- Incidents of homelessness, violence, suicide and general destitution among Kenyans in the US remain a cause for concern. But many won't discuss these issues openly for fear that they might expose the Kenyan community abroad to judgment and social ridicule. NTV's BMJ Muriithi reports from Atlanta
Kenyans in the USA still have evil feelings of tribalism, na ujinga ya Kenyan politics. These has caused a lot division is social groups , that every member has to be from a certain tribe.lts shame that is also seen in kenyan churches .
Egulu Adhiambo truth and nothing but the truth
Kikuyus have a channel here on UA-cam for Kikuyus in Diaspora. It doesn't get more tribalistic than that!
+dubol07 really?
America is a wonderful place as long as you have focus.
To succeed in life it's doesn't matter where you are what's matter is who you are
marian sure
Explain how a person can succeed in a country like Kenya where 60% of its citizens live in abject poverty??!

These people need to grow up. People die everyday around the world. There is alcoholism, drug problem, poverty and stress everywhere around the world. What makes you think Kenyans are not subjected to the same life struggles. You chose to focus on the negativity. There are so many success stories here in the US they just don’t get involved in these naysayers kind of talk.

Where can you find an eighth grader having a job(with parents consent), and a Kenyan American college student having a full time job, getting a full scholarship to study abroad program ( not based on how rich the parents are), and many opportunities to excel in the field of their choosing if they are willing to work hard??? Tell me ma friends, where? Maisha ni magumu everywhere, and I feel for the family of this young man. May his soul RIP. But, with that said, hardwork and determination is key. And being mature enough to know that coming to America doesn’t necessarily mean it’s a show off competition with others, then you’ll be fine, and not a ticket to flowing cash, or instant riches. I think some people set the bar too high when they leave Kenya, and expectations from people back home is usually too high depending on the picture you paint. Also remember, not having the right paperwork, especially for those who come on student visas, it’s tough. F1 Visa only allows students to work 20hrs a week. That means that, depending on the city you live in and the needs of ones/the student family back home, shida tupu, stress mingi!
Otherwise maisha can be hard anywhere, but for me and my experience in life, yes, East or West, home is best, but for now, I choose the US of A.
Study abroad na you’re abroad😊. Yup, if one is a student with the right paperwork/documents, or an American citizen from whichever country in the world, some colleges in the US have a Study Abroad program in partnership with some colleges in some/many countries around the world, including Europe, Asia, and Africa. This is a privilege in many ways, and I wouldn’t trade it for anything for my children! I love ma Mama land Kenya, but America is my home for now, and it’s blessed me in many ways. I’m grateful!
I hope each and every Kenyan abroad find the peace and satisfaction within, and get the wisdom, humility, strength, and determination, and love that’s needed/necessary to accomplish their goals in life, whatever their goals are!
I will never return to Kenya period I'm extremely sorry 😐😔😔😔😔😔😔😔😔😔😔😔 that's the bitter truth by Steve Irungu Jermaine
Makes me love my country even more. Kenya😍
kitir jaba I’m telling You! The grass is not always greener on the other side 🇰🇪🙏🏾
With all the problems we have here I'd be reluctant to move
I have only been to US once for just 2 weeks, but I think living abroad is tough you just have to be tougher ......I live comfortably in UK tho. It wasn't always easy, but with education and right attitude u get ahead . My only thing is, I notice Kenyans stick to their mentalities mostly but u have toemulate your host to fit in their picture!
Kenyan Enterpreneur are you still in UK?
Kenya to me it's a hell NO I'm extremely sorry 😐😔😔😔😔😔😔😔😔😔😔😔😔😔 that's the bitter truth by Steve Irungu Jermaine
Wewe una wazimu bladifwakni
Any country is good when eac individual has focus, determination, adoptability to fit in plan to work hard
WE USED TO SAY "TIME I S MONEY" just a joke in Kenya its the reality in US. every minute counts to $.bora kujipanga nini,lini,wapi,nani....poleni jameni.
Coming to America is no ticket to heaven. Failure ni lazima for many of us before we finally succeed. It’s the determination and hardwork just like everywhere else in the world. Except in America, you get more opportunities/chances to make it as you wish/ as fits you!
So you're saying he did not work hard and was not determined?
kengan if you get homeless it best this best to stay around your people
How sad this man felt alone when he ran into the law. I cant imagine how he felt to lose a job at Apple and live on the streets Kenyans need to be more empathetic less judgemental and more helpful. I feel for his family back home he was a bright star that lost an opportunity to shine because of lack of support. Depression is an illness if he received treatment he may be here today. Noone should blame him.

Kenyans hatupendani period!!
Shauri yenu Kenyans.Sasa kama kwa nchi yenu nyinyi wenyewe hampendani, mkienda nchi zingine mtapendanaje? nani atawapenda? Nani atajali na nyinyi? Charity begins at home
That’s just a few cases , how many people have died in Kenya 🇰🇪 our country for lack of food , shelter and jobless How many people are in streets of Nairobi who are educated! I strongly believe in any society there is always the good side of the story and the bad side therefore one example has not justified your thoughts 💭! Gerrarahere

The United States has a lot of homeless people regardless. You'll find them in all backgrounds.
It's becoming unaffordable for the average person. That includes immigrants that come here.
Sure you can find a job but most of the jobs don't pay the cost of living, even in positions that require more education.
The United States can be stressful too. You can easily become a slave, and you're just working to maintain a superficial life.
2:37 Jomo Kenyatta is that you?
Why isn't obama helping his people? He was born there, his granny and brother Robert said so and so I believe them. BLM,,,,,,,,,yeah.right.
Cajunman Dick
Why should Obama be responsible for them? He achieved success through hardworking and determination, if you are sitting around waiting to be spoon fed too bad for you.
Youre insane
