One thing I learned using this sub -- don't place too close to walls or other furniture. Leave at least a foot in all directions. I ended up with it in a corner, but still a foot from either wall. Originally I had it close to a wall, then close to a dresser, and both of these really neutered the bass. Re-read the manual for placement guidelines, and placed it in an open corner, and the sound really opened up.
Nice review. If I were to take out the amp on one of these, I would add some bracing side to side and top to bottom. I agree that dropping the Heco line would be a shame; I heard the 1000 towers and they are very good at their MSRP price point.
The cabinet is constructed really well already but some additional bracing wouldn't hurt. You sound like me and like to tinker with speakers like I do. :) Yeah, it's really sad that AA appears to be dropping the Heco line. The Aurora SUB 30A just became out of stock on Amazon and on AA's website so I'm assuming we won't be seeing anymore at the $229 sale price. The people who were able to get this subwoofer for $229 received an amazing deal!
@@Zimmy_1981 You can still use an AVR. You would turn the crossover setting on the sub as high as possible and let the crossover on the AVR handle the bass management assuming your AVR has a dedicated sub output. You would just connect that with RCA to one of the stereo inputs on the sub.

Hi Rick, I tried reaching out to Audio Advice via email to see if they are discontinuing Heco in America and didn't receive a response. Sadly I don't think Audio Advice will be replenishing their inventory anytime soon and just like you I have also noticed several models have been out of stock for a while. I would recommend that you buy both subwoofers and return the one you don't like. Both companies have a great return policy for this reason.
