I'm sure you looked it up but the gatherer notes and rules for CS-S (27:10) say that the spell half resolves without dealing damage if the creature is an illegal target (including dying) when it resolves. That's cause it has one legal target remaining and it does as much work as possible which is "goes to exile on adventure"
19:38 i think you just have lethal if you burn together precombat, because the slickshot gets +2+0 off it. If they counter, just cast the other one. If they counter that as well, attack.
I'm sure you looked it up, but the Burn Together side of Callous Sell-Sword has two targets. As long as one of them remains legal, the spell will not fizzle.
41:58 i think in this spot you attack with all, if they block the kumano with atraxa you can kill your own creature with the reckless rage. Negating the lifelink or they make the block on one of the 2 drops as the did and you can still make the trade
26:54 there's a sneaky line you can do here where you pop a map on your hero, if they march in response you win because you fling challenger, if they don't then you have to hit a non-land to win the game on the spot because it will become 3 power so you can push it to deal them lethal in response to their march.
yeah, burn together is formatted differently than other flings so you can do stuff like that, don't blame someone new to the deck for missing it though
At 27:00, if you burn together the Emberheart instead of the hero, you had a second line to lethal same turn once they tapped out to deal with the first kill attempt, by mapping onto your hero and then pushing it. It was not deterministic, but above 50% to kill without giving them another turn.
2 forges in the main is really good with the current meta it’s a must deal with card and game 1 a lot of decks can’t deal with it I’ve played this deck an version of it a lot in standard, pioneer and been playing it on modern I built a jund version in modern that can steam roll decks that aren’t ready for it with leyline, you play green for the green pump/hexproof spells, black for same stuff. You can play a few like 2-3 mutagentic growths as well so extra combo potential turn 2s happen enough to be worth it and turn 3s are common if they have a slow hand. Forge goes hard and this deck runs out of gas often and main deck forge can really save you and get you hand filled back up at least or just win the game. I waiting for the day they make a utility lane that’s a lavamamcer like 2R exile 4 red cards deals 2 to your opponent maybe
1:03:20. Playing Fatal Push here was incorrect. If you Reckless Rage, you Valiant the Hero, making them take an extra damage when they kill it later. That then opens up the play to Fatal Push your own Kumano in response to their Fatal Push later, giving Swiftspear enough power to be flung and kill your opponent in the critical turn.
I know people are spamming those “you had the win” comments, so sorry to add to it. But, match 5 round 1, you chose to fatal push a stitchers supplier instead of using a reckless rage, which would’ve put a counter on your mouse. You would’ve gotten an extra damage in next turn, and another damage in when they killed the mouse, which would have made them dead exactly.
I try to engage in social media as little as possible and I'm not cognizant enough of the competitive scene to be able to look up the regional results, but I am curious as to how you did. Planning to do a tournament report to wrap up the testing series?
He usually does tournament report videos a few days after the tournament. Also he lists his twitter tiemline and you can just scroll back to his last tournament announcement.
@@BoshNRollfair enough. I would say though that since pioneer is less popular it could be cool to get a report just to hear your thoughts on the format.
With the videos having the "upcoming serious tournament" context it did/does make me curious about what happened. Glad he answered here cause I am also not a Twitter user.
Anyone who thinks aggro is easy to play needs to try this deck out. So many difficult sequencing decisions to make, and you often just lose on the spot if you make the wrong one

Yeah the player being a legal target is the part I missed at the time.
"im stressed as hell but this is so much fun"
im glad you are starting to understand us red mages better
Missed lethal at 44:10 (heartfire hero, titan's strength up to 5 power, fling for 5+5)

Yup.
He could have also played Reckless Rage and Burn Together both on Atraxa to kill it pre-combat for lethal.
at 52:15 , doesnt the slickshot trigger off of burn together as well, making it 7 power to kill Atraxa?
Glad I wasn’t the only one that thought that concession was weird, because he uses that line the next game. I was sure I was missing something.
it does

He's a Flingdog Dawg Gazillionaire alright.
At 19:35 couldn’t you have used the fling to force out a counter spell and then attack for lethal anyways?
yeah, burn together is formatted differently than other flings so you can do stuff like that, don't blame someone new to the deck for missing it though
@@Moonmerism It was a legitimate question asked in a respectful manner. If we can't do that here, what is the point of UA-cam?
Is the actual best deck, Tree of Perdition combo, in the future?
tears in my eyes as Claim // Fame is finally good, years after the initial death's shadow based hyped

43:03 you can reckless rage plus burn together to kill atraxa and then attack for lethal.
Yay, pioneer again :)

27:12 it doesn't fizzle because it has two targets and only one target was removed.
Poor Brian never gets to go to the smash palace. 😎
I'm surprised you went for Phoenix in the RCQ even after beating an Atraxa with this deck

Something something gazillion bosh packs sling em if you got em? Is that anything?
Does anyone have the list for the last deck? That looked wildly fun.
no consideration for firing up den of the bugbear at 12:11?
Let’s go for a quick league!
Mouse pack, fling em if you've pumped em
You are missing the layline of resonance for the consistent turn 2 wins
Heartfire pack, fling it if u got it

This deck is fucking scary...
Maybe I should make this my new commander deck 🤔.
26:00 forgor the jegantha 😅
Literally beaten atraxa with a rakdos rat 🐀 😂❤
This league being longer than 30 minutes is not a good sign.
This deck looks so hard 😅
13 seconds?? Am i the one whos early
kumano goes to kazakhstan
