Did we do OK? I really do hope you like it, because it was a privilege to read it for you. Please excuse the little bit of dust that I seem to have in my eye.
I think you are quickly building fan support as a new narrator for the RWS :D
Better than OK. This is perfect
Great lecture n love your diction n charactization in the story narration. Funny in places too.
I think as others have said narrating them all would be brilliant with your flair. Could function as a potential money spinner for the Tallylln too if considered.
Y' got a great nack for breathing life into them. 😉
Ye did A, man
this is amazing! thanks!!
2:08-3:43: This is what introduced me to the Typewriter. I’m sure it was unintentional, but thank you either way, Tim.
Fascinating stuff. I always loved the narrow gauge stories when I was a kid, especially the ones about Duke. Now I'm an even bigger train geek, it's fun to see how much detail the good Reverend went into about those railways that we never saw.
even if the special effects are a little poor, that just made everything so much funnier.
Oh My, Oh My a real tribute to the unforgetable Rev Awdry. So important to remember the real history of the incredible railway stories. Brought back wonderful memories of Wilbert and his brother George attending model railway exhibitions and their wicked sense of humour. Thank you so much for this.
Not only did I watch the whole thing for the incredibly fascinating lore, but also because I find Dunn's voice very soothing
Big thank-you to everyone involved in putting this together! A wonderful Christmas treat made purely out of love for the RWS and its fans.
Here's to the next one!
Ferro-equinologist, iron horse specialist! That’s absolutely hilarious.
I'm definitely going to use that !
Thank you so much for this video! I lost my father just over 2 weeks ago after caring for him for a number of years and things have been bleak lately. Christmas Eve was feeling very empty but this video has lifted me up, bringing back so many happy memories of childhood and visits to the Talyllyn over the years. It also taught me so many new things about the world of those little books I loved so much when young, and indeed still love now. Thanks again, wishing you all the best this season.
GW; our thoughts are with you. That we have brought some light in the dark is the true reason that we do what we do. Keep looking forward, for one will always find brighter days ahead.
The parts about the S&M are interesting. It was written in both Wilbur and Christopher's books that the railroad was bad with record keeping and that the fate of their engines was unknown. But this tells of two of them and that the line was dual guage. Thank you for sharing this with all of us. I look forward to seeing the next lecture you bring to us.
This made me feel like sodor is in fact a real place
i absolutely adore this videos and the passion for them is crazy cool. I loved the little bit of Luke and Tim at the start, it was super charming. Awdry was so detailed in his work!
Massive props to the Talyllyn Railway, Tim Dunn and Luke Ryan. Tim's narration of Gallant Old Engine was magical
Very fascinating; please do more lectures!
17:10 - emphasis on "died".
Merry Christmas to you all at the Talyllyn Railway, hope all the staff and engines have a nice day and new year and for many more in the future :)
Enjoyed the video? Then our Awdry DVD is probably an essential purchase! bit.ly/AwdryDVD
Happy 110th birthday, Wilbert Vere Awdry!
This was a fantastic, in depth reading! It’s so awesome that all this information is being given to us now!
Is there any way to see the previous lecture in the Summer of this year, where they talked about Bloomer?
I'm pleased to have been given the opportunity to slap the 800th like on this gallant old video.
Replacement Rail Replacement Bus is perhaps the most Sudrian service I have ever heard of.
This is amazing. Thank you!
loved every second
That was fantastic. Thanks very much for making this video.
This is a wonderful Christmas present. Thank you very much.
17:11 Mic drop right there! 😂
One word ...Superb ! thanks so much for doing this .
Marvellous stuff Tim and the TR team! Loved every second.
So relaxing, thank you!!! Merry Christmas!!! So nice to hear my childhood again!
I'd love to have a conversation with Awdry to learn his thoughts on where Thomas and friends are today and other things Thomas related and non-Thomas related
Based on late in life interviews it seems while awdry was disatisfied with what the TVS was doing, he was fine as long as the RWS books and stories endured.
So I'm pretty sure his response would be something along the lines of the full clip the "no" meme is from, where he's asked if he thinks the TVS has any influence on the RWS.
Probably bemoan Thomas still being front and center, but otherwise he'd probably spend more time generally speaking about the state of railroads today than anything else.
Great lecture! Can’t get enough of the Talyllyn Railway and its Sudrian counterpart! Merry Christmas! 🎄🎁
Really enjoyed this. Great vid, well prepared n presented. 😎
Amazing 😃
Merry Christmas Skarloey
Thanks
Merry Christmas
I still have my copy from at least 55 years ago.
Talyllyn! How ae things?. total interesting sharing~take care-
Tell us more about the Skarloey line when in the 1950s, and then the 1960s
That’s already been told about in the Railway Series
Where did they get the phone used in the beginning?
Will the lectures be published at some point? Excellent video.
Lots of arrangements to these plots
hearing this story makes me wonder if Awdry may have heard about the mishap from Rolt himself
I love how the green screen on the train they realise that it wasn’t working so they just took the Mickey out of it
I thought Oliver only had Dulcie and Isabel. If I heard correctly, is that first trailer coach's name Duchie? If not, what is the name that is the name that was said before Dulcie? Thanks, and a huge thank you for making this video.
I see he went through stoke bank on his way to sodor because of the mallard 126mpj sign
Question, will this stay up after the premiere?
Because I am currently ill and I really cannot watch it now.
This will be available for as long as UA-cam is!
Good to know as we've got to put the little one to bed!
Greattings with Poland
Oh hi I am Polish too!
No to super
Wow, Polish tomek fan!
@@mitik392 yes i am!
@@ewgtvhuil3789 Cool!
1:52 Where was that photo taken, because that's not Pendre.
It is Pendre, they just photoshopped in a second rail to resemble the Skarloey Railway sheds - just like they photoshopped Sir Haydn and Edward Thomas into their Sir Handel and Peter Sam liveries from the '80s and '90s
I can't believe Harvey is RWS canon
Wait what?
Lol and Rocky to
Whatnow??
They are? When were they mentioned? I don’t remember hearing about them.
Who else was also reading their copy of Gallant Old Engine at the end?
It seems steam outlined Frank is canon now and that there was yet another diesel on the Arlesdale Railway (I looked into it with the engine's description and it's most likely based on Ravenglass and Eskdale's number 6 diesel 'Royal Anchor')
Sigrid of Arlesdale was originally planned to be based on Royal Anchor, but that idea got scrapped in favour of having her be based on Shelagh of Eskdale
@@sirwelcome Where does it state that? There's no connection to Sigrid in the lecture so it's got to be a seperate character
So the last s&m loko died. Omg
31:10 farm of a dog 45:00
If you are a person from the Awdry family reading this, can you make Sodor a place in real life?
Not sure how one single person could make an entire 80 mile wide island
@@sirwelcome just get a construction crew, I guess.
@@nashpeleuses how would they be able to afford it or make it?
@@sirwelcome Flip, I didn't think of that.
@@nashpeleuses yeah because you’re 2
Are you actually the real railway
Yep, we are the actual Talyllyn Railway!
NASCAR XFINITY Series
34:14 and 41:53 Duke is referred to with both male and female pronouns. This suggests, like Skarloey, he might be genderfluid.
Keep your freaky homo ideology out of a children's book series. Please.
@@at5297 The lecture doesn’t lie. Also nice job showing you have no idea what you’re talking about.
World Of Tanks Blitz
what?
