And the fact that he’s way more intimidating in the Wii version. Being huge, makes everything shake with big foot steps, destroys a building in anger, literally beaten all other boxers and nasty temper. His 2nd fight literally resembles the dream bout with Mike Tyson/Mr. Dream from the NES version.
I think it's better than that because of all the sprite scaling and large sprites it has. Now why did Nintendo quit making arcade machines like these? They could've been with SEGA and Namco's levels of arcade goodness.
@@andersonfernandes7982 the game was developed and completed in 1983 (as seen in the copyright date), but it's release date was held back until April of 1984.

Nintendo innovates in some ways and brings us fantastic games. However, their hardware has been about a generation behind since the wii. The wii's graphics were almost the same as the gamecube, with some advances. Though, not enough for a next generation console at the time. Graphics aren't everything, but there's reasons why Nintendo is not often considered when it comes to getting a new console. Their hardware and graphics are often as advanced as the past generation. So why spend sooo much money on a new console with hardware and graphics that have been surpassed by the competition? (I don't necessarily think that way. I love Nintendo, but I see their faults.) Also, lack of mature games and lack of third party support doesn't help. Luckily, the switch has been turning things around for Nintendo. Someday, I hope they realize that advanced hardware actually does matter. Their many popular series are great, but it's not enough to get the interest of past Nintendo fans that have moved on, or people that are curious about owning a Nintendo console, but aren't convinced as to why they should.
This game was really from the future back in the 80's, I can't even remember any arcade game using voice samplers, very impressive. The vertical screen was also out of this world.
I'm 42 as well, and I remember watching others play this game. Most of them lost to Bald Bull, but I would see the occasional player get to Pizza Pasta before losing.
42, too! I loved this one. I used to always get past the first two boxers, then it started getting hard. I remember being so excited when I made it to Kid Quick! I beat him the very first time I faced him -- I guess I lucked out or was just well-practiced at the game at that point. I made it to Pizza Pasta, but I can't remember if I beat him or not. I definitely didn't beat Sandman if I did face him. I'd definitely remember that.
I remember having been so impressed seeing this in arcade as a kid. I could not play myself (it was for money, which I didn't have), but I watched older kids. Funny thing is that in my memory the characters were not cartoonish at all, it was like the best professional boxing simulator ever (no wonder, back then ZX Spectrum was my home computer).

I used to play this in college. Missed many a class when they installed this in the student union. Gets very repetitive after you’ve gone through the challengers several times. Sometimes they’d get tougher and faster, but eventually you could be patient and anticipate their punches and just sit back and counter punch. Got to the point where I could turn it over a million. Very upset that scores only went up to 6 digits, and then looped back to 0. Had to get it close to a million and then lose so that my score was as close to a million as possible without going over. Best tip I got that allowed me to beat the game, set the joystick up or down, and then leave it in a neutral position. Made it so that I could duck their punches quicker.
I can't begin to tell you how I dominated this game when I was a teenager in the mid to late 80's. I would get to 999,990 and get knocked out before "turning the game over". After awhile the worst fighter to fight prior to that time would be Bald Bull with the blue gloves. Very unpredictable after 45 minutes of dominated this video arcade game. Great memories. I was one of the best in the San Antonio, Texas area back in the day!
Wow when I was prolly 10 years old I spent every quarter on this and once got to like the 43rd guy or something like that and lost, it was glass Joe but in the process I hit that million points and it went back to zero lol. geddoe316 great story. First time I played it I was 6 and my dad took me to the arcade. I got to hitting buttons and was thinking I’m good at this game. My dad finally said, “you’re not Joe, you’re the green guy”. Haha. My dad and I still laugh about that 35 years later!!
Of all the "I did this as a little kid in the '80s" video game claims, this is the best one I've ever seen. A five year old beating Sandman and the second Piston Hurricane. Uh huh.
Well actually, Nintendo didn't really have that in mind with this. Honestly, every game they made like Donkey Kong had a repeat mode after you beat the game for the first time.

There was also a revamped port of the arcade version of Super Punch-Out, called Frank Bruno's Boxing for the Commodore 64, albeit never got a stateside release though.
@@freakyfornash That would have been interesting. C64 was a very an impressive system. I had a Texas Instruments Home Computer and my friends had a Atari 800, and a C64. @@AngryCalvin And the game looked pretty good to an extent. Just didn't play well though. I know many seemed kind of lukewarm about Super Punch-Out on the Super N.E.S. it seemed. That despite the good reviews it got, and followed the spirit of the original arcade games, which Mike Tyson's P.O. didn't exactly do though.
Yeah, on Nintendo DS, Mike Tyson's Punch-out sucks. I think that the DS is more powerful than the arcade machine. The problem is the most of the peoples that knows original Punch-out doesn't own or do not play portable video games consoles. So Nintendo probably lose money with it.
+john smith Nintendo never put up superior arcade games! They just give you the inferior version of the games via ports from their consoles! The green wire boxer in this game is not LIttle Mac. Little Mac is only in the MIke Tysons Punchout And Punchout for NIntendo and Punch OUt for WII. The arcade games are a different story than those.

Grew-up with NES Mike Tyson's Punch-out!!, and this is the first time ive seen the arcade version. I think the devs nailed the NES version, they got rid of the things that didn't work, and built on the game even more. NES version was /is superior.
This is the same speech synthesis Atari used in their System 1 and 2 and Konami used in their Bubble Machine games (most infamously, Double Dribble). Kinda mind blowing to hear it in an earlier game that's made by Nintendo.

