Two things I forgot to add:
- Nuxia's traps do not get triggered by the Bulwark Counter, and the counter does not flip the trap. Both just whiff.
- It's literal immunity while in the flip move. I should've emphasized that more.

Did you try using a black prior to flip a black prior's 360 unblockable after a successful flip? I never thought I would have to type such a sentence
but- Nuxia's traps, as much as I hate the bloody things, counter block attempts; BP is blocking.
You forgot about is pre Tiandi nerf oos pressure, where he can just light into bash into light you to death while you are oos :)))))
Edit: Also the attack after the flip is automatic. So if you do the move, and go oos because of it. The attack will still come out. And the flip ledges :))))

@@captainnyet9855 to Black Priors credit, what makes him as strong as he is, is simply the stance. He has shield bashes, but they're far more reactable than conqs (from what I've seen and heard be said), good damage and no stupid 400 ms lights.
If you removed the stance, I reckon he'd effectively be a mix of Warden and Warlod (quite literally)

Well on pc the heroes with just fast lights are far from the strongest. shove/bash/push into guaranteed dmg is what its all about.

So I see the title of the video and think to myself "It's an all block counter that beats unblockable moves and melee attacks, what's there to explain?" But then I think to myself "But this is freeze we are talking about... there's NO chance I'm not gonna learn something even if it's a game mechanic that's so basic everyone should already know everything about it (you would think anyway)." What do you know, you can counter "guaranteed" moves like deflects and nobushi kick AND you have total damage immunity, I learned something new. Just another reason on why I should watch freeze videos in the future.
You see a lot of comments where people say "you deserve more subscribers" when I think to myself "no he doesn't, this is a stupid channel, he probably deserves less". Freeze is a good example of a channel that really deserves more. All the testing, frame data, all the testing, mechanic interactions, all the testing, optimizations, testing, information, oh and did I mention the amount of time this guy spends testing shit out for us and the benefit of the community? The shit this guy tests out and finds valuable information on, I wouldn't have even thought of testing.
I just love how freeze's place has become some sort of For Honor data wiki that is usually just accepted universally as THE source when it comes to gameplay numbers. It's at least the undisputable number one source for me.

In the "mythbuster" video it just showed how ridiculous it is. They bulwark countered jump attacks and since the counter literally makes you invulnerable they survived catapults.

Nut Protector it’s because the bulwark stance and counter are designed to be anti- gank
Valentin Tanase that’s understandable. But I believe a few things will undoubtedly get fixed. 1. Flipped opponents will get damage reduction 2. Prior will not be invincible 3. Won’t work on deflects.
But if he’s not invincible the rest of the team could just gank/feat him while he’s in the flip animation
A simple fix is instead of him being immune, he just has damage reduction. So he can't be feated/ganked to death while in the animation. Those who get hit with it should get a damage reduction too, so they too can't be essentially instakilled while stuck in the animation.

Everybody is posting videos about everything that bulwark can do but nobody seems to understand that all of this is in a controlled environment getting thrown at people expecting the attacks. I dare you to react to somebody deflecting your attack without knowing that they will until its too late. If you go into bulwark after throwing every attack just in case, guess what? They could just guardbreak for free damage instead.
A lot of people are missing the fact that bulwark doesn't just delete the enemies moves. The purpose as explained by the devs is in a gank or multi-fight scenario where people will throw out attacks without focusing on every opponent. If conquerer goes into full guard too often he will get guardbroken almost every time by their opponent adapting, and BP will be no different. Good luck bulwarking everything your opponent throws if they can just feint and get guaranteed damage on you instead.
As for the external blocking shenanigans, this also applies to Conq’s full block and any wide sweeping characters, if the attack hits your shield you get your unblockable counter regardless of whether it’s aiming for you.

I've been looking forward to your BP videos, and these two did not disappoint. Seems like his recovery cancel into Bulwark is going to be very important. I'm really psyched to try him out!
Also glad to hear that Nuxia's traps whiff (as a Nuxia main). I wonder what kind of success she will have against Bulwark Stance (I presume that her traps connect when he is in all block, yes?). She has some potential unique mindgames with him that may be interesting.
I'm super excited for this character even more than I was already. I've wanted a sword and shield knight for so long, and I'm glad that not only is he not another Conqueror or light spammy character, but that he has unique mechanics that can really make him stand out in team fights.
500 ms bash that confirms 20 dmg and is delayable. Also has low recovery. It is functionally identical to Conqueror's, except it even does more dmg.
Bort's bash is stronger than Conq's and according to Mege, can be delayed the exact same way. It can't be dodge GB punished if the opponent is tagged by a light, and his OOS pressure is on par with or even better than Conq's and Warden's. It's brutal.
Ironically, despite having a bigger shield, BP's not as strong defensively as Conq or Warden lacking side-dodge bash punishes and having a weaker O/S parry (and lacking Conq's other O/S options) but offensively BP seems to be on their level or greater, especially once the opponent's OOS.
Vortiger is Conqueror, sorry to break it to ya.

Damn, this hero is actually really cool! I might love it, with my only gripe being how quickly he can activate the counter. It seems really fast, but if he is vulnerable after the counter, like on a miss for example, then maybe it will be balanced in that way. Actually, thinking about it now, I may have a problem with the 100% damage reduction during the flip as well as the follow up punish. That seems like a bit much.
Those points withstanding, this is one of the more fleshed out introductions of a new mechanic that I've seen yet. If the Nuxia's traps had been this well thought out and executing it would have been amazing.

