Tony Levin played bass guitar only on the studio recording. Guy Pratt played bass on the concert tour. He incidentally married Gala Wright, daughter of Pink Floyd keyboardist Rick Wright, in 1996.
Guy Pratt on bass here, he is the main bass player Gilmour has used for Pink Floyd tours through the years. Also original PF member Nick Mason on drums.
It's about not turning away from those in need, all around us. "Just a world that we all must share, not enough just to stand and stare." A beautiful song. Guy Pratt on bass.
The live shows have a different lineup of musicians: Jon Carin (Keyboards, Vocals), Tim Renwick (Guitars, Vocals), Guy Pratt (Bass, Vocals), Gary Wallis (Percussion), Scott Page (Saxophones, Guitar), Margret Taylor (Backing Vocals), Rachel Fury (Backing Vocals) and Durga McBroom (Backing Vocals).
This is one of my favorite Pink Floyd live performances! I just love the vocals and instrumentals on this! David Gilmour's solo is one of my favorites, even better than the studio version, in my opinion. The bass player in this video is Guy Pratt, who has toured with Pink Floyd and David Gilmour solo since 1987. (He has also toured with Pink Floyd's drummer Nick Mason's band, Saucerful of Secrets' and is currently touring with David Gilmour as he promotes his new solo album, 'Luck & Strange').
There is a fan video called "The Invisibles" that compliments this tune....It is about the plight of the homeless and the way they are overlooked in society....ua-cam.com/video/RAogHx7Sl8k/v-deo.html
That is Guy Pratt on the bass. Did a lot of work for pink floyd live after Roger left the band. He currently plays with Nick Mason with saucer full of secrets. An homage to early pink folyd material
First big album without Roger Waters, who tried to finish Pink Floyd in 1983 (followed by some lawsuits). Suggestion from this album: "Sorrow" (1987), live version from "Pulse" (1994) concert.
I don't know if you have heard any Colonel Les Claypool and the Fabulous Flying Frog Brigade but there are several pink floyd covers that you would likely enjoy, like have a cigar (with that claypool bass)
I'm 71 years old and I only listen to Pink Floyd and nothing else! The rest is only music. 50 years ago Pink Floyd were already 200 years ahead of everybody!
Yes, well Roger became increasingly overbearing and dictatorial during The Wall, and firing Richard was one of his megalomanicial acts. There was a synergy of brilliant music and lyrics with Water's lyrical genius prior to the split. But most of the "music" or musicality arose from Gilmour and Wright as evidenced by their works after Roger left. Sadly Richard passed in 2008, but David is going strong and has a new album out last month, which in his words is the best work he'd done since Dark Side of the Moon. And he's on tour right now with the new album and old Floyd tunes. Pretty damn good for being 78 years young! David's wife Polly who is a successful novelist, has written later Pink Floyd and David's solo lyrics since after this album. David usually will not comment on Roger or the split, or The Wall when asked. Until recently when Roger attacked Polly and her lyrics, then David let loose somewhat. David's new album is most worth a listen, and in the "making of" video he explains his evolution "Well you know I started off in a pop group, and I found myself in a position of leading that group - not ever a position I was hoping for, or looking forward to - being a solo artist - not what I really asked for, I've always preferred being a part of something - and this album feels closer to that than anything I've had in all these years" His quote is near the end of this video: ua-cam.com/video/EckHimWp9NI/v-deo.html ( David Gilmour - The Making of Luck and Strange )

Love Floyd, best band in the world for me
Guy Pratt on bass here, he is the main bass player Gilmour has used for Pink Floyd tours through the years. Also original PF member Nick Mason on drums.
Also Rick Wright

I love this song. Definitely among their best.

Love love love Pink Floyd... More please..

David does more with fewer notes than Slash and Eddie combined. ✌️
No silly love songs from Pink Floyd. Just lyrically deep musically magnificent tunes.
The great and unique DELICATE SOUND OF THUNDER.

not a better video of any song i have seen. A video that actually is about the song, ****************************************

You should always be watching Pink Floyd live first.
Glad you are listen to one the best gruop it nice to know young want to listen to good music
Seen them 3 times back in the day, late 70’a early 80’s, incredible 😎
I don't believe that they missed Roger Waters one little bit !!
Never ever stop a solo or you brake a rule
The keyboard at the beginning is a Roland JX-10, one of the last of the analog synths.
Another great song from this amazing Delicate Sound Of Thunder concert film is The Dogs Of War. I hope you can get to it soon.
If it were Tony Levin, you would recognize him! 🤣 I have the feeling, his look didn't change as much as e.g. David Gilmour...
Guy Pratt on bass here.
So many great songs from different time periods. Do you like The Division Bell? High Hopes is an amazing song and beautiful video. So sad.
John, Dude! It's sacrilegious to pause a David Gilmour Solo!! Had to take my "Like" back, plan better'

Suggestion from this album: "Sorrow" (1987), live version from "Pulse" (1994) concert.
For a long Gilmour solo, there's only one choice: "Comfortably Numb" (1979), same concert "Pulse" (1994).
I don't know if you have heard any Colonel Les Claypool and the Fabulous Flying Frog Brigade but there are several pink floyd covers that you would likely enjoy, like have a cigar (with that claypool bass)

I still listen today age 64
Like your reacton to good uk music
You need to do Shine On You Crazy Diamond, studio version
"OtTA" is a musical prod, or wake-up slap, to society's collective conscience about how many times the "turn away" has been done.
I see these 14 or more live
Dogs of war next ma man
Waters is FAR Right as well. Major friction.
please don't pause during Gilmore's solos!

Waters has a lot of issues.
David Gilmore doesn't waste any notes... They all mean something.
GILMOUR please 😉
