- Hello and welcome to Basic Fishing from New Zealand. In this video, I decided to do a tutorial video on how to use the running rig also known as the fish finder rig. It is a basic rig and one that many people has used for many years and still use today. In this video, not only do I show on how to make this rig but I also cover the basics on the benefits on using this rig and the obstacles that you may run into. Hope everyone will learn a thing or two in this video and enjoy this tutorial video.

Hi down there,up on your side of the world we use that rig, but we put two bait clip's on it,one at top and one on the bottom. It call the up and over running ledger 👍👍👊
i've used that method before too. i call it the running ledger rig lol although i haven't used it as much as the running rig
Good information mate, thumbs up and tight lines.
Thanks 👍
Nice.😆 mate Cheers.👍 again 💪💪💪
Bloody good.😆 show love it.👍
cheers man
great!! I should try this rig next time!! :D
yea it really makes a huge differences especially wen fishing is hard
Hi mate! I'm enjoying your videos quite a lot, thank you very much. I'm in New Zealand as well. Just bought an Abu Veritas and the shimano 10000 reel you recommend, thanks for that. I'm after a surfcasting mentor, any chance you want to teach me? I'm in auckland as well, and really keen on learning :)
oh thats awesome. hope your sessions will go well. bit held up on work atm but i'm more than happy to provide some extra tips and tricks if you need some
Will the pulley rig be next? I’ll have to give the running rig a try. Thanks for the video tight lines out there
definitely at some point.
Good idea to use the hook remover to help tighten your knots
haha cheers man. its a really handy tool to have.
Very nice video...have you ever considered making your sinker trace the same length as your hook trace?
Yes I have but i prefer the true running to b at the bottom completely
Do you have any tips on reducing tangle when casting this rig?
Hi I'm impressed what bait do you use for Carp fishing in the Waikato?
cheers man bait was worm
When would you use a Strayline vs a Running rig? Cheers
strayline i would use it around the calm, shallowish areas like the rocks or even the wharf if the current is slack and the berley has attracted lot of fish to the area. running rig is with current, deepwater or surfcasting
@@BasicFishingNZ thanks! The videos are really helpful.
Great info friend
Glad you liked it
Pretty informative
Thanks man. maybe you could use the carolina rig for softbaiting
Hey mate do you come to Whanganui and fish?
never been there b4
@@BasicFishingNZ if you do let me know. Keen to show you around 👍
Solid tools way easier than grabbing the nylon or hook to tighten your knot
oh yes and less risky too
What rods are you using bud
ua-cam.com/video/5EiDE3z6ZCU/v-deo.html i cover pretty much all of my rods here so hope this helps
@@BasicFishingNZ thanks bro. Stay safe out there ❤️❤️
how come the fish was lost at the start?
shark lol
You will have better results if you use 40 lb bm fluorocarbon, lose the beads, and snell the kl4/0 hook on.
lighter trace definately makes a differences for sure
This is a good video but the sound quality is not very good :/
