why is there no lifter for the intake valve? is the piston pulling air-fuel past the valve against the valve spring?
You are correct, it would be an atmospheric intake valve. They rely on a very light valve spring.
I have a real John Deere hit and miss engine and the intake valve on it is the same as this
All that work & not a sturdy base to mount it on😮
Its already mounted on a base.
