He has talked about his dad being a competitive oly lifter before and he always seemed to admire it. Very cool that hes learning it and super cool that you two found each other to do it.
I'm 47, I don't do Olympic lifts and only Power Clean about once a month. I watched this video and did the drills as I warmed up today. I wasn't planning on doing anything to extreme. Everything felt so light I ended up hitting a PR. THANK YOU

Cool video. I think Tom may suffer from the same thing I did. Doing lots of hang cleans first and not understanding the difference between these and a power or full clean leads to bad habits. The best pull at the end happened when he was dialed into the pull and then just let the bar go. Not having to anticipate catching the bar as it is falling to the floor allows for full focus on the actual lift. It made an immediate difference for me when I figured that out.
have you ever considered arm wrestling? The way you described some of the motions here reminded me of how we talk about certain motions in arm wrestling.

I tried to power clean for the first time yesterday, watching the video it looked great, i was actually proud tbh, but then i realized that i wasn't extending completly my joints, i assume watching this video that isn't that big of a deal, right?
Ignore minor things until it feels natural to clean but keep recording youself and watching your form. You have to do it very very often to get good. Also I wouldn't worry about perfect technique unless my goal was to compete.
