All these collabs, don't know how you manage to still prep for comps!
massive respect toward justin being able to do a log press at 230lb's... was wondering if training with all these cross-fit athletes is reminding you of your marathon days Mr. Hooper, though obviously you have a new set of goals ahead of you (shaw classic, other strong man comp's, and WSM2024)
love the content! :) i wish there was a couple shots from the medley ;)
Loving these videos 💪
Super pumped to see the strongest man in the world and the fittest man in the world working out together. Inspired.
What a fantastic series Mr Hooper💪
Interesting to see them on the log treating it more like an Olympic lift compared to the strongman style which requires more raw shoulder power
I think it’s more their familiarity with split jerks, strongmen generally aren’t very good at split jerks, despite it being superior biomechanically
Kearney is a good example of it as well, as are a lot of U105 guys. It's more of a coordination movement than a strength one though.
Horsepower versus torque come to mind. Horsepower is how fast you can do work (fitness), torque is the ability to do work (strength). Love your stuff Mitch, keep it coming!
Idk what Stregnth is but Mitch got it!
Not only is Mitch super knowledgable I also suspect him of low key pushing is V02 max higher for his strongmen events. This man is redefining strongmen and I'm all up for it. Go Moose go!
Real good job of all of you😊
wow, Trista smith is a stunner.
Too bad she's 17
Give it a couple of years and some roids and she'll have a jaw like an anvil
@@GreatNeal85a little child
@@GreatNeal85how do you know he's not 17?
Just 12 months separate her from illegal taboo sick bad to fair play lol what a world we live in.
Wild watching the coaching and improvements! Tons of strength and good form, which is, sorry to say, extremely rare to see in crossfire.
nothing more humbling than seeing someone toss around 230 that you're struggling with
Strength is spelled wrong on your video face, Mitch.
Great title
Assault bike + mullet = Joy.
The lady was strong and very impressive looking as well. They can be both i see. The dude came a long way fast on the log. Good on coach Mitchell.
2 champs champing out
ngl, I want to see Mitchell try to compete in Crossfit, just to see how his body is able to adapt. The strength is already there.
That's not how that works, strength and endurance are always a trade-off. He would have to lose a lot of top end strength to become competitive (which he can of course afford). But he can't just "add" aerobic capacity and stay as strong as he is.
@@Pletzmutz Well, I thought that was obvious, but fair to bring it up. Generally, strength is by far the toughest element to acquire, thus giving him an advantage for finding his perfect composition when slimming down.
I think his issue would arise in the Olympic lifts too. Those take a long time to learn properly so I could see him flunking out of those events.
@@PletzmutzI’m not sure how familiar you are with Mitch, but he was a marathon runner before he started training for strongman, and his ability to move quickly in certain events is a big part of what helped him edge out the other WSM competitors to become the champ. So sure, he would lose some top end strength if he was in the kind of shape he’d need to be in to compete in CrossFit, but it’s not like he’d be starting from scratch with his cardio. He’s already VERY fast for someone his size and with his strength level
The entire CrossFit community needs lesson in the log. Humiliated themselves before

Stregnth
The content is so good, but at points the camera rocking will make you sick. It's unfortunate really how bad some parts are.
❤
he looks the same age as his daughter?????
It was a joke she’s not his daughter
yeah, I was like wtf the guy is 24, how the hell...
So you were the real reason why they both crashed in the CrossFit games.
So, if Olympic lifters do the split stance, why don't strongmen/women?
some do. in theory it is the most efficient movement, but hard to perform to it's full potential on a log, so it's generally only people who come over from oly lifting who do it. it also seems more common in the lower weight classes, but in the opens it seems like most prefer to just build strength and push press rather than invest probably years of training into a split jerk technique until that finally becomes better for you than the push press. especially because strong shoulders have more carryover to other events than the ability to split jerk. lower weight classes and crossfit people are more limited on the amount of strength they can build, so that in return makes it more useful to invest a lot of time into learning a slightly more efficient technique rather than compensating with extra brute force
edit : look up koklyaev vs big Z log pressing, that visualizes the difference quite nicely
Because it's difficult with a log and requires much more mobility and stability. Koklyaev and Kearney are the two guys who were quite successful with it, but it's not a secret trick you can unlock to make your log stronger.
I don't have an answer, but you should look up 2022 world strongest man log lift group 2 (which also happens to have Mitch in it (he was 1st overall in the group, forcing Shaw to his first stone off))
Bobby Thompson is kind of the opposite of doing the split stance, and he came first in the log lift. I think everyone else uses their legs at least somewhat, but he didn't even use his legs, and he won the event with 8 reps.
Mitchell came 2nd with 7 reps.
Now I have watched the video, I have never noticed anyone do the log as a snatch. I just thought that on her 135 but mullet did it right after. Is that legal in comp? I had some really dirty jokes but I guess I will keep it clean, and not be a jerk, only have one for snatch so 2 of 3 ain’t bad? That much muscle is super hot.. and nice booty too, Mitch! But really that’s no white man booty!
Why don't strongmen do a jerk when doing the log lift instead of push pressing?
Some do.
...😀
…
🦌. . .
first :o
I just don't find these crossfit people very interesting.
They all kinda blend together, don’t they? It’s like “wow that guy is in really good shape, but not the best at anything in particular. Cool”
enjoy the strongman content, but I had to unsubscribe because I have no interest in crossfit whatsoever. I will look back in a few months.
Tough, CrossFit games are over and we’re right back into strongman content.
Obviously! Female mmmm! She looks good the entire video and doesn’t have to do anything but look good!! Thank god for women! And Mitchell I guess..
Mate, ditch the mullet. It's doing nothing for ya
Maybe he likes it? Do you alter your appearance just to please other people?
why did you not make them do a proper rep? they were just doing a clean and jerk. 0 log press
Thats legal log press form
