When I watch Riggs play scrambles I don't think he's very impressive. I would honestly guess he would be a high 80's low 90's player just from watching the scrambles. But when he plays his own ball like this it really shows that he's a decent golfer especially if he's been hitting in the 70's. Definitely a fun watch and would love to see more from Riggs!
So many people who don't actually keep or manage a real competition handicap calling Riggs out. The fact is 83 is solid and an average round of a mid/high single digit player. I've played club championship rounds with guys off 4/5 many times (I am off 9) and 83 I would say is likely the average 'not great' score for one of them. Golf is hard, 83 is good and reflective of the fact the man is likely mid/high single digits. Few putts drop he breaks 80.

83 is better than solid for a 9-11 HCP it is a low round and likely in their top 8 that contributes to their HCP. Handicap is not 'average score' handicap is average of your best 8 scores. He’s a course 4 handicap here which means 75 is the number. On average, he should be shooting a 78 then (handicap+3). Given that he’s allegedly a low handicapper (under 5), he should be hitting that 75 or better 33% of the time. 83 is not a good round, obviously. But it makes it even less believable to think Riggs can go out and shoot close to par at this course to even that out. The dude just doesn’t have nearly good enough ball striking. Great short game though and great content

I can't even really "root" for Trent anymore. he hasn't really improved much since breaking 100. for a golf channel that has all the access in the world to equipment, training/lessons, amazing tracks to play on you think he would be better. the only one i can put up with is Frankie. his butterknife days almost seem to be over. probably the best OG foreplay member.
Switch the architects names on the course and Cholla gets a much higher rating. Cholla is a more traditional desert golf course and a lot more fun to play.
Riggs, we play in GA, and 98 in the summer feels like 120, so I feel you brother. After the front 9, it starts to become an absolute grind and shit show all at once, praying for AC just like you hahaha. 83 I still better than 90% of amateur golfers that can’t break 90.
