- In this episode, the princess alliance goes to the Fright Zone to try and rescue Scorpia but Bow and Glimmer run off to find Bow's Dads without telling the others for no reason but these characters have never been great at communication. On top of all of that, we finally are let in on what Grayskull is but the revelation wasn't really worth the wait. Also, Adora isn't there for this scene so she goes on not knowing what Grayskull is despite being the one to call on it when transforming. So in other words, a lot more wasted potential which is pretty par for the course at this point.

Anyone seen the original She-Ra episode where Perfuma managed her own against the Horde by basically being too positive (and powerful) to realize she was being held prisoner? That was fun

Do you remember when Greyskull was the first king of Eternia? The one who started Adora's and Adam's lineage? When he charged without hesitating to a battle he knew, by beforehand, he wouldn't survive? The one who defeated Hordak, banishing him to another dimension, and also defeated the Snakemen?
Do you also remember when Greyskull's wife became the first Sorcerer who guarded the Castle of Greyskull?

I like to imagine a series where Hordak hears that the Great Rebellion just got an ally that shouts "For the Honour of Greyskull" and his reaction is a combination of Hatred and Fear.

Grayskull has no special meaning to it anymore. In the original it was a connection to Adora's true birth place, her home, her family, her honor, but in the new one it means nothing to Adora. Yes it's a rebellion similar to the one they have now but Adora has no emotional connection with them and she'll never will.
I figured since they decided to make She-Ra a mantle that Greyskull was going to change to but honestly it's just weak.
Adora: "What exactly IS Grayskull?"
Madam Razz: "Grayskull is a Symbol of Protection and Hope, my dear. It's Power is so great that it transcends all of Time and Space and could reach you even in Despondos.
That's why no Source of Energy, not even a Runestone would have allowed Hordak to open his Portal.

I find it really frustrating that after all of this time, Glimmer is still leaving without telling anyone; even though that has caused so much trouble for her and everyone around her.
At least she’s consistent with that.
I KNOW RIGHT and if they weren't going to fix that they could at least make me feel bad for her on losing her mom or SOMETHING so I wouldn't have to hold a grudge on the character

Grayskull went from an ancient castle full of secrets and mystic power named for a great hero-king....to a group of random rebels. To quote James Rolfe "What were they thinking?"
The answer is actually quite clear: They weren't thinking.
Basically this show can be summed up as "In name only". Literally. They have the names but can't use anything else from the mythos, so they made up some substitutes.
It'd be like if Superman wasn't from Kansas or Krypton.

Perfuma's pacifism is a very weak excuse for her inaction.Its been made clear that this is the chip's doing not the person and her decision to just use her words instead of her full power put Adora in danger.I don't think the writers realize just how selfish this makes Perfuma look as she would much rather keep her personal oath than use her full power to save her friends.She could've easily used far stronger plants to restrain or incapacitate Scorpia,but I guess the writers really wanna drag this brainwashing thing out as much as possible.
Even pacifists have to fight. Perfuma is just high on drugs. She has botanical powers, after all
yeah I always hate it when these shows do this, specifically mind control stuff saying "they're our friends we cant hurt them" like dude you dont have to kill them just tie them up/constrain them or knock them out I think they'd understand you giving them a black eye if the alternative is mind slave for an evil genocidal tyrant
@@sonicyuuki2292 I know. Have you seen Slayers? Prince Phil, Amelia's dad, is a pacifist but he still fights. Granted his attacks are pretty unorthodox (example his "Kindness to All Creatures Kick" or his "Pacifist Crush") but still.

