just started watching the video and thought you might want to see this video about one guy's experience with a certain brand of intake. digging the gold, man! ua-cam.com/video/ZbdFzY25MaY/v-deo.html
Meanwhile, my Edelbrock Pro-Flo 4 is in and the car is running! Gotta hook up a couple more things and replace a control arm, and my 1969 Firebird convertible will be back on road!
@Keevaro, I had a '68 Camaro SS in high school! Total sleeper. Had the Eidelbrock High Rise and switching from the OG Quadrajet to the Holley 650 double-pumper never got my previous times again! Just couldn't get the mix right! Sob, then that 4X4 Ford Pick up pulled out in front of my in October of 1980 and The End. Sob.
I love your Mustang since day one. Keep it for life, like your kin did theirs. Maybe, perhaps, one day, your offspring will ride in it, will hear your stories, and have their own. You been blessed since you bought that car, never had to tear into the internals on that motor, and you have given it hell and enjoyed it. Wishing you a happy future Four Speed Films....
Nothing beats the right tool for the job. Vice grips and plyers can do a lot but never get it just right. Especially crimping. Maybe grampa needs to hold a class in an upcoming vid.....Just sayin'. I've watched a lot of YT how-tos on dialing in carbs, but I almost always learn something new each time.
You have to be the coolest kid ever . Your car is amazing simple but loud enough to be noticed and respected . Your dad must be proud.stay humble young man .
Bet it runs better than with the edelbrock. Holleys have to be tuned a lot more and fiddled with to get right but when they're setup right they're so much better at like part throttle and the low end
I just got my 65 on the road over here in the UK. Had to replace my carb with a new one and it sorted out most of the issues. I need to clean up the intake like you have done here but while its working I will leave it. probably a winter job for me now while its running.
The journey begins. Next will be a double pumper (telling you from experience, no choke required in So Cal) and a fat wallet and you'll be a member of the 7 mpg club! I can't tell by your videos, but an MSD ignition box will give you a world of low end power! Once you go there, you can't live without it. Happy gear banging!
I've been subbed for awhile now. Love a young guy that's a gearhead! Lol. Really impressed with the car. Nice to see a young generation that's into the older muscle cars or should I have said "pony cars", lol. Live n learn! Like how you don't edit out the bad stuff. Pat yourself on the back! Your doing a fine job with the Stang. I love it
Another killer video and thanks for drive shaming me. I need to get one of my three rides back on the road soon. They've all been way more than 2 mo's but family and responsibilities get in the way.
Don't think I ever saw a gold intake n looks absolutely cool, love your mustang reminds of my younger days where if you drove a street rod it was all backyard build.
Stang is sounding healthy Ben! Glad you have a couple of old school hot rooms to help out and guide you. The car seems to run smoother with good power delivery. The updates under the hood look great and are a big improvement. If the block has been decked it can throw off the manifold sealing surfaces. I think you guys did good figuring that out. May you have smooth straight roads ahead. Great job!
Car looks and sounds great. Videos are great too, keep them coming. It's great to see you young guns wrenching on these old jalopies, sure beats video games. 👍🏻
that's a sick car and i'm glad you got it running again. It's a gut wrenching feeling to see the milkshake oil, but you just put your head down and got it fixed, well done.
You are doing great!! Love your videos, very professional!!! Time for Holley to step up and sponsor you with a upper engine kit with new intake, aluminum heads, rockers, roller cam & lifters then top it off with one of their super cool fuel injection systems!! You can do some really in depth videos of the entire install, it would be awesome!! And, OMG, the old green Mustang would definitely Rip when you get done!!!!! COME ON HOLLEY!!!!!
Man at 3:55 we can see the trottle linkage hitting the air filter, you should fix that before it goes right trough it haha. Loves your videos and how you work on your car! Keep it up bro, greets from France!
Congrats on getting your beautiful Mustang back on the road! Sounds so lovely and looks so good!! I'm very close to getting my 66 Marlin on the road, I'm hoping one day to have it as dialed as yours!!
Man I do miss my 66. Maybe I’ll have one in the future again. Right now playing with a 63 Fairlane ranch wagon and a 65 Galaxie. The galaxie hasn’t run since 2014, and I just got the new 400/c6 setup in and cranking. Can’t wait for it to run again. It’s been too long
Ben they make 2 different intake gaskets big and small Make sure you used the correct ones it will leak around water ports. could possibly be your problem
I know it's a little late, but while it is possible your intake was milled to match milled heads. I noticed with the "new" intake you used the FelPro blue gaskets that have a raised bead on them. They are meant for cast iron intake manifolds, so with an aluminum one, it won't "crush" enough to seal. I didn't see what gaskets you used to reinstall old intake with, if they are the same blue ones, then that shoots this idea down. I believe Edelbrock and other alum intake companies recommend Fel Pro #1250 for SBFs, and they do recommend 1/4 bead of silicone vs the cork end gaskets (which push out). Good on you putting silicone on water ports only, it will get eaten by the gasoline eventually on the intake ports. Great content, keep wrenchin!
I think I should consider a Holley two barrel carb for mine again. My grandpa said that a conversion to 4 bbl wouldn't really be worth it for power gains and you would lose some low-end torque. But if I'm gonna convert the car over to manual shift from the C4 automatic I need a smoother running engine. I still have the factory equipped 2 barrel and had to get it rebuilt and it still feels a little jerky even after my grandpa and I re tuned it.
I like what you have done so far great job! Next: Get some seats for racing with safety belts! It will keep you from slamming into the steering wheel or being ejected wich is how most people were killed in those old cars!
Why not compare old intake to new, to see if it was milled to suit the heads. Just match them up one upside down and see if the carb flanges are parallel, can level one intake then use angle gauge to determine delta. Or do with some less rube Goldberg method....

