I can imagine if the engines were watching the documentary, they'd be like 'ugh, that had to be brought up'?
Well yes, but Salty could have been assigned to the Knapford docks. Brendam is only a small harbour - the position at the end of the branchline guarantees that.
@@WildNorWester That would make more sense, actually. Huh, the things you don't really think about with the TVS implications... they can be weird sometimes.

I'll admit that I can find it a bit hard to accept some of these but I still can't deny you accomplished things that influenced how I picture Sodor as well as others do. Just thinking out loud but that would be awesome. I mean no disrespect to you though you’re amazing
Can’t wait to see the stories you make. I do wonder, and this has more to do with ten cents what happened to the other tugs from the star tugs and puffer are they preserved in sided the modern years or are they scrapped cause a good example would be grandpus the submarine in real life none of his class survived but captain star saved him . I’m just wondering if we may see a story about them or if Hercules will visit Ten Cents it be nice to see if the star tugs get preserved together. Another thing was the NWR private during BR or were they part of it but BR didn’t have any control of it.
I have a few questions: 1. What happened to Wendy & Lucy? 2. Peel Godred has E5-E8, where’s E1-E4? 3. Will Emily be found? 4. Will Knapford Harbour find another engine? 5. Edward’s Branch Line have China Clay Quarry, where’s Brendam Docks?
I love this! You truly have one of the most fascinating and well developed interpretations of Sodor I have ever seen! I take it that, since she wasn't mentioned in this, that Rosie will be appearing in a future story arc?
Nice to see you back mate, big fan. Hope you had a wonderful Halloween. 😊 Hope Wendy escaped the scrapyard, maybe she escaped to the mainland or something?
So, would the original NWR electrics be a topic for the future videos? As I do wonder what E1-E4 were. Also, Arlesdale Railway going to Peel Godred, nice. A concept like that could see the AR fleet needing an extra engine or two, though Olivia likely serves that purpose. But as a fun mention, Jock has a pair of siblings in Japan, just imagine him hearing about how there's four total locomotives built to Northern Rock's design.
Great Video just had time to watch it and I am excited to see all of these places and all the possible history related story just waiting to be told . Keep Up The Great. :)
A very clever video idea, and a nice way to combine TVS inaccuracies with RWS layouts. Although I have just one question: Does cronk not exist in STMY, or is it just without a station?
I honestly hope Henry finds Emily, because that would explain their odd connection in the TV series. I honestly have lost track at how much those two are seen together. It could be something or an odd coincidence. But I don't believe in coincidences. And well, they were consistent with it up until BWBA. Plus, you did mention sometimes steam engines help out the diesels there. That or on this occasion Henry could have been wrongfully diverted on to the Norramby, but then why does he go on the old line, I don't know.
Amazing work as always, I love your interpretation of the coffee pots having cabs and one of them having a tender. Your models are always a treat to watch as they chuff along the line. I did have two questions. 1( In your chapter of Henry's Forest and Elsbridge, by the signal box hiding in the shrubbery, I noticed a small statue of engine. Is that suppose to be Henry?) 2 (In your Norramby Branchline chapter, you mentioned Emily, would I be right to say that you have future plans to bring her into your series of STMY?
This is the video I've been waiting for. I have one question though: Aren't the earliest TV episodes that feature a harbour based on stories from the railway series and then it's actually Knapford harbour, even though its name isn't said? Not all harbours obviously, Brendam is a thing too of course then, but I don't think that's where the Flying Kiper departs for example. UA-camr "The Unlucky Tug" made a map for the model series, and it features several harbours, at least that's what I recall.
23:58 it's also implied that in sodor it's people and railways, that an electric funicular railway was opened in 1985 in skarloey. It go from the town of skarloey at the top to the lake and a few hotels at the bottom. It's likely that the rolling stock and the massive electric winch for the funicular was transported by lorry, hense why we never seen them. A funicular is a type of cable propelled transit, where a rope(in this case driven by an electric winch) is used to bring one car up the line and the other car down the line.
I was legitimately surprised when I heard Emily. I thought she had been replaced by that other Stirling Single Elise. I’m glad she’s in STMY, especially since she’s grow on me and made me realize that she actually is a good female Thomas character and wasn’t just shoved into the spotlight like Nia and Rebecca.
Another great video. It does well to put a lot of locations in the series into perspective. If tou dont mind me asking why do the electric locomotives' numbers start at E6? Are their numbers a part of a future story. Well done on the video again and thank you for your years of great fan content.
Awesome video, explained a lot of things and very informative! What would typical linespeeds be? I'd imagine the main line would probably be 100mph and the standard gauge branches ranging between 50 and 85mph
@@WildNorWester Wow... That's slow for a mainline... I get there are some cinematic reasons for choosing that speed... But wow... As someone who timetables trains for a living, I could not imagine a mainline speed limited to a meager 25mph...