Perfuma and Nets were both one side of the same coin, in that they only acted because their love interests were in danger, making them reactionary characters, and it makes me wonder what if Spins or Scorpia didn’t get chipped. Perfuma would’ve been less of an idiot this episode, so it’s a step down for her, and Nets wouldn’t have taken charge, which is a significant step up, but then you realize that it wasn’t out of obligation to save her friends or her world (since she seemed fine being sidelined for most of the show before), but because she lost her waifu, shipping. You know, maybe if SpinningNets was the shows OTP and other relationships were just better handled, it be less of an issue (albeit still makes Nets reactionary), but of course this show needs to have so many relationships to be somewhat relevant

I think it was the planet the ancient ones came from, but that might be a future episode.

If only the writer actually give Netossa more screentime during season 1-4 then the princess would be able to defeat Catra faster ,like they only really need Mermista and Netossa to beat Catra :/

The original show hasn't aged all that well, I can admit that. It is absolutely ridiculous and yet I still think it's better than the Steven Universe version of the same.

One thing that bugged me was how Bow was worried about his dads, but not his many brothers. Did the writer of this ep just forget they said Bow had about a dozen brothers? Then again, considering what Noelle Stevenson said about the brothers, it may be for the best.
How Grayskull was handled in this sort of plays into two theories I have about the show's writing process. One that there was no bible or really solid plans in place at the start, but that they were making things up as they went along. The other theory is one writer hoped they would somehow get the rights to the other Masters of the Universe characters and connect it with this show, but that never happened so they had to scramble to answer the questions that needed answering.

Both Greyskull theories are probably true. There was even a rumour going around that Kyle was going to be Adam/He-man. If true I'm guessing Theory A is the reason Theory B didn't happen.

I think the whole thing was inserted in the show only to make the Batman-joke.
A few things regarding the mine control and weaknesses bit.
1. Spinarella's weakness feels like a total copout that they come up with at the last minute. Maybe I'm mistaken, but I don't think they ever mentioned her having a bad leg, or even if they did I don't recall it factoring into anything. It's on level with having a big boss monster with an arbitrary weak spot in a video game.
2. Aren't psychological weaknesses worthless against people that basically become robots when mind controlled? It's not like there's a trace of their original personality in how they act, so wouldn't any psychological weakness be worthless towards them? I don't see the point in bringing them up.
3. The mind control is being maintained by the chip. It's not like there's some conditioning that the have to break, they just need to either destroy or take off the chip. So why did they even think just trying to talk to them would work on its own? It's not like they wouldn't just be brought under mind control again once they calm down. I get that the show acknowledges that it won't work, but they still try to talk to her and apologize without knowing if she can even understand what they're saying.
Spinnerella's weakness makes even less sense when you remember she FLIES!
As for the mind control I think it's just a mix match of tropes without any further thought.

Yeah also I felt have if it was just general “hey look at how meta we are you guys, seriously, we’re so clever” honestly I feel current writers need shock collars for whenever they try to be meta
Trying to force someone to overcome a physical control device (especially one you can EASILY REACH) over a conditional one is also ridiculously selfish because you are refusing to actually help them in hopes they can validate your own feelings. "We are such good friends you shouldn't want to hurt me! If you do then we must not be that close because you should have overcome this!" etc. It's using cheap drama to drag out a plot element that could be solved in two minutes.
The obvious answer is that the writers didn't think that far ahead when it came to Greyskull. They knew they had to have Adora say it to transform, but didn't think "hey, since this is a new version, we may have to explain what this is" until they were on their last season.
It feels that the only thing they had planned was to make She-Ra end up with her female friend-turned-rival (since I doubt they even knew it was going to be Catra until later down the line), because no other plot points feel properly set up or followed through.
And even THAT plot was sloppy.

1. Because the writers thought the reveal was more important than the set up.
2. They didn't think of it yet.

Don't you get it, Bow was his brothers. His fathers thought the cloning process to make him may have done some serious damage to his mental so they allude to Bow's personalities as his "brothers" and said that they were all older and live in other parts of the kingdom. This is why there's no pictures of them, no names actually said, and why Bow has never mention them.

wanna know a good pacifist character? Gosha, from Beastars, he is Legosi's grandpa, he is a pacifist, but believes that pacifism only has value if the strong uphold it (i.e. You need strenght to defend your ideals) so, if he needs to fight, he will and he is very good at it.