hey at 3:56 it looks like the throttle linkage fouls the air cleaner assembly. no?
Thought it did too from the video…just checked and I’m all clear👌
@@FourSpeedFilms i watched it over again and had second thoughts. :)
Your Grandpa and Dad helping with your car is wholesome AF
Getting sponsored by Holley must really cool. They make some amazing parts.
Grandpa's rule. Soak up all you can, Ben. Thanks for posting
Glad that Holley supports someone learning some old iron skills.
as long as you have a yt channel. :)

You remind me of me 40 years ago! Love the Mustang and the wheels and tires. Subscribed.
Refreshing that you don't feel obligated to dyno before/after and that you just care about the engine running smooth and reliable.

Or the Mickey Thompson's!

I don’t think it’s actually hitting it.
Congrats on getting the mustang back up. I'm in the middle of replacing all the suspension on mine.
your car has been such an inspiration to me. thank you for being who you are and doing what you do, as well as sharing your adventures with us💛
That's a great feeling getting a car that's faced some adversity back out on the road.
Keep on perservering man 👍👍

Yeah they are pretty distinct
Luv the revitalized engine!!!

Would be cool to see a vid of your grandpa turning the screws and explaining his process on the carb setup.
Really cool, engine bay looking great after the changes
Thanks!
Looks a lot better for sure
Your videos are the best!

Ben stop making me want a Mustang! Especially now they are cheaper than a Skyline haha
Sweet! Nice work!
Love the 65 stang beautiful car
Not a 65 but a 66

yo the mustang is looking fresh and the engine clean!
Glad to see you got it running good bro
Great video Ben.
Nice going
Looks awesome and sounds legit. Love it man
Dude road trip it!
I enjoyed this video SO much that I had to clean the non existent grease from underneath my fingernails when I was done
You should go on Jay Leno’s garage. You’ll be a star
Cool stang, keep up the great work!
👍🔔 I'm suprised that the old hotrodders didnt know how to check your manifold fit issue.
Glad its running. 👍👍
minectoo. 😁😁😎