@@WildNorWester In technical terms, on the mainline, it'll probably be 60 for mixed freight and 75 for containers only. Loco hauled (steam and diesel) mainline passenger trains would probably go at 75-90. The mainline linespeeds could be 90/HST 100 on the straight bits with 75/HST 85 on the curvy bits. 'HST' includes HSTs (Pip and Emma) and DMUs built for 100mph. I think it's braking capabilities. I'd say branchlines could be 50-60/MU (Multiple Unit) 75
Seeing this is just making me want to finish my own custom railway route even more. The big problem though is that it’s on the Trainz 2 app since I don’t have Trainz on my laptop and after a certain while the route will refuse to open.
These Route or Routes look beautiful, apologies if this has been asked before and denied but i would love to see these released on your website, or linked to the original creators
@@WildNorWester its just that i saw so many things that i might have just missed or you added personally, and i thought that you might have made a few dioramas to enhance your sodors story
This may sound like a silly question, but is the map in Trains one full map? or is it broken up into various different small components but that still have continuity in track placement and number of tracks? I don't use Trains but I'm very curious how the actual program is made up? fantastic video as always.
It's broken up into multiple routes. The largest is the SI3D 'Island of Sodor' route. But there are so many different ones, I actually have a spreadsheet to keep track of them all. (No pun intended.)
@@WildNorWester Sweet. I imagine that makes life easier for you. Like I said, fantastic video as always. Thank you for keeping myself and all who watch entertained for so many years
I love this layout. It’s a great track plan. 1- If you could, could you make a map please? 2- Also does the ffarqhar branch go to knapford since you only said tidmouth? And where is the ffarqhar knapford harbour 3- will you any more things about tugs and what happened to the other starr tugs?
I don't know the first two questions, but I can answer the third one. Hercules is preserved and Big Mac is possibly sunk. The others remained at Bigg City Port.
1:56 so we know you plan to bring in some characters that were exclusive to the TV series. Based on the location that you set up for the big harbor would that mean someone like say Cranky would theoretically be assigned to Knapford instead of Brendam?
Very interesting I always view the Farquhar branch as the Watercress line and view the Skarloey railway as the Tallylyn railway and at Calin station and engine shed I view the sheds as the sheds from the Didcot railway
2:27 with the shunting around the larger Knapford area was getting to be too much for just Damien and Iris, so I have three theories as to how this will be sorted: 1. Sheffield gets allocated thereafter Rowan's arrival. 2. Wendy is found (assuming she somehow managed to avoid the torch), and restored. 3. the Knapford Harbor board decides to finally buy a second engine (either an OC or Salty), they wonder about what happened to the first engine, and theory 2 happens with the two working together. out of all of them, I think the 1st is the most likely but we'll have to wait and see. if you folks have your own ideas feel free to share them.
I might have a headcanon for bill and ben. So after the events of heroes from season 3, the clay pits at brendom closed after the landslide, plus im not including season 6 or so onwords, bill and ben were sent to work at the old lead mines at knapford. Why the lead mines at knapford? Well, in david mitton's map of the IOS, it clearly shows that the lead mines are a few miles away from knapford, so, my head canon is that the lead mines were re-opened after heroes, and bill and ben were sent to work there bringing lead to the docks at knapford. Weird headcanon, yeah, but it might actually work.
Do you have a map on this layout? If so, I want to see it so I can better understand where everything is located. I know it's from Tidmouth to Barrow, but what about the railway facilities?
Any chance you could do a map with legends in the community post section to give a visual representation of what you have covered it might help people to orientate themselves better. Just a suggestion.

I love this! You truly have one of the most fascinating and well developed interpretations of Sodor I have ever seen! I take it that, since she wasn't mentioned in this, that Rosie will be appearing in a future story arc?
This was a pleasure to watch! I look forward to your next upload, whenever that may be! Cheers!
I'm amazed the Arlesdale line hasn't reached Ulfstead yet. Nice touch.
I know right? :D
@@jimmyhook4852 I plan to correct that
@@FeatherWings78 Alright :D
And plus love the idea of it being expanded more along the old ROW of the Mid Sodor Railway :3
@@jimmyhook4852 there is still the issue of the Railroad
@@FeatherWings78 True. True.
Amazing video and I like the skarloey railway in your sodor the modern years videos
Will there be an episode of Emily's discovery from the norramby harbor? That I'd like to see. To add Emily to the series would be great
That is some brilliant work! I really enjoyed it! Well done! :D
Thanks 🙂
@@WildNorWester You're very welcome!
I think it's just that I forgot to mention it. Whoops.
@@WildNorWester way is Gordon wearing Smoke deflectors?
10:25 I can imagine Henry saying something like: “Shut up, it’s not funny anymore! Don’t remind me!”
I hope there is a mini series on finding Emily!!
Love the idea of the Arlesdale Railway being expanded. :3
This was a good video have you plans to do a video about the engines of each line from the precursor days to the present?
Finally I'm not the only crazy guy who has the same idea about the miniature gauge Railway
You've answered many questions, true, but perhaps raised a few more in the process, which is good for potential future stories!
Anyone else get super nostalgic for memories they never had when they watch this?