Also hank pimm for “Avengers Earth Mightiest Heros” in that show he’s a pacifist and often tries to talk down the situation/help rehabilitate but he will still fight if needed and his fighting style is based around subduing/preventing them from fighting

The fact that they completely cut all ties to the very heart of the Masters of the Universe franchise by reducing Grayskull to just a bunch of rebel fighters is really the final nail after a long line of nails in the coffin that confirms that this show is She-Ra in name only.
Let me say this first, I have no issues with a reboot changing things up. Far from it, it is more often than not a necessity if you want to make something that works for the modern age. When Thundercats 2011 got released the writers made some pretty sweeping changes to the backstory like the Thundercats not fleeing from a dying planet but having to flee their fallen kingdom instead after it got destroyed by Mum-Ra. This may have been a big change, but what it did was making the Thundercats' fight vs Mum-Ra way more personal. Now he was the one who destroyed their home and he was the one who brought all their ancestors to Third Earth from space, which tied back the original lore by having the Thundercats and Mutants as aliens to this planet. Considering how prevalent Mum-Ra was as the primary antagonist to the Thundercats in the 80s series, there was at least some basis for rewriting the backstory this way in the reboot. In the end, the consequence of both the original show and the reboot is that there is a small group of survivors of a nearly extinct species who is trying to find a home in a hostile world, thus the spirit or the original is being carried over into the modern version. So yeah, a pretty solid retelling.
The problem with making Grayskull a rebel group is that it completely disconnects itself from the spirit of the original series. Unlike the He-Man 2003 reboot which added to the origin story of Grayskull while at the same time making some changes to solidify the personal connection that Adam had to these powers, the She-Ra reboot is just taking away anything that could have actually been built upon from the classic She-Ra origin story and the significance of Grayskull. Adora has no personal attachments to this ancient group of rebels and the revelation of what Grayskull is means nothing to Adora's own personal development into becoming a hero and protector of the name. This is in stark contrast with the original where Adora's origins and Grayskull were more connected thus giving her a sense of place in the universe and a purpose which leads to her joining the rebels to fight Hordak. Not because she needs to, but because she wants to. Don't know about the rest of you, but that showed more acts of heroism than this reboot managed to achieve over the course of several seasons based on all the reviews the twins have made among others.
If you ask me, I'll stick with the original series and hope that a better reboot comes along that understands how to build upon the bricks that have already been put into place. This version just wants to crush the entire castle built upon decades of lore with a wrecking ball. The writers don't have have enough talent or respect for what's come before to make something that would last even a fraction of the time that the original She-Ra and He-Man have lasted.

This just cements a thought I've had since I gave the first couple episodes a try, and then switched over to watching your reviews. And thought is this:
This is not a She-Ra cartoon. It never was.
This is Noelle Stevenson having a story she wanted to tell, but lacked the courage to tell it on her own. She should have done what the Steven Universe crew did: create their own setting and characters. If she had an original setting populated by androgynous characters who exist in a world that is basically an expanded version of D&D's *Expedition to the Barrier Peaks* or Pathfinders *Numeria / Iron Gods* setting and includes every flavor of representation she wanted, that'd be FINE. Because then she's making her own original property, and the only thing I would be able to complain about would be the technical aspects of storytelling, such as pacing, if the stories make sense, the animation, the character design, presentation, etc.
Instead, it's clear Noelle felt she wouldn't be able to get her original property made on its own, so much like how the G.I. Joe filmaker stuck those Accelerator Suits from his failed movie pitch into that movie, Noelle somehow managed to get a hold of the She-Ra franchise, and used it to tell her story. All she did was basically take her existing setting and give it the most superficial resemblance to the 80s She-Ra setting, with just enough concessions to the original setting that it couldn't be outright dismissed.
It's a real tragedy that 2002 Masters of the Universe series died before they could introduce She-Ra and Etheria. That would have been a lot of fun.
This show is one huge letdown, and I appreciate you two watching this so everyone else doesn't have to. Thankfully it's almost over for you all, and you'll be able to move on to something less annoying and more enjoyable. Maybe do a review of the original She-Ra series?
It annoys me that people try and prop up Noel as a great creative but she has done Jack all.

