  • Hello and welcome to Basic Fishing from New Zealand. In this video, I decided to do a tutorial video on how to use the running rig also known as the fish finder rig. It is a basic rig and one that many people has used for many years and still use today. In this video, not only do I show on how to make this rig but I also cover the basics on the benefits on using this rig and the obstacles that you may run into. Hope everyone will learn a thing or two in this video and enjoy this tutorial video.

    Hi mate! I'm enjoying your videos quite a lot, thank you very much. I'm in New Zealand as well. Just bought an Abu Veritas and the shimano 10000 reel you recommend, thanks for that. I'm after a surfcasting mentor, any chance you want to teach me? I'm in auckland as well, and really keen on learning :)

    Good idea to use the hook remover to help tighten your knots

    Very nice video...have you ever considered making your sinker trace the same length as your hook trace?

    • @BasicFishingNZ
      @BasicFishingNZ  3 роки тому +1

      Yes I have but i prefer the true running to b at the bottom completely

    When would you use a Strayline vs a Running rig? Cheers

    • @BasicFishingNZ
      @BasicFishingNZ  Рік тому +1

      strayline i would use it around the calm, shallowish areas like the rocks or even the wharf if the current is slack and the berley has attracted lot of fish to the area. running rig is with current, deepwater or surfcasting

    You will have better results if you use 40 lb bm fluorocarbon, lose the beads, and snell the kl4/0 hook on.
