    thank you for keeping this video up after all this time. I have a lot of ugly fabric that is hard to do anything pretty with, now i can make good use of all of it.

      My pleasure! This yarn is the best for using up fabric that you don't want to use for anything else, or the opposite, fabric of your favourite outfit that has seen better day :)

    I'm in the process of cleaning out my sewing area, and this is the perfect way to use up a bunch of scraps. Thank you. I see many future projects coming my way. 😎

    An idea? Just make 2 long strips of fabric twine separately by using a hand drill twist one to the left the other to the right. Then using clamps twist them together with the drill. Just an idea for saving time

    Can you use all different fabrics all in the same twine? For example, I would like to repurpose old stained clothes into baskets, could I use denim, cotton, linen, etc. all in one ball of twine?

    • @handmadehome
      @handmadehome  5 років тому +1

      Hi, yes you can. Just make sure they are roughly the same thickness, I wouldn't try and twist a thick upholstery fabric together with a smooth silk. Cotton, linen and denim etc should all work perfectly fine. Would love to see the baskets that you will make!

    Hi! I'm interested in making the twine, but I'm wondering if t-shirt material or other knits work with this. Thank you!

    • @handmadehome
      @handmadehome  2 роки тому

      For sure! T-shirt material works great in making this twine especially as it doesn't fray

    What fabric is best? Can you mix cotton with organza or silk, etc. Sometimes there are colour bleeding when you wash or is the twine not meant to be washed? Lol
    Also, if you going to make hotpot holder make sure the material don't easily catch fire.

    • @handmadehome
      @handmadehome  3 роки тому +2

      Hi, I would mix fabrics of a similar weight. SO just use organza and silks or just use cottons. You can mix them but your yarn will end up with a slightly irregular thickness. And yes only pure cottons for hotpot holders :D

    Any tips for when the twine starts to untiwst or unravel without having to take out and redo?

    • @handmadehome
      @handmadehome  Рік тому +1

      Hi, sorry for the late reply, if you twist tight enough it shouldn't unravel but in case it does still come loose I would add a few stitches with needle and thread to secure in place. Hope this helps x

    • @handmadehome
      @handmadehome  8 років тому +2

      +Chihuahuaization Amelie Thanks! You can sew it close with a few stitches to keep the twine from unraveling. I used this twine to wrap around a vase and just glued the end bit in place.

    I've a great time making this twine for an arts event with lots of people as part of a community project- thank you ! Just wondering, have you tried making it in to rugs at all? I want to re purpose it for and with the community who have made it, any ideas would be amazing!

    • @handmadehome

      Hi, isn't it a lovely thing to make? And addictive too! You can make coil rugs or basket with the yarn or use it to knit or crochet with. Any pattern that uses a thicker yarn are great for this

    What is the trik? Please, someone do me the great charity to help me? This is not working for me, why is it unraveling? If I loosen it, even if it has been done a lot, the strips of fabric unravel

    • @handmadehome
      @handmadehome  Рік тому +1

      Hi Eva, the key is to work in opposite directions. The top strand needs to be twisted away from you and then brought towards you over the other strand, repeat with the piece that is now on top.
      Hope this helps

    I understand that advertising income is necessary to present educational UA-cam videos, but I was horrified to see a nasty political ad before the video started. The fabric video is excellent, but l hope that advertising video is never played for other interested viewers.

    • @handmadehome
      @handmadehome  4 роки тому

      Hi, I'm so sorry you got a horrible add! Unfortunately the ads are all down to Google adsense and I have no control over them (besides having no ads of course)
      Thanks for understanding I have ads switched on though, as it does help me produce tutorials and content for everyone to watch for free.