Given the religious themes in Iron Gods, Noelle's understandable antipathy towards megachurch religion, and Paizo's QUILTBAG-friendliness, that would've been an ideal match. However, it was Dreamworks, not Paizo, that liked her webcomic, so here we are.

Let's be honest...
This show is Steven Universe having a son with Voltron and that son trying to be like the Cool kids (Avatar) and failing at it.
What I want to say here is... Not having sense is not longer surprising

I think another great way to describe it would be the show runners are more focused on the documentary 10 years later on the greatest cartoon shows and how they “broke the status quo”. They don’t really care about the show itself just the attention they will receive from it.

Once again we see that things like Story, World Building, and Character (in a word: WRITING) are tossed in the gutter because lesbian shipping is what this series is about.

@@arcatia66 They had 52 episodes to build their world and build their characters as they envisioned them. (I don't really care much about She-ra canon, I've never cared much for the character, myself - I thought she could use a reboot the way they did Thundercats in that 2011 series). Avatar only had 54 episodes.
I bring up Avatar, because the She-ra series was very obviously patterning itself off of it (Adora was Ang, Glimmer was Katara, Bow was Sokka, Katra was Zuko). This is not a criticism. They were using it as a model, (and it's a pretty good model to follow) but they weren't following the model closely enough. Their world building was inconsistent. The people and countries affected by the Horde's invasion were rarely more than props in the background or, literally painted in the background. They consistently stepped on their own character development, often by dropping in Swift Wind or Sea Hawk to make an annoyingly lame joke. Maybe they thought that would work for their 8-year-old target audience? The kept kicking mysteries down the road and finally in their final season they had to dump all the exposition they'd avoided the first four seasons. And, as M & J point out, they often contradict how things worked in earlier seasons.
And most of these story problems are things that they could have fixed with simply a little more work in the writer's room, especially working with a look at the story beats over the course of the season or series as a whole, and in the pre-production work on the world building.

The best thing for the writers is they didn't talk about the characters. Then they say they do/did anything and you're just supposed to expect it as truth and not lazy writing.
As for "Grayskull" I don't think anyone critical of this show expected anything meaningful, and low and behold. It retcons stuff from the beginning.
My problem with this series is how boring and dull are the fights, i mean...is a WAR! Some of combat drama would had been welcome, but i don't feel any character in true danger, throw them raoh, madara, blackbeard, all for one, any shonen anime villain to the rebellion, and she-ra and cia. Would had been truly wrecked...