Yes
17:14 Sounds good, would love to see the Peel Godred engines in future episodes.
I didn't really know my way around when I did Sodor the Early Years - I learned about the geography and lore as I went along.
When the world needed him most, he retuned.
Wildnorwester, you documentary is great but may I asked why you didn't include the Harwick and Cregwir Tramway?
Because it's no longer active, and isn't a part of any of the still-existing railways.
@@WildNorWester Thank you for your reply
@@WildNorWester Where did you get those coach models from 6:23
These look like coaches from Ifor Engineering Works TVS Rolling Stock pack
@@animeboy9307 thanks
Emily worked for the Wellsworth & Suddery in your AU? That's really cool
Yep. You can actually see the rails for the furnicular in the background of one or two of the shots of the Skarloey Railway, if you look closely.
This was a great video, It gave me some Ideas of my own layout for Sodor.
I have a feeling that Emily is still alive at Noramby Harbour, waiting to be found
I find it interesting the numbers you've got for the 4 Peel Godred electric engines Nos E5-E8. Was there ever an E1-E4? If so, what happened to them?
I may be covering that in a future story.
@@WildNorWester Ooh! I'm looking forward to it.
Wildnorwester, I notice the elephant statue in the nature reserve 24:49 from the tvs episode The Runaway Elephant.
Awesome video, explained a lot of things and very informative! What would typical linespeeds be? I'd imagine the main line would probably be 100mph and the standard gauge branches ranging between 50 and 85mph
I usually film the mainlines at 25MPH, and the branchline/narrow gauges around 18-20MPH.
@@WildNorWester Wow... That's slow for a mainline... I get there are some cinematic reasons for choosing that speed... But wow...
As someone who timetables trains for a living, I could not imagine a mainline speed limited to a meager 25mph...
@@mastertrams It's a question of what looks good on camera, you're right. I may up the speed a bit. Just a question of finding that balance.
@@WildNorWester Though that does now make me curious to see what 75-80mph might look like on S:TMY... Even if just for a single shot!
I like the lore, it's really good.
Seeing this is just making me want to finish my own custom railway route even more. The big problem though is that it’s on the Trainz 2 app since I don’t have Trainz on my laptop and after a certain while the route will refuse to open.
This is amazing. Lovely video. What is the next series out for sodor the modern years
These Route or Routes look beautiful, apologies if this has been asked before and denied but i would love to see these released on your website, or linked to the original creators
Unfortunately, the biggest one which covers most of the map is no longer available publicly.
@@WildNorWester would that be the si3d route?, in which case i already have that
@@WildNorWester its just that i saw so many things that i might have just missed or you added personally, and i thought that you might have made a few dioramas to enhance your sodors story
What a rich history you've written!
Thanks 🙂
And where is the ffarqhar knapford harbour
3- will you any more things about tugs and what happened to the other starr tugs?
I don't know the first two questions, but I can answer the third one. Hercules is preserved and Big Mac is possibly sunk. The others remained at Bigg City Port.
@@numberjacksoctonauts7138 thanks I only known about Big Mac but I didn’t know about the others
"You wanted Emily in the series? There she's dead, end of!"
A year later and it's still hilarious
28:32 I do hope the platform and seeds are restored one day, or atleast turned into a museum for visitors.
1:56 so we know you plan to bring in some characters that were exclusive to the TV series. Based on the location that you set up for the big harbor would that mean someone like say Cranky would theoretically be assigned to Knapford instead of Brendam?
I'm not planning to bring in Cranky. But if I did, he would be at Knapford, yes.
@@WildNorWester Many thanks for the insight.
Could a story covering the old Norramby harbor being explored be possible in the future?
You are really detailed, Excellent work👏👏👏
Very interesting I always view the Farquhar branch as the Watercress line and view the Skarloey railway as the Tallylyn railway and at Calin station and engine shed I view the sheds as the sheds from the Didcot railway
To be honest, what you made as Knapford Harbor I always thought WAS Knapford Harbor
Exactly! It seems more natural. It was just the TV series changed it, for some strange reason.
2:27 with the shunting around the larger Knapford area was getting to be too much for just Damien and Iris, so I have three theories as to how this will be sorted:
4. None of the above 😉.
Hmm i wonder who will help with Knapford and i wonder where Emily is since it seems she disappeared after that bombing
A bit of a question: why do the sheds for some have names if sheds don’t usually have designated spots, as engines would come and go
These sheds do have designated spots.
It would be nice to have a episode about Emily being found similar to Adeline her story.
But it is doubtfull that she survived the bombing.
Never say never⭐
I like how the fact it's just rws map with tvs sprinkled abit
I wonder if Emily survived the bombing of the norramby harbour and if she will appear in future episodes
Looking forward to Rowan the Garrett engine, best wishes. 🚂
Now we need a video on the engines of Sodor
I can see Rosie arriving in Lily's Little Western Adventure, to handle the Arsedale Harbor and Yard as it's permanent engine.
That's the idea, but Rosie will be getting her own mini-series.
