Wow! Already close to 114 likes! I wasn't expecting this many likes so quickly. I guess a lot of people really want to see a look inside video of my SB16 Ultra. Is it too late to change the rules? ;) Just kidding!
I currently run four SVS SB-3000 in a small theater room. The four subs add a powerful low end presence that one or two subs up front can't achieve. It's not about sound volume, it's the quality smooth blend for music and movies. I run the front two at 0 Phase and the two rear at 180 Phase. SVS are top notch people to work with. The reason I went with sealed subs was because for music ported subs seem to be a half beat off due to the travel time in the port. The SB-3000 have enough power and room shaking ability if needed, but can be dialed back so the windows don't shake. Excellent review!
Thanks from Norway. Your video helped me make up my mind. I will buy this subwoofer for my stereo music system. From this video, it's obvious that SVS builds serious quality products at friendly prices. The beefy element looked impressive, good power amplifier with app control DSP, nice stiff thick baffled box, good looking outside finish... And people say it sounds great. I believe it will satisfy my needs 👌
I always wanted to hear the SVS products. They look amazing but only your ears can tell. I was impressed with the cabinet build on this one. And this guys customer service experience I feel was top notch. That's important.
The quality is top notch! I currently run 4 SVS SB-3000. 2 in front and 2 next to my listening area. I run the rear two at 180 Phase and the front obviously at 0 Phase. Using the SVS app makes setting up and dialing in four subs a breeze!
I love SVS subs. I have a pair of SB1000 Pros. Excellent performance for the price. A 12 inch cone in a 13 inch box. They fit perfectly in my 2 front corners. Rock on!
I was checking out your McIntosh gear. I'm from New York and I am proud of the excellent gear they make right here in New York. Before covid I went on their factory tour. That was so cool. And they have listening/demo rooms so you can check out their gear and they were so cool about it and let me be hands on playing different cd's and records. Using a 100,000$ system was a dream. I don't know if they are doing factory tours again but you should check it out and see if they do.
Very cool! Thanks for sharing. McIntosh is my favorite brand because of their excellent build quality and attention to detail. And the best part is their stuff sounds so good and is made right here in America.
Forgot to update. Everything worked out great and it is a clear upgrade. The feeling of the subwoofer beating in your chest is fun and this takes it up a notch.
Hi :-) Thanks for a great video! I have an amplifier module from an SVS PC13-Ultra and recently got hold of a speaker unit from an SB-3000. I want to make a woofer and have entered the TS parameters here from your video, for the speaker unit into the design program WinISD. I have calculated that an SB-3000 has a volume of about 44 litres. When I try to design a closed cabinet with 44 liters and the speaker unit with the parameters from your video I do not get the desired result. I get a result that says 50Hz at -3 dB. The specifications for the SB-3000 say 18 Hz +-3dB. Can there be DSP in the amplifier that can compensate for the difference?
Great video of the almighty SB 3000 and makes me appreciate mine even more! I've been jamming a pair for the past year with my KEF LS50 Metas and love the sound 🤘
I’d like to see an RSL Speedwoofer or Monolith subwoofer done in the future. I’d REALLY like to see anything from JL Audio done too. Preferably Fathom V2 or E-Sub but they’re so expensive I wouldn’t expect you to get your hands on one so I’d be happy with even a Dominion. Won’t even talk about the Gotham V2…lol. Also you said guess high so I guess I was a bit too high on the SVS weight.
Thanks for the great suggestions! I have heard good things about the Monolith subs and have always wanted to try one out. I think next year is the year when I pull the trigger on one. I have heard the original JL Fathom F110 and was not impressed at all and thought it was crazy overpriced. Maybe things have changed since the v2?
@@generationbehindhifi I’ve heard some really good things about V2 myself but it’s kind of like an endgame sub for me so I probably won’t be able to touch anything of theirs for a few years at least if ever. I’d like to audition one but I have to drive 100 miles plus to a dealer that has them. So I don’t see that happening.
@@Mike.Macmyazka Just make sure that you purchase from a dealer with an excellent return policy if you do pull the trigger on a JL subwoofer. IMO they are way over hyped or at least they were back then. After walking away so disappointed during the F110 demo, I never had the urge to demo another one and you definitely don't want buyer's remorse when spending that kind of money! Edit: I can't believe JL now wants $4000 for F110 v2 subwoofer. Back when I had my demo they were around $2200! Wow!
You should do a comparison between this and what you can get for $100 more with the RSL 10E. Even if you don’t want to buy one yourself, you can use the in-depth measurements that Audioholics took to make that comparison. Sometimes the “best value” option isn’t always the cheapest option. Especially when saving that last $50-100 means giving up a ton of performance and build quality.

Well I know it’s an odd size sub. 13 inch. So I would assume it has to be at least 35 pounds. I don’t think it looks like it’s too much heavier than that based on motor structure. I guess the question is how thick is the enclosure and how much bracing is there? The amp shouldn’t weigh much.
Sorry! I'm not taking it apart again. Although if I had to guess, it's probably a little over 1 cu feet in volume. You could also plug in the T/S parameters of the driver into WinISD and it will give you the optimal box size depending on what frequency curve you prefer. Hope this helps!