So, You are telling me that Netossa had this SKILL SET and intel from the get-go, Bow and Glimmer really ditched a battle to go find his daddies when they DIDN'T have the time and Perfuma is selfish as Netossa!
Firstly, Netossa was HAPPILY sitting by and allowed possibly millions to get hurt, killed, and enslaved. Instead of making and EFFORT for the forefront! Only manning up when HER wife is in danger... -_- THAT IS JUST SELFISH. She is a nation's leader and she should care less ABOUT HER DAMN NATION OR THE PEOPLE! Only giving a damm when her wife who ALSO sat ideally by and doing the bare minimum as well. This is just making this 'heartfelt' moment between them MEANINGLESS when I see WHAT THEY COULD HAVE OFFERED! Upon watching this couple just ONLY interact with one another barely seen otherwise which causes them to be seen as a joke or deadweight throughout the series is not worth even putting in the story! IF they had from day one to have her and Bow be leaders or second and third in command to better the lackluster group they are the blissful useless background characters.
They were badly introduced or should I say PUSHED INTO THE FRONTLINE and badly written; Because you know VERY WELL SOMEONE WOULD'VE CALL THEM OUT FOR THEIR LACK OF INVESTMENT THEY SHOULD have from the get-go!
While you have Bow the former leader or strategist is now a concern daddies boy...who didn't for what everyone in their right mind would do when the WAR is happening PUTTING HIS LOVED ONES UNDER THE GUARDS PROTECTION! OR KEEPING THEM IN A SAFE BUNKER! By this timeline they GENUINELY DON'T HAVE TIME FOR THIS! They staff cluttered this series up for them to shoot themselves in the foot for this GLIMMER AND BOW time! And ANYONE with a brain would say HEY IF YOU ARE NOT GONNA GIVE US YOUR ALL YOU CAN STAY BEHIND! If she REALLY cared about ANYONE including Scorpia she would not give this half-assed attempt. Even if a good portion of people wants Catra to zip her lip or kick some rocks she was *INTERNAL CRINGE* ... RIGHT. Scratch up the chip, Dent it, Stab at it SOMETHING. NONE of those options say HURT SCORPIA! It is literally a contain and disable mission! So she has NO excuse. Again if she wants to be a human lighting rode let her. As long as SHE doesn't get HER hands dirty she is a okay to keep her pasifistic mindset!
Overall, this made no sense tactically. But this DOES prove a point this FRIEND GROUP IS FAKE! They are NOT friends! They are fake friends who PRETEND TO CARE but once they don't get what they want from one another they dip! This series shows no good or even healthy relationships. And this REALLY shows why!

I can answer all of this tell the show actually gives it an answer that isn't from Twitter(because fuck it).
1. Anyone who owns space can legally call themselves a Royal state, Princess is no different than a land lord.
2. Their kingdoms are a dance studio and a pro-hunting shop, attach by the same strip mall with a Bar and Grill between them. People mostly go to the Bar and Grill
3. They spend an hour of actually working, half hour doing alliance stuff, and three hours at the bar and grill.
4. Netossa is actually Bow's clone sister, but she was powered by a missing runestone that let her toss nets. She just walked out the door and the dads never notice. Spinnerella is actually Glimmer's cousin from her mom's side, Angella is a rare case of being the daughter to an immortal race of celestial winged creatures and a runestone princess. Spinnerella's father was born with only enough runestone magic to create cyclones with his wings, this was passed down to his daughter.

So maybe there’s some ultra secret magic that allows same sex couples to have natural kids (as in kid(s) is product of parents’ genetic help) or something. I mean, Bow has a dozen brothers and there’s reference of a female so maybe it’s the same thing? Or there’s some weird frog (In the Jurassic Park movie, they used DNA from a frog that ‘changes’ their gender in dire circumstances) or clownfish genetics going on.
Honestly, it’s why I stopped watching Dragon Prince after season 2 with the child queen from the lesbian couple. It was such a big deal about Ezra being Prince/King cause of his bloodline, but that didn’t extend to the other kingdom? Was something I didn’t think they establish or touch on so I didn’t bother afterwards.
So Grayskull, nexus of power and a kick-ass castle, gets reduced to a rebel group that doesn't matter at all in the plot. Can't say I'm surprised by this.

Grayskull is where my disappointment in the series became complete. With that, it had divorced itself completely from any Masters of the Universe lore. It is for this reason this version will be forgotten.