Fun fact, bulwark counter works on enemies and corpses that have been launched. From executed corpses to shugoki ball. Limits so far seem to be that it must be an enemy and it needs to be something that would hit you in some manner, even if all it does is stagger.
I randomly stumbled upon this. I obviously was going to watch, as I'm a black prior main. So this gives me other things to do as black prior.

This caracter can basically counte every hero with one simple move... i already know who im going to spam this year lmao
I attempted to do the Bulwark counter and got hit twice by Cent's heavy full charge, twice. Even when I'm already in Bulwark stance, I hit light button as soon as the indicator flicked, and as Cent flying toward me, and still got hit. Is there a vulnerable window or is there something I misunderstand?
It's really funny that the Centurion was created to counter the turtle strategy of Conqurers, and a fairly similar character in design/purpose is used to counter stun hits like Cent's punches and kick.
Wait would it be possible to counter OOL (Out of lock) attacks say if
someones chasing you and they hit an attack usually they can land 2 hits
on you.. but if he goes into bullwark stance could he counter that

Freeze, at what frames are you no longer GB vulnerable after the startup of the unblockable heavy? Cause if theres only like 100 ms vulnerability you could basically force a GB and punish it all in one

What if while you're flipping someone and with the sweeping punish after you hit another vortiger in full block. Will you get flipped from your punish? You said if you can get hit, you can flip them.

I still don't understand what triggers when he will flip you. Will he flip me if I attack him during his bulwark stance or does he have to do something special

Bulwark counters also activates on enemies thrown to BP, so that can save BP from getting team-ledged

Basically they took the second best offense in the game (Conqueror) buffed it (13 to 20dmg confirm) and combined it with the best anti-bash defense in the game as well as the best crushing counters in the game and the best dodges in the game (0ms startup on dodge-block)
Yes, for console maybe. BUT high lvl pc, there is no spam , mindless or not, u will get parry. This mechanic will destroy the hole game as its now anyways, all turtling around , becaus the punishes r just too heavy, and NOW u will have extra reason to turtle , becaus no matter what u do, light, heavy ,bash u will get punish .

If you choose to turtle against BP you probably just get bashed to death. This hero should encourage people to start thinking and planning as they play against him.
High level clearly will be different, because they know what they do, whenever they fight.

So i will turtle and hope to not get a person which only shieldbash+light all time, so i can parry his light or deflect . If you think its the problem of the game mechanic. In everyfight game, u have something which u can punish with somethingelse. IF you actually think , you can stay there and shield +light bash everyone if you can block and parry and react to attacks of enemy The same with zone of glad, ok people dodge it, but stay there and do it 20 times, u will be successful at least 10 time and if you play vs a orochi , u can win just by doing 1 thing . Its the reason why conq. is first place in .DATA . People just try to not be an ASS and enjoy the game while they play a lit bit fair. BUT there r kids which only want to win and the game give them what they want. I love bulwark stance, it doesn't seem op it just seems strong, and getting a gb more than enough compensates for the move. But that damn conq shield bash needs to go.
Now just try to gb him while you are ganked... enjoy the dmg the rest of his team will do to you.
@Pimpster Pidgeon Like all full blocks except for Ara, people with good reaction times will react to your GB attempt and exit Bulwark on time to CGB you or simply light you out of your GB. This is possible due to the exit of Bulwark having almost no recovery
If you’re facing someone with good reactions, Bulwark will be virtually unpunishable.
It isn’t as simple as guard breaking it because he can attack from it with a move that nocks back guard break

@@Haspei7 During a gank it would be tough mostly for his dumb op feats and if you counter your exterior attacks that will also be bad. But we'll see, tbh id prefer bulwark over conq bashes any day.

I think the lack of recovery on regularly exiting is a bit much because unless the attack applies immediate pressure to flip, BP can just exit and counter any gb feint or just block.

My question is, if it doesn't care about lock, and the flip's attack is a 360 attack, can you flip the slash if you aren't the one being flipped, and do like an infinite chain of flips?

One question remains for me, as I cannot really tell it from the footage: If you get attacked when u preform a bulwark counter, do you skip the animation of the first one, starting a new, and restart the auto counter and invulnerable frames, like how u auto parry attack when u get hit in parry animation, or the first counter animation plays out no matter what and external attackas, just get flipped "magically" without animation?
you keep flipping and when you're done, only then do you perform the 360° swipe

Several things to note about this video:
-While yes it can counter a lot of things, at the same time all of them were expected by the player to showcase it. In an actual fight, it'll function somewhat similarly to Nobushi's hidden stance I expect. Not designed for hard turtling. Also Nobushi is now even weaker plz buff best gril
-It takes around 1/3 of your Stamina to flip into Slash someone, and also seems to stop stamina regen, meaning you can't *really* just turtle it, not forever.
-It seems theres a 400-500ms delay before going into Bulwark if you mistime the Counter so yea watch out for that.
-Vortiger is now Number 1 teamfighter Hero.
yes, I obviously expected the moves that I showcased.
Point being is that while sitting in BW you have 100ms longer to react to bashes. That's simply math.
It also eliminates choice reactions and turns them into single reactions for specific moves.
And for a lot of those to happen you NEED to make the read. But if you did so successfully, you can actually pull this off in a real match.
The fact he can survive a catapult while flipping somebody is scary
Don't know why but I can't seem to interrupt players combos with bulwark or counter. I can't do it quick enough. Dunno what I'm doing wrong. I just keep getting attacked.

Been playing BP and I think that post flip/ sweep attack there’s a lag before going back to neutral. I’ve been taking on a couple players and they’ve gotten an execution on me after the flip sweep
