
Nhl Slapshot goes so hard! Even if you’ve never played hockey it’s incredible
disappointed that go vacation didn’t make it into the top 25 💔
It was originally in the list but I ended up cutting it as I kept adding games. Just too many other fantastic games unfortunately. I was sad too as I still love that game a lot!
@@NintendoHero fair enough no worries ❤️

I remember working 2nd shift, get out at 1030, me and a few of my coworkers would go back to my place, get drunk and high, and have HEATED wii bowling matches. The wii was great and i still got mine from all those years ago.
Great to see the xenoblade love. That series so near and dear to my heart that I love to see the positive reception it gets
Welp, I agree with most of the list, except for 2 games:
Mario Super Sluggers, for me, was the most rewarding Mario sports game on the Wii.
Mini ninjas is an amazing game, fully deserves the shout out❤
Wii Sports Resort makes me feel like I'm 8 years old again
Take me back
I liked this video and nice list, but I would also put the original wii sports on this list as well
i love ur picks bro
16 years ago....thanks for making me feel Old
excellent list! I'm new to you, will now have a look at your archives :-)
I love your shot out fr Wii Party. I kinda wish as a kid i had mario party, but now i like that i have Wii Party. Ive had a blast playing it again with friends and getting annoyed with the controls or unfair ai
Whats the name of the intro song to this vid? I keep hearing it and it’s on the tip of my tongue but im not sure
That's Daisy Circuit!
New Super Mario Bros looks great! I'm definitely going to check that one out.
Nice video :D
but wheres twilight princess?
honestly hearing talk about these games makes me want to go back and play them now 😂 definitely want to try and get wii party and rhythm heaven
The endless ocean games and fishing resort are 3 games that are very relaxing and are worth a try if you haven't given them a go yet
Me and Hero might not have the same taste in games, since either most of the games in this list I don't like or haven't played at all. But there's one thing we agree on; that Wii Sports Resort is unmatched and will remain as one of the greatest games of all time.
And table tennis is the best of the best motion minigame, with Lucia as the ultimate boss of bosses!
I worked in the studio while Mini Ninjas was developed. But I worked at another game. But saw it being played everyday by my colleagues.
Wait what that's so cool
that's awesome, I think it's amazing
Great list!
I got Smooth Moves like a month ago but still haven't played it yet, should really do that soon
IMO best in the series, I hope you enjoy it man @@NintendoHero
Galaxy 1 being better than 2 is hardly a based take as I see it a lot.
I think 2 is honestly a much better game. Holds up a lot better on replays too.
@@callinater6133
No I agree, 2 refines and polishes a lot of 1's ideas/mechanics- it's the much better game 𝘵𝘰 𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘺.
On my list are these games: Endless Ocean 1&2, Go vacation, Animal Crossing, Skyward sword and nights into dreams|
I have so much nostalgia for Wii Party!
Very surprised Mario and Sonic Olympic Games wasn’t on here.
Definitely in my personal top five. I remember spending nights playing that game customizing snowboards and everything else.
I THOUGHT I WAS CRAZY FOR LOVING MINI NINJAS DUDE ITS GREAT
Due to that fact you have outstanding opinions im leaving a like and a sub🤙👍🤙👍 you deserve this ➡️👑
Mini ninjas is definitely my go to nostalgia game
The wii resort is awesome I played it 24/7 and nothing was more fun except maybe animal crossing I played that a lot too
Finally, some love for Mini Ninjas
Hell yeah! Wii Sports Resort is also mine!
Finally Xenoblade is on someone’s list! What a wonderful game!
Nice video all the same
I would have to put wii sports, wii play, and super sluggers on the list somewhere. But interesting list nonetheless
Super hero squad infinity gauntlet. Had/has my heart
Resident Evil 4 VR on the Quest series of Headsets is to me personally the best way to play the original version of Resident Evil 4. I play it on Meta Quest 3 and it's just so good.