I don't know if fire is really a weakness for Frosta. Wouldn't melting ice just create water to put the fire out? I also don't think saying that having great power but showing restraint is a weakness is a great message. I mean there's an argument to be made that the best war is a swift war and thus a brutally efficient war, but this is more like saying Superman should laser off the arm of every bank robber that even points a gun at him. I mean it would be one thing if there were an actual debate with conflicting viewpoints, but really Perfuma is just an incompetent Strawman set up to prove Netossa right.
Also, if Netossa spends so much time coming up with plans to defeat their enemies why wasn't she made temporary Rebellion leader when Adora goes into space instead of Mermista? She even has seniority over her.
It's really obvious that Prefuma is just holding the Idiot Ball because her powers would trivialize the situation. Frosta and Entrapta too. Do they ever explain why they weren't brought on the mission? Frosta freezing all the water so Mermista has nothing to fight with would be an actual weakness of her's. And then there's the option of Glimmer Nightcrawlering behind everyone and glitter blasting the backs of their necks.
In regards to Bow's dads, wasn't one of them a former soldier? Wouldn't he have some combat skills from that?

Oh yeah I remember this episode from crimsonsins review, wasn't he concerned about netossa giggling about the different ways she came up with for defeating the princesses, like that's just something she does in her spare time, and how she was like "I always win" I mean it plays into the competitive side we've seen of her but it sounded like she's just kinda psychotically obsessed with winning.
Also, why would fire beat ice? Melted ice is just water, and ice itself rapidly drains heat which fire kind of needs to exist.
Well considering no one is normal in this show and the writing is really messy netossa still seems one of the best characters she thinks and stuff and actually didn't have enough time screen to show being complex so we have to give her credit for it
From how I always understood that weakness (in everything from pokemon to some card games) is that Ice abilities/powers/techniques/etc only work when the ice is in its original form. The power derived from ice requires it to be in its solid form or it requires a new subset of powers to control its results (water control of some sorts). Because fires is usually hot enough to either melt ice or break/weaken its structural integrity, fire nullifies ice.
It doesn't actually do anything for what happens when the ice turns into water and literally drowns the fire but if the flame is hot enough its possible for the flames to survive (not likely though).
As for Netossa, I feel like it was more of a writer's device because they needed a way for the heroes to quickly find out about the other people's weaknesses and instead of using the Horde not affiliated with Horde Prime in some interesting way, they defaulted to Netossa being the Batman of the Princess Alliance.
This makes Tahu bitching with Kopaka from Bionicle look reasonable and less interesting than I remember.

This is off topic and a personal preference (also a rant, possibly), but from just watching stills and short clips, I hate this art style. It feels like it's trying to emulate Avatar but it just doesn't work. The designs for the costumes lack detail and there is little to no shading AT ALL, which makes everyone look flat and have no sense of depth. Which then makes the perspective annoying to keep up with! Another thing I hate is the "roundness" of the design. It feels like everybody in this world had their moms put safety cushions on anything potentially pointy so they wouldn't get hurt. We are supposed to be watching an action show, right?
Yeah I’ve also hated it and the best way I can describe it is those cheap “drawing anime” art books you’d find at art stores the ones were there “anime” style looks horrible, this show tries to look like anime but fails at the key points
I guess it matches the characters who are equally flat with no depth and are soft and have no edge to them.

Electricity should have been Mermista's or use ice her to restrict her water control or through sand on her dry her up. I think Netossa just secretly wants to end Prime because she wants to kill everyone.

In Season 4 Entrapta said the First Ones “created the sword to control She-Ra,” but now its activation phase is a call to rebellion AGAINST those forces? Doesn’t add up.

I do have a theory that the rebels did in fact create the sword, therefore She-Ra as well, but the First Ones found out about it and stole it. Hence why she fights for people she doesn’t call out for power. But that’s just a theory

I sat and watched this sparkly turd with two friends. You had Glimmer who was a bumbling clown that wasn't fit to be a general, you had a dense protagonist with a brain made of microwaved butter too oblivious to realize that the catty brat Catra was an abusive entitled crybaby... and Bow was just alright, typical pushover, but alright. Sure, the protagonists were frustrating, but there were just THREE of them. Now there's five seasons with more clowns then I can care to count, and they're still so idiotic, so useless, and so dumb that the 5th season is almost done and they don't have the common sense to realize that pleading with their enemies isn't gonna do shit. This is the last third of the friggin' season. And there's no improvement. None. Aaaaand the designs of the characters are still an assault to my eyeballs.
This... is madness. Noelle, you suck at your job. The whole point of a remake is to improve the source material from the ground up. Like, shit, I hear the OG She-Ra isn't that good, but it cannot possibly be as dumb as this abortion of animation.

