My kinda first car was a white 65 Mustang 289 2V, I paid $15. For it. Me and 6 kids pushed it 2 blocks to get it to my mom's house. When I got there Mom said you're to young to buy a car. So I sold it for $40. To another school friend the car needed a battery and a carb. He got it running a few days later with my help. He was 15 and was only allowed to go up and down his driveway. A few months later it got a rod knock.
Very impressive performance! 300hp is just about perfect for a cruiser/daily driver. Sounds awesome and it's fast enough to have fun but not get into too much trouble!

Love the build. I have two of these cars. Seems like an optimistic dyno. Stock heads suck on the 289, unless they have the heart shaped combustion chamber and ported to the max. 300hp should be good for mid-13s at the track with a good tire, I say take it out there and let it rip for the next video. Cool video, 255 Horsepower at the rear wheels is not bad. How much compression do you have? What Camshaft are you using? At what type of mufflers are you running, I ran FlowMaster dual chamber on my past 1966 A code Mustang Fastback and they were a bit too loud for me, I wish I could have fit three chamber FlowMaster's. Magna Flow's are also nice sounding, and sound mellow at idle. To use Flex fuel E85 don't you need a Stainless Steel or Plastic Gas Tank so you don't corrode the factory steel one?
Very healthy small block with street manors. Hopefully, fuel economy will increase with the EFI. It would be nice to know before and after since some folks with EFI claim poor fuel economy.
by boring a 289 cui engine to 302 and changing the camshaft plus installing an edelbrock carburator and intake the car performed on the dyno 240 hp at he wheel. Not to forget the magna flow exhaust which probably made some hp.
Your car sounds good even rolling off idle. Almost has a big block deep throaty sound at lower RPM. Does the FiTech make it easy to tune for E85? It'd be cool to see the difference if so. I know some guys re-time when they switch, but rejetting can be annoying. Pushing a button or setting a saved tune would be much sweeter.
What kind of gearing do you have in the rear? That makes a big difference too. Now that you have been bitten by the power bug, time to start saving for all the goodies. Maybe a huffer or turbo. Those butterflies sticking above the hood really look cool! Once my son got 400hp to the wheels, his bank account started draining. Keep banging those gears.

Try the E85, you will like the power you get from it, and you will be able to feel the difference.
I was gonna go holly sniper, maybe Ill check these out!! Dude hell yes wanna see flex fuel. Holly sniper you have to increase the displacement to get it correct, so is there an E85 setting???
Wise decision switching to fuel injection! It makes your car faster, yet more economical. Next upgrade to think of is a 5-speed, perhaps from a Fox Body parts car or whatever fits. Better spaced ratios mean even better performance, and the extra gear will allow you to cruise on the highway more quietly and efficiently.
I know people are saying "Only 255HP ( 300 at the crank )" but thats a sub 2600 pound car. I owned a 289 65 mustang and 0-60 is done in sub 6 seconds in those cars. Think about that for a minute. To the owner of this car. Ditch those rims. Friends Dad is a insurance investigator and he saw those rims ALL the time ... Broken. I had a set ( this was 20+ years ago ) and when he saw them he was like " You know those rims "break" right? lol He showed me like 30 photos of them where they sheared off the Barrel.
255hp nothing wrong with that. Some of my fondness memories were with my stock 289 I so miss it I have a 393 now but not the same. It's hard to keep together my 289 went for years. Stress on components

E85 time haha
How do I keep seeing you everywhere SFG? lotuseaters, dating channels, and now 4 speed films.
It sounds like your engine is built similar to what a K code was so that seems like pretty accurate power numbers for your engine build
Have done torque box install on the green machine?
Nope! I’ve hear of it tho
I was gonna go holly sniper, maybe Ill check these out!! Dude hell yes wanna see flex fuel. Holly sniper you have to increase the displacement to get it correct, so is there an E85 setting???
I believe you have to increase displacement by 30% on FiTech too.
@@FourSpeedFilms Ahhhh.Good to know. Hope you show it on part 3!!
Dude!!! Awesome numbers!!! 🇺🇸💪🏼 would love to see the gain on E85.
Same
Soon :)
What size are the wheels on the Mustang?
15x7
Hey I have a 66 coupe and ready to pick tires and wheels. What size do you suggest?
Look into 15x8 wheels
Wise decision switching to fuel injection! It makes your car faster, yet more economical. Next upgrade to think of is a 5-speed, perhaps from a Fox Body parts car or whatever fits. Better spaced ratios mean even better performance, and the extra gear will allow you to cruise on the highway more quietly and efficiently.
Congrats bro, she sounds wicked!!
Thanks!
Daily car of my dreams. Pure eargasm. Cheers from Italy where the gas price is almost 2 euros x liter 😅😅😅
What all has been done to the motor? Just the cam and headers?
Intake, bored heads, bigger pistons, and I’m not sure what else. Previous owner built it
@@FourSpeedFilms thanks for the response. Love your content!
That's decent power coming from that little 289 cant wait to see what you do next
Just a little 289 haha
what cam do you run right now????
Can't wait for the one year update and mileage report.
What kind of weight are you at? Reckon it’s a decent power to weight ratio for daily and some fun
Not sure! I’m sure under 3k
hey what wheels do you have on your 1965 mustang? Are they American Racing? If so which ones?
American racing torque thrust
@@FourSpeedFilms Thanks!
American Racing refers to them as Torq Thrust wheels.
Love the sound, love the car!
I'd set my RPM limiter to 5500, it will be nice to see a 3 month up date, as far as gas mileage goes & the noticeable HP response.
Damn that car sounds so good
Thanks Jared!
A healthy and capable 289 engine!
Thanks John!
What cam are you running ben?
Nice now a decent set of heads woul cut weight and get you way more power.
Nice ride man.
That would be cool!
I may have to try fitech out on my 66 mustang
What kind of mpg are you getting after switching over?
Don’t know but seems better
What cam do you use?
🔔😎🇺🇸
Nice.
What tire sizes?
I went 5.0 HO fuelie T5 in 1995. Really love it.👍
Good job Ben 👍
Thanks!
255hp nothing wrong with that. Some of my fondness memories were with my stock 289 I so miss it I have a 393 now but not the same. It's hard to keep together my 289 went for years. Stress on components
Nice!
What cam are you running?
I’m not sure. Previous owner put it in
Driving impression vid EFI coming up??
Yeah lol. My car is apart because of another project. Should be running next week
Hell yeah new video during a lunch break 😎
Thanks for watching!
E85 is pretty corrosive . that's why newer cars that run it have stainless and plastic fuel systems
That’s what I’ve heard
You want more power? How about a B&M single carb (FI) supercharger?
