Mister Rodgers taught my generation empathy, understanding, kindness, and acceptance of others. My son has Mark Rober to teach him creativity, imagination, engineering, and the confidence to find solutions and change the world. Resources like Mr. Rodgers and Mark Rober are absolutely invaluable to kids born into families that lack in those areas. Thank you, Mr. Rober.
Quick question I feel like I don't know what to do. I'm in my 2nd year. I don't know what I would like to do. I don't understand how people come together and build something meaningful. In my opinion that's unfair that you don't get a graduation for an Art School. Why does society get to decide how important an interest/hobby/achievement is to each individual... So what if they think an Art School is not as important to them, but it is to you and presumably every other student in the same boat as you and since it is important to you why can't they celebrate that you achieved something? You crushed the speech in the best possible way and it was truly inspiring as is so many things you do are. My son loves watching all your videos (as do I!), has been a CrunchLabs subscriber since it was announced, excitedly looking forward to S2 and camp CrunchLabs, and also has aspirations to one day go to MIT when he's older. To be able to share this with him was amazing. Thank you for all that you do!

MIT class of ‘24 here- never have I been so jealous of my seniors. thanks for the amazing speech and i’ve got my fingers crossed that maybe you can include a couple of us younger generations in the back of your mind ;))
What's incredible to me about Mark is his confidence to give this speech. He teased himself, famous people, and MIT at several points throughout. The amount of allusions in this speech ensured that everyone would resonate with it in at least one way. The humility he showed and down to earthness(Is that a word?) showed his human side which is really cool to see. That is true confidence in my opinion, and I hope the MIT graduates and everyone listening to it can bring some of this confidence into their lives to make the world a better, non-judgmental place.
Mark, that speech was amazing and I am so grateful as a non MIT grad, I was still able to learn and be inspired by you! I will definitely be using your advice! Thank you

I've been struggling to graduate this year in HS and this speech has definitely helped me to review my position and continue on. Thank you Mark for that and all the amazing content you make for millions of people.
Well done, Mark. Having worked at a major University for almost 30 years I've been to hundreds of graduations. This is one of the best I've ever heard.

Wonderful, thoughtful and emotional commencement speech Mark. Also to bring your mom into the picture, a lovely tribute. Well done! Bernie, Sydney Australia.
This was an amazing speech that everyone can take into consideration, no matter what age. You are genuinely so cool for doing this, and I’m sure all of the students think so too!
I have just now finished my Freshman year of high school, and for nearly two years I have had my sights set on one single goal. I want to be where those students sit. I have planned my high school career down to the minute, and I am working tirelessly to stand out among the thousands of students just like me. I feel as if I want it just as much as anyone, yet I cannot help but feel out of place, imposter syndrome, as it may be. Your speech was a rally cry to me, as well as everyone out there. I know I cannot directly relate to everyone who actually sat in those chairs, but it is so amazing that you shared this experience with the rest of us, and I cannot thank you enough for what you do.
Sr. manager / software architect here... 22yrs experience in the industry..... the imposter syndrome never goes away. But spending some time to accurately reflect on your efforts, your accomplishments, and your professional relationships DOES help to assuage the guilty feelings of "I'm not sure I belong here"
I’ve never related to a UA-cam comment as much this one, I’m also struggling through this weird era of highschool and it’s hard to keep my head above water. Just know no matter what anyone tells you, nobody has it figured it. We’re all just following what our little our brains and hearts have to give us. But feel comforted by the fact that you don’t have to re-invent the wheel. In this generation, we have amazing role models like Mark that have paved the path for us to do amazing things. Keep going strong, follow your gut.
Mark: You, an experienced engineer who drew inspiration from your Mom's life experience and encouragement, have now received a standing O from some of our best future engineers; and that is the cherry on top. I cant believe it when they said you where gonna come here and give a speech. I rushed to the cafeteria to see you and sign a magazine. Thank you so much. You’re such an inspiration!
this is the best speech I've ever heard! It is a perfect example of how to structure any speech and deliver it. Mark, thank you! you're such an inspiration!
we didn't deserve two videos in the span of two weeks, but we got it anyways... and you definitely didn't disappoint