It's not really 5 seasons, more like 2 1/2 seasons broken up into small chunks to make it stretch and seem longer than it really is. In total, this series had around 50 some eps, while the OG She-Ra series around 90 some episodes.
The inconsistency is infuriating. There’s potential if they put more effort into the story but their focus is shipping, bad jokes, and teen drama.
For really though like why focus on all that when you can make plot holes, amazing moments, drama,( not teen drama) you can leave the bad jokes for some other show And the shipping....Ughhhhh why is catra in a relationship with adora (catra should *never* be in a relationship)and there made the show sound a little bebetter
Yes “teen drama” that has been my issue with so many recent big cartoon shows instead of real drama or stakes they focus on some 91210 melodrama bull, Steven universe, Star vs, voltron, etc. and that’s the point when they go downhill for many. I think they had the original Grayskull call to try and make it more recognizable. There’s also the fact that Noelle went on record early on that they were hoping to include the He-Man mythos in some sort of way; but it seems the rights being as bizarrely placed as they are was a hinderance to that. Which explains the weak background for Grayskull in this continuity
I have to agree😕, I though this series finale of "She Ra and the Princesses of Power" is finally go to explain about Grayskull is a castle from Eternia and reveal to be Adora's home. Unfortunely none of them never really happen which is a major dissappointed as Adora will never learn where her home planet is or her birth parents either.
All I'm remembering is how Fresh Precure did this sorta plotline better. Lord Moebius conditioned the people of his world to do his bidding, it took the people seeing the Precure fight for their freedom to get them off the beat and rooting for them. Hits even more since Setsuna, their mid-season addition, is essentially fighting to free her home from the rouge AI and make sure no other planet suffers the same fate.

I feel like it would've been better if grayskull was the name of the first ones' homeplanet (maybe HP destroyed it years ago). That would've made the whole explanation better and why Lighthope would say 'would you fight for the honor of Grayskull?' And I agree that the grayskull (the rebellion) was really dumb and I feel like Mara should've been alone so it may be more powerful since it's her against her people. It may be stupid but that's what I think.
Where did this pacifism from Perfuma come from? I remember her throwing around vines and giant flowers in season 1 against Hoard grunts, but now she's not willing to throw a single punch when her friends are in danger of death? Also, the Glimmer/Bow stuff sucks. They haven't learned a single thing after five seasons of development, and they reduced Greyskull to a retcon. The latter point I find especially egregious, because it proves that these writers had no idea what they were doing with these characters and the world they were adapting.
Because they knew that Perfuma using her powers could potentially fix the problem too easy and they need to drag out that plot (and lay the groundwork for more shipping because of course this show would)
And of course Glimmer and Bow suck, they suck in general. Glimmer is still a spoiled brat who doesn’t think things through. Bow is a wishywashy comic relief who is there to be non threatening.
Apparently it only counts as violence when you know the persons name, anyone else is fair game.

It's crazy how much that show sticks in my mind even though I never really watched it; Steven Universe. What I saw of it was a lot of lesbianism, feelings and a hell of a lot of unearned forgiveness. I know that show has some fans while the best thing I can say about it is that at least it was original.
Reviewers don't usually talk about it but, the animation is BAD. The watered down style of the series makes the designs look amateur and all over the place. (If they werent already)

Also Greyskull being just a rebel group name? That hurts.

