I just reupholstered my kitchen stools. They have non-threaded inserts in mdf and they all pulled out. After watching this incredible video, I’m thinking I need to purchase threaded inserts and use epoxy. Im thinking that I could repair the hole and then drill in the new inserts. Do you think the repair will hold? Do you have any other suggestions. Im so disappointed as they all pulled out the first time I sat on it and leaned forward to get off 😭

It should work we repair MDF with epoxy all the time.
If it is flakey put some thin instant glue on it and let it absorb in and harden
