I ordered the 2023 890. Very first thing I’m doing after tidy tail is the Rottweiler air intake conversion. I ride dirt bikes. This is a big dirt bike for those who know how to ride. End of discussion
Cmon I just finished changing the 2 air filters on my africa twin and that a pain in the ass. Have to remove all fairing on the front. Its 2 am... ktm design is so much clever
The Africa Twin is a pain for sure. Highly recommend the Twin Air oiled foam kit. The 790/890 air filter is pretty straight forward. The air filter on the 1090/1190/1290 Adventure is an all day job. The fuel tank has to come off as well as most of the body.
@@UPSHIFT_ONLINE I hope the Norden 901 or maybe 501 which I plan to buy as my next bike is going to be as simple as the 790. Until that I'll check the oiled foam kit, thanks.
It turns out, the 2 airbox drain plugs can suck dirt. On the wrong side of the air filter so it can go in the engine. The pre filter kit from KTM fixes this but its on back order.................. These bikes do dust their filters out rather your riding solo or behind someone.
Thanks! So you know if it also fit the 890 adventure R? I didn't find it in the ktm spare part catalog for the 890 but could se that the stock paper filter had the same part number
That is a UNI Filter. You clean it and re-oil it as necessary. Much of that depends on how you are riding it. Are you on pavement or are you running around in the dirt pulling in a lot of dust?
@@UPSHIFT_ONLINE Both pavement and dirt but not too much dusty trails. The fact is that here in Greece where i live, which is a very small market and EU also, we lack of a lot of products. Ordering from US is not worthing cause you pay 3 times the price of the product. Anyway thanks for the info.
The UNI Filter is a foam filter so any good foam filter cleaner and oil will work great. Motorex, Maxima, No Toil etc. Talk to your shop and ask them for a recommendation for foam filter cleaner and oil.
Deep water riding? Assuming you mean crossing streams/rivers etc... run a foam filter. If you are crossing streams, you are likely riding a lot of dirt and foam is much better at keeping dust out of your engine than pleated filters like K&N. K&N is great for more predictable applications like riding tarmac most of the time.
So easy compared to ALOT of other bikes !!
Compared to the 1090, 1190, 1290... it practically does it on it's own.
Thanks for sharing the part number of the foam filter; makes ordering it a lot easier!
You bet!
Well you just sold me a KTM890 after air filter changes on an Africa Twin.
Yeah, the air filter change on the Africa Twin is a bit of a chore. Thank you for watching.
Thanks man, great video!
Glad it was helpful. Thanks for watching.

It is a big dirtbike and it handles accordingly. And it has pretty good manner on pavement as well. Enjoy the new machine.

We have always had the pre-filter kit installed. Thank you for the heads up. Hopefully it comes in soon.
What type of grease are you using? The motorex bike grease 2000?
Yes, we use the 2000.

Which company is this red foam air filter? How often do you replace it and is neccesary a pre filter too?

What about deep water riding K&N
or foam ?

@@UPSHIFT_ONLINE but is foam better keeping out water than pleated......?
Do you recommend the snorkle filters for multiple days (8 day trip) of dusty riding?
Messo in verticale fa cadere lo sporco nell'airbox.
E questa sarebbe KTM, il riferimento per i fuoristradisti? 😮
So is the foam filter still washable like a dirt bike?
Yes it is. Twin Air makes replacements too.
Hello, does that foam filter come Pre Oiled?
We believe so. But you will want to ask your dealer to be certain. It has been a minute since we made this video and do not remember.
Thanks for the greese tip!
Sure thing!
A lot more easy than my 1290 sar....
Yes, the 790 is a much easier air filter change than previous Adventure models from KTM.