Given how many brothers Bow has, why haven’t they shown up more? It would have been an interesting running gag about Bow having a brother everywhere and they all look similar. Sort of like in Pokemon where some Nurse Joys and Officer Jennys are related, but not everyone despite them looking like clones.
Could have been a cool way to lay down an areas history and give more context about what civilians do. It can even be fun to have some brothers keep Bow’s secret cause they respect his wishes, are “bribed” by Bow, and maybe have 1 who legit hates Bow for being in line for historian over him.

They are mentioned only in Season 2, and when we go back to the Library Bow only cares about his Parents, he doesn't even mention his supposed 15 Brothers.
They are never seen, aren't in the Ruin with Lance and George.....so what happened to them?!

Were they just a Figment of his Parents Imagination because they can't have Kids the biological way?

Is it just me that finds it weird that their computers, Horde Prime and everyone else that's had primary contact with them ALSO calls them "The First Ones?" For Etherians, I get it. They're a mysterious group of people that inhabited the planet long ago and had technology that no one could figure out and they were all dead before modern society came to be. So they don't know what else to call them. But wouldn't they have called themselves something else?
Mara also called them that, so it's not just some nickname....that's what their race called. It's alot dummer when you think about it, atleast the fire people were the actual creators of the world.
I guess legal told them they couldn't call them Eternians. (Seriously disappointed they turned the literal gods of Etheria into invaders.)

Yea adding in Greyskull really doesn’t fit and serve no purpose other then be a Easter egg for old fans which is funny because it seems to me they don’t like the old fans. But what do you expect from these people who can only take and not create.

This version of Grayskull always felt like a slap in the face to me. I'm positive Noelle didn't MEAN to offend any He Man fans and I won't hold it against her but it still fells like it was.
And while we're hear, I'm really getting tired of this 'Literal Power of Friendship' trope, I feel it works if there's a deeper explanation or as a metaphor but as just literal power or magic is just poorly written and getting predictable.
I still like this show anyway.

When was the last time Bows parents played a big role? Season 2 maybe? Jesus Christ, can this show make up its mind which characters are important and which ones are not? like Kyle and his friends get more screen time than characters like Madame Razz, who knows She Ra and has important knowledge that characters need to know, same goes for Bows Parents

As soon as Sheras writers turned its back on Greyskull, I quit. I lost interest as it was treated as a throwaway plot. Now, if the show runners were forced to avoid Greyskull topucs leading into Heman...sure. I can understand. But the fact is was tacked on was a shame.
You know whenever I hear Horde Prime's name, part of me recalls the Amazon Prime jingle "There's more to Prime" and that jingle will never apply to Horde Prime for there is nothing more to him or even the showrunners. Enough said for this episode.
Greyskull in this show still confuses me, The sword was made by Adora's people to be the key to their superweapon but they made the passcode to activate the key a phrase that shows support to a rebel faction working against them? or the rebel faction took their name from the passphrase in which case where did Greyskull come from and why are we honoring it?
Apparently "The Honor of Greyskull" isn't needed to transform and was just something Mara said to honor her Group.
But....that still leaves the Question why Light Hope would ask Adora to fight for the Power of Greyskull.
You can tell that the showrunners don't know the price of a mile.
My problem with this series is how boring and dull are the fights, i mean...is a WAR! Some of combat drama would had been welcome, and avatar was perfect in that regard, but here i don't feel any character in true danger, face them against raoh, madara, blackbeard, all for one, any shonen anime villain, and she-ra and cia. Would had been truly wrecked...
The creator of this series (Noelle Stevenson) did say that she doesn't know how to write a fight scene and that she only know how to write lesbian stuff

hey speaking of blackbeard/one piece I feel the paramount war arc is probably one of the best examples of trying to write war/"all sides loose" in all of fiction because the whole battle is complete chaos with multiple factions fighting all in the attempt to get one man and the only person who really one is blackbeard a.k.a the guy who caused it in the first place and managed to screw over everyone
then compare it to this where its half a dozen teens on each side having hissifits or shipping bait and us being told we have to view this as war