That being even if Mike Tyson's Punch-Out for the original N.E.S. was by far the most well known, despite having a lot of differences from the original arcade game.
They all had really good arcade ports for the time. Too bad the game crash devastated what home computers could have been. Home computer consoles are one of my greatest memories in gaming.
@@AngryCalvin And the game looked pretty good to an extent. Just didn't play well though. I know many seemed kind of lukewarm about Super Punch-Out on the Super N.E.S. it seemed. That despite the good reviews it got, and followed the spirit of the original arcade games, which Mike Tyson's P.O. didn't exactly do though.
piston hurricane looks like Sammy Davis Jr
Makoto Muramasa Or Lionel Richie!
Or Apollo Creed, who he was obviously based off of as well too!
Wow, this game was released when? It looks gorgeous.
Dr. Corndog 1984
Amazing graphics and gameplay, especially for it's time.
December 1983 in japan
When I saw this in the Arcades as a kid, I used to think Kid Quick's name was Kid Duck! LOL
if they make a new punch 🥊 out game, they could name one ☝️ of the boxers kid 🧒 duck 🦆. You have a great 👍 point there.
Dude, this was a game ahead of it's time. I think this version is the GOAT, even above Tyson.
THEY NEED TO MAKE A NEW ARCADE PUNCH-OUT. I would totally play it and watch other people play it
Yeah, on Nintendo DS, Mike Tyson's Punch-out sucks.
Damn Shame knowing how technology advance and Nintendo can give us the arcade version with no problem but want to give us version of ports from consoles that we know is inferior.. not talking about the games that was consoles only! I can live with consoles only games in which I love some of them by the way!
I want a new arcade punch 🥊 out as well. What boxers do you think 💭 should be in it?
Mr. Sandman uppercuts still hurt in 2018!
WOW, one of the shortest longplays you've ever uploaded on UA-cam. Most of your longplays are actually long but this one I would consider a short complete playthrough.
This games was So Much Fun...I spent many many hours playing the game.
Mr Sandman was tough and after you became Champion he would hit you 2 or 3 times if you did not dodge😀. Great Fun

I used to lose to Glass Joe on purpose in my first title defense so I could see Glass Joe as champ.
Wow, I've never seen anyone after Bald Bull in the arcades before... kid quick et al? Dang! I've heard of Mr Sandman only from the NES version.
Great fighting! Was great to remember how bad I sucked at this game. Well done.
8:10 - Your character turns around and you're revealed to be..... MEL GIBSON!
Ever have one of those days where you wake up, look in the mirror and all you see is Kid Quick's in-game sprite?
XD
Damn, Piston whipped your ass in that rematch lol. Man, I Ioved this game. I used to struggle against Bald Bull for weeks until I finally picked up on his pattern and eventually beat him, but then there was Sandman who I kept losing too because that dude had no pattern. He was just tough!
I am forever in debt to my grandfather for all the quarters he gave me in the mall to play this game.
I can't tell what's more hilarious. That bell sound effect, the not so subtle racism, or Mac's face. Either way this looks pretty rad.
He's not Little Mac.
But that is
Not Mac but Challenger
That isn't Mac. He debuted in Mike Tyson's Punch Out!! and this character is someone else. This game was before Mike Tyson's Punch Out!!.
***** I think he is now.
Am I the only one who noticed Donkey Kong in the background?
Yosef the Swag Master nope
Don't forget Donkey Kong Jr. and the Mario Bros.
Yosef the Swag Master when
Bah, that's terrible. nope. remember when this was in arcades and we all saw him
Nope
Ese juego lo jugaba hace mucho tiempo en Leon Gto,,,, en un lugar llamado chispas, en la zona centro que recuerdos
I swear this will happen, if a real life boxer names himself Pizza Pasta, he'll go all the way to the top, Pacquiao, Canelo, Pasta, Tyson, Foreman, etc.
Yellow Frame Little Mac should be an alt for Little Mac in sm4sh too....
The green wire boxer in this game is not LIttle Mac. Little Mac is only in the MIke Tysons Punchout And Punchout for NIntendo and Punch OUt for WII. The arcade games are a different story than those.
Then who is that guy and what the hell is the story in the arcade games
I've watched this game for years and I've just now noticed Donkey Kong, Mario, DK Jr. and I'm guessing Luigi (or another Jumpman next to him) in the audience
Grew-up with NES Mike Tyson's Punch-out!!, and this is the first time ive seen the arcade version. I think the devs nailed the NES version, they got rid of the things that didn't work, and built on the game even more. NES version was /is superior.
Mr. Sandman's hardcore, even the first time around.
Thanks for this I absolutely loved this back in the day
Great vid. Brings back memories
Anybody knows if this game is in pandora s5 arcade machine. (1388 GAMES) I cant find a game list anywhere
This is the same speech synthesis Atari used in their System 1 and 2 and Konami used in their Bubble Machine games (most infamously, Double Dribble).
Kinda mind blowing to hear it in an earlier game that's made by Nintendo.
I went 272 straight fights in this game at the 10 plex movie theater arcade in Paramus NJ. 5+ straight hrs of playing