He went from teaching party tricks to giving public speeches at the most prestigious School and University, Well earned and well Deserved Mark :)
Think he was an Engineer for NASA before he started teaching party tricks
He literally worked on the Mars Rover after graduating from MIT.
I'm not sure if this will sound wrong but now I wish there was a video about Mark's mom - she sounds amazing and inspiring
That doesn't sound wrong at all. I completely understand. To have raised her a child, into the adult that Mark is today, she had to be a pretty amazing woman!
Mrs Rober sounds like she was among the vaunted company of being an _Ultimate W Mom,_ I personally think my own mom could be counted among them but that might be personal bias, but Mrs Rober objectively sounds like she's a true OG Ultimate W Mom, especially what with her positive influence still continuing forward even a decade later.
Rober's speech is inspiring and motivating. It is a reminder that anything is possible if you set your mind to it.
it is made by gpt he said😂
Perfection is only made when you can see the pureness of what his words really meant. Awesome job, Mark Rober.
can I just say I think the most inspirational part of this for me is listening to you mess up words the same way I do all the time and just keep going. Thank you so much for not being perfect.
You had my full attention for entirety of this video. As a genZ kid who has been raised in an era of short-form-content this should be enough to tell you how great your speech was for MIT 2023.
Amazing Speech Mark I loved it! As someone currently in college this really hit me and it was very inspirational.
If there’s an award for most inspiring individual you deserve it, Mark, through all of your work whether intentional or not you instill curiosity and a passion for impacting the world into everyone who watches and listens to you.
4:35 that gave me goose bumps. I can’t even express the beauty in that moment and the nostalgia that went through me.
This was epic. And your mother’s influence may have started as ripples but has developed in to tidal waves. This brought back so many memories of my university graduation with a not so spirit boosting speech. My husband and I love your channel and now my daughter loves it thanks to the Adley colab.
This is great advise for anyone really not just people from MIT!
The comments on your videos are always nothing but positivity. I absolute adore this. You are a genuine and amazing person.
Your content is so great. Pure, fun, clever, genuine and stimulating. Well done as always Mark!

love how this comment was made 2 minutes ago and the video was made 3 minutes ago
Great speech. As I was watching I remembered my day of graduation and imagined you as our speaker and I got goosebumps with that thought. Thank you for this inspiring message.
Thumbs up for you!
The word you're looking for might be pragmatism.
Keep rocking.
Thank you Mark for this awesome speech!

Im officially starting college in about two months. You've been the main reason I'm going into mechanical engineering. I'm going to The Ohio State University, and its been a dream of mine for years now. This speech has made the fear of college more manageable. Thank you for always being an inspiration
Best of luck!

for you attending such a bottom feeder school.....
Congrats dude! Learn from me, Professor Leonard on UA-cam is incredible for learning calculus, Jeff Hanson is incredible for Statics courses, and Libgen for textbooks. Get involved in clubs, internships and extracurriculars because they are more valuable than grades for work opportunities, and don't give up! This degree is more a matter of persistence and discipline than sheer intelligence.
I've been struggling to graduate this year in HS and this speech has definitely helped me to review my position and continue on. Thank you Mark for that and all the amazing content you make for millions of people.
You got this
This is genuinely Impactful.
Naive Optimism is the reason I am still here today.
Thank you Mark.

I couldn't think of a more deserving person to give this speech. Congratulations Mark!
Well done, Mark. Having worked at a major University for almost 30 years I've been to hundreds of graduations. This is one of the best I've ever heard.
I watched this a few days ago, and I have to say that I found your speech funny, but also unexpectedly wise and worthy of repeated viewings. This was a brilliant speech.

Wonderful, thoughtful and emotional commencement speech Mark. Also to bring your mom into the picture, a lovely tribute. Well done!

That was FANTASTIC. Great advice and one heck of a fun ending. You were rock solid and your presentation was spot on. Congrats
This was an amazing speech that everyone can take into consideration, no matter what age. You are genuinely so cool for doing this, and I’m sure all of the students think so too!
I love how you were trying to encourage Gratification!
Saw your speech on MIT's page and I gotta say you've inspired so many people to push past the difficulties of life and get through. Thanks Mark!
This guy puts so much work into all his videos! He never fails to amaze me!
Mark is ALWAYS so kind to people it’s nice having people like him around
Listening to your speech was the most fun part of my day!!!
legit saw this uploaded in the MIT channel on yt, you are a amazing motivational speaker
Honestly same here after 10 years experience in the video making field, but I convinced myself to become more confident.
I heard one Asian Kid got hired by Google after all University refuse to let him in ... he just saved 4 years of white hairs
We were able to stream this live. Legendary moment, something I will never forget. Mark is the perfect person to give the commencement speech at MIT.
Mark: You, an experienced engineer who drew inspiration from your Mom's life experience and encouragement, have now received a standing O from some of our best future engineers; and that is the cherry on top. Congratulations, Class of 23, and this retired engineer can confirm that Mr. Rober's three points will enhance your life.
Aww this comment is so inspiring. Thank you.
DEI exists, they're not our best and brightest. Turns out the best and brightest ended up at Hillsdale or Liberty U where they give admissions by merit. @@DanielleSnyder
Hello Mark, you probably wont see this but im graduating from Highschool today. I've been waiting for this day since i entered the 9th grade and you and your videos have been with me since 8th grade. I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for making such interesting and entertaining videos. I'm not trying to become an engineer but seeing your videos and the way you build things light up my natural curiosity. You're the best and thank you
Congratulations! I hope your future is bright and full of joy and wonder!
Been following your channel for a while so was soo excited when you were announced as the commencement speaker. Truly mean it when I say this speech made me a better person and I've watched it multiple times now haha. Low key wish you were speaker for my year (2025) lol but I'm just honored regardless that you spoke at my schooool. Thank you so much for an amazing speech and an even more amazing channel!

Ngl, this is a really touching speach. I finished school last year, and after this gap year a have no idea what I want to study, there are just too much possibilities. After this speech I will just take the leap of faith and see what comes at me.
Thank you Mark Rober, I always enjoyed your Videos and I will definitely keep you advice in mind.
Love you Mark! How can a speech have soo much influence!
