    Appreciate the content but FYI, the red border on your thumbnail made it appear as if I had already seen the video. I scrolled past it then noticed later that it was just a boarder and I needed to watch it.

    What gives you the idea that there's no rubber in a Sniper throttle body?
    The Sniper Stealth is shaped even more like a carb than the Sniper2. I'm running one (Sniper Stealth) on my Windsor. The stealth has always been a better choice for Ford owners.
    Installation is not what I would consider a DIY process for most people. Using the clamped-on O2 bung is a problem waiting to happen. You really should have one welded in to avoid the inevitable leaking gasket on the strap-on bung.
    You should replace all of your rubber fuel line with PTFE hose. This is a lot more expensive than plain rubber hose, but you should never have to replace the fuel line again. Rubber fuel line WILL decay after about 5 years.
    Holley's learned tune is usually a touch fat, so you should have it manually tuned at some point.
    In the end, the original Sniper have several weak components that a) the Sniper Stealth didn't have, and b) they fixed in the Sniper2. If anyone is currently running a Sniper 1 (especially on a Ford), my advice is to just change to the Sniper Stealth, because the sniper stealth will use all of your existing Sniper wiring harness, and all you have to do is add an external regulator (if you haven't already done so).

    Im looking at buying the 2300 sniper kit for my 68 f350 with the 360FE. Any advice or things to look for before i spend $1,500 on it? Im tired of having to constantly be tuning my carb for altitude when i go up and down the mountain for work (utility truck) and would be nice to get some better mpg’s considerigas here is almost $6 a gallon

    This is a great review! Can you do a follow up in 6 months or a year? I'm running a normal carb but I'm waiting for mine to completely give out first.

    What was your fuel consumption with the carb? Pretty cool you get 18 MPG

      14 if I kept my foot out of it but realistically closer to 12 🤣
      It’s important to note that my car is geared super tall which helps a lot with fuel consumption. Thanks for watching!

      Devil's advocate: A properly adjusted carb will give you the same mileage. The key phrase there is "properly adjusted". A well-designed EFI is easier once it's installed, and because it's all computer controlled, it doesn't require as much work to get those mileage numbers. Of course, it depends on how your engine is built. I have a stoutly-built Windsor stroker with a Sniper Stealth, and I get about 6mpg. Quite literally, YMMV (your mileage may vary).

    Yes we know fuel injection it's good, but not trotle body injection multi port injection is the standard.

    I had no issue with the holley carb. Carter afb however was trash, then went to fitech in 2016... now crapped out and no customer service. Bought a sniper 2 and runs very well and the adjustability is so much better. The PC software alone was worth the purchase!

    On the Sniper 2,
    There are two Adjustments screws with green springs around them.
    I really want to know what each screw adjusts?
    Like the front one (towards the front of the turck) adjusts _____ ?
    And the rear most one is for adjusting the _____________________?

    18mpg on the highways pretty great! I assume thats even with spirited driving as one does to properly enjoy the car. Now that times gone by, have you done any further tuning or long trips to see if youre mileage continues to improve?

    If it has a carburetor on it, don't use fuel with ethanol. That goes for lawnmowers, chainsaws, generators as well as classic cars. Many gas stations have ethanol-free options.

    curious what model fuel pressure regulator you have. I have a Sniper 1 on my '65 Mustang but I've already had to replace the internal regulator diaphragm. I'd rather run an external one with a gauge.

    • @jsimmonstx
      @jsimmonstx 8 місяців тому

      Chris is running a Holley regulator #12-882. As long as it's a return-style regulator that can handle up to 60psi you'll be fine. I'm running an Aeromotive #13301. As far as mounting a small gauge on it, be aware that most of the gauges are really crappy in terms of quality. I've had two (two different manufacturers) fail - one, the needle broke off, and the other spewed gas all over my engine compartment. I have a none EFI car with the same Aeromotive regulator and use a 2-5/8 gauge mounted in a gauge cup and connected to the regulator with a length of steel braided line. Finally, don't make the mistake of mounting the regulator or the gauge on the engine. The heat/vibration will eventually cause premature failure of the gauge.

    Are the wires shielded? Mine picked Up RFI through wires and TPS/IAC as well. Use high resistance plug wires in Case.

    • @jsimmonstx
      @jsimmonstx 8 місяців тому

      I use the Ford racing cut-to-fit wires. They work just as well as the Holley-recommended MSD wires, and even better, they're only half the price of the MSD.

    How’s the exhaust fumes smell compared to the carburetor? Have you noticed the difference?

    • @jsimmonstx
      @jsimmonstx 8 місяців тому

      You mean gas smell? If you smell gas, there's either a leak, or your carb needs adjustment. Float level too high, fuel pressure too high, accelerator pump needs adjustment, any number of things can cause that.

      @bryceforadory5175 it's a POS the sniper one.... My car dies out all the time just randomly bogs out when accelerating. I have holley sniper 2 in my room the upgrade kit. I'm waiting to see more reviews on the sniper 2 before I return it. Bought it cause I got it on sale and my cars wired for it already idk will see. If not I'm going carb

      Before you get a sniper 2, look at the Sniper Stealth. You can re-use your existing Sniper 1 wiring harness, display screen, and O2 sensor. You'll still have to get an external regulator, so it's kind of a wash as far as cost is concerned.

    @ 9:44, did I hear a second gear tire "chirp?" That's too cool!! I love my C4 tranny w/ Transgo shift kit. And you were running a point ignition, man I hated points, once I learned about electronic conversion kits, I jumped on it.
