If you love Texas you grew up with The Von Erichs. Even if you identified with the heels and the villains you always had a soft spot for Kerry, Kevin and David. No matter where they wrestled they never hid the fact that they were Texas Boys. Long live Texas Long Live the Von Erichs! Plus who doesn't love Ric Flair!!!
I heard so many great comments about David being world championship material, it says a lot coming from Flair; it sounds like David outlived his dad's shadow.
All extenuating circumstances aside, the 3 Von Erich boys had the rotten luck to all came along at seemingly the worst possible times for each of them in wrestling and still managed to be something really special for a short time. David could have been one of the best old-school NWA world champions in history. Great heel, great babyface, had the psychology and by far the best promo of the boys. Kerry could have been a "rock n wrestling" super hero MEGA STAR with his look and persona, if he would have been at his peak in the mid to late 80's in WWF. Kevin could have been a pretty big star in his own right in the transitioning period of the early to mid 90's, with his athleticism. Plus he was just cool as hell. I don't care what anyone says about the Von Erich's, Kevin may be considered the third wheel by a lot of people (and they are right to a lot of extent), but Kevin had something about him that always made him my favorite. If I am being honest, I liked them all, but if David was the man's wrestler, and Kerry was for the ladies and little kids, Kevin bridged those gaps.
@@42lookc He reminded me a lot of Sting, which is probably why I became such a big Sting fan in the 90's. Personality and persona wise, they couldn't have been any more different than if they were night and day, but they were both just explosive...that's probably the best way I know how to describe them. Sting was just electric in the late 80's, early 90's, and Kevin just tore into people with an unrelenting viciousness that didn't seem like there was any end to it. I'm sure that wasn't very fun to work with, but it sure was fun to watch, particularly when he had David to carry much of the leg work. Kevin exploding into the ring on a hot tag, is probably better than anyone I've ever seen.
The way I understand it. The NWA was ready to give David a run with the title. He would have been one Hell of a world's champion. Even though he didn't get the belt, he was and always will be a world champion in our eyes.
The truly great ones like Flair and Harley Race was that they could work effectively as good and bad guys. David had that quality, while Kevin and Kerry really didn't.
David was one of the best out of the von eriches. If he didn't die, he would of been nwa world champ and multiple time wccw world champ. Having feuds in WCW if he chose to go there. I can see him having matches with luger, flair of course, rude, Vader, arn, barry windham, muta, possible sting if david went heel. He might of stayed with the wcw/nwo era. Idk. Hard to say if he was alive then.
With the right company giving them a push, they could both be upper-mid to main event card talent. They are naturals in the ring because of genetics and their Dad training them. With a bit more seasoning on their interview skills the sky would be the limit for both.
@@edkinsel2795No, they left about a year ago. But they were the top Tag Team there for a long time. Longest reigning Tag Team champions in that company.
I think David would have had the long career if he hadn’t died, Kerry had the look but also a 5 cent head and is one who should have just said no and he was a ticking time bomb
But he was very big, not muscular like Kerry, but big and agile. David had the physique and wrestling know how where he would have been able to do 1 hour matches with Ric Flair. Kerry would not have been able to do that from a stamina and knowledge standpoint.
@@christofl6523 People forget how good Kerry was before he had his bike accident. A tale of two totally different wrestlers before and after. In his prime, he was in a lot of ways a hybrid between David and Kevin. He wasn't quite the worker that David was, and not quite the pure athlete Kevin was, but he did have some of both and had the added persona and look that neither of his brothers could match. David was in his element in the main event, Kevin was out of his element and Kerry could be carried by a good heel to good main event.
It sounds like it's the same thing that caused Crash Holly's death. But yeah, it seems 90 percent of World Class and NWA sees that David was the best performer of the Von Erich family (some say even better than Fritz).
From what I have seen David was the most talented pro wrestler and he could be heel Or face and despite not being ripped like Kerry, he was still a very big man and had a certain charisma that Kerry didn’t
Sleeping Pills huh . The way People made it sound they made it seem like he was taking illegal narcotic drugs. I mean sleeping pills are legal unless he got some illegally. I mean you can Buy them Walmart
Black Bart said in a shoot interview that David took quaaludes every night so that plus drinking will definitely catch up with you. I loved watching the Von Erich’s growing up it’s sad what happened to them. Many factors played a part in it but still to see anyone go through that is terrible.
David Von Erich was drinking with Ric every night...no signs of addictive behavior or substance abuse there. Sometimes there's just too much steak on the plate, I guess.
I used to cut David's hair back in the day. I I just had to put a Cobra Commander mask around his face and cut around it. Easiest 5 bucks I ever made.
Underrated Comment

David was the best Wrestler. Kevin was the best Athlete. Kerry had the best body and Rock Star Popularity.
David gave the best promos also of the three.
Kerry had so much charisma.
I heard so many great comments about David being world championship material, it says a lot coming from Flair; it sounds like David outlived his dad's shadow.
I can't stop thinking now that Fritz thought Undertaker looked like David lol 🤣
He did when he was younger for sure
Tall with red hair is it
Michael Hayes said David got it better than the other boys.
Thank you Ric David would have been a game changer wrestling would have been different today

Yep. He was like rocket-powered plasticine in the ring. Unbelievable how a dude 6 foot 3 could move like that.

I hope my mother in 10 years is as alive as Ric is. It’s sad seeing parents and tv legends getting older. Ric and Vince break my heart
