careful when watering your tomato plants, they dont like their leaves to get wet.. and make sure to take off the 'suckers' so the plant puts more energy into making flowers and tomatoes vs.foliage. Pick one main stem and the rest pinch or cut off. what a garden transformation ! :)

You can save your vegetable scraps in the freezer and then mix them straight into the soil as compost. A lot of people will tell you that you need a compost barrel and you need to stir it around every so often but the truth is you really don’t. Straight into the ground works perfectly well.
I am curious though, won’t that plastic tent just keep the rain off and therefore make your plant dry??

Here in america when we plant our tomatoes (atleast my mother does this) before we put the plant in the ground, we first sprinkle the hole with crushed egg shells and magnesium sulfate--epson salt. It helps them grow stronger and better. I did an experiment by testing which method worked best, with or without the additives, and with won out by a long shot. The plants grew twice as big and therefore had twice the yield for a longer period of time, than the plants without it. If you choose to do this, you still can, just gentle dig around the plant again and sprinkle it in.

My very dry, dead veggie bed has become loamy, and full of earthworms.. first time in 20 years of living here. And the leaves were free! My sister, who keeps a horse at a local barn, told me the barn owner was giving away the compost pile and to just come get what I wanted.. I got two laundry bucket sized loads (what would fit in my car) and put those on my garden this year as well. I have no dead plants this year!

That is one thing I love about the Japanese, they do everything precise and everything has to be done with precision! Not here in Australia, we just rush stuff and hope it doesn't end up bad. Jun, the garden looks amazing. Good job Mate!

Splendid choice Jun. I played Harvest Moon so I know that Tomatoes are Summer Veggies, they grow 10 days and you can re-harvest them every 3 days. Splendid choice indeed.

To keep away late blight from the tomatoes by keeping the leaves drier.

Nice and calming 🥰 If anyone is inspired to plant stuff: I recommend planting tomatoes a lot deeper, if you take off some leaves and bury them a good 10cm deeper it'll be much stronger. And the water should not hit the leaves or tomatoes, it can lead to burnt leaves, disease or split fruits. I recommend watering at the base, not directly at the stem. Happy gardening 🥰

Just a tip for watering - make sure the tomatos and cucumbers dont get water on their leaves, it makes them very prone to sicknesses, especially the tomatoes! ;)

Hey Jun, do you a late summer garden update for us? I’m not sure how far you live from your garden, but if you have to travel quite a bit everyday to water, this super simple self-watering system might be helpful. Especially since the tomatoes need quite a bit of water.

Your vlogs are always the best. So chill and relaxing, not trying to be over the top and exaggerating what's happening, but still entertaining with good production. Just showing off interesting stuff that's happening in your life. That's what I feel like vlogs should be. Hope you're doing well. Love y'all

@@BewareTheLilyOfTheValley as an Asian, body genetics aside, I'm always intrigued how some people can NOT do the squat - the balance thingy.... And yeah, it's very practical during mountain camping without matresses let alone chair. I can just squat and cook on the ground.

I have a very small backyard and we just ignored it except for mowing until last year when my husband wanted to try gardening. He asked me what vegetables I wanted and I suggested cucumbers because I really REALLY like pickles. So far each vine we have has produced enough cucumbers to make half a gallon of pickles. Before the season is over I'll have at least four gallons of the things. So mind those cucumbers!
