    Luis what is a rate matrix? Is it published?

      Can be published or not. We make our own rate matrix’s that take all of our loads and calculates averages into and out of certain regions.
      A public rate matrix is like the one provided by the loadboards to calculate average rates

    Im working on getting my mc so if you say wait 6 months to a year what are you doing in thst time frame? Contacting potential shippers and carriers etc to line them up for future?

    • @freightskills
      @freightskills  Рік тому +1

      You can start right away I just say it will be easier if your mc has age on it. You need that in place before calling anyone.
      I have students starting from scratch who make it work.

    So as a broker you start at 10%?

    • @freightskills
      @freightskills  Рік тому

      I would start at 20 and work down to 10 as a minimum. 10 is even getting to be a little low and hard to sustain

    Bro your example of $1500 load for $1200 is literally 25%. I am on both sides but that margin is normal.

      You took a video about a macro-issue about how both carriers and brokers need to understand their numbers and proceeded to point out a micro point that I used as an example. Is this supposed to open up a productive conversation or are you just making a statement to try and prove me incorrect about something because you are incapable of comprehending the point of this video?
      Also if you are going to use the word literally use it right. $1200 on $1500 rev is literally 20%

    Mannnn! You must have seen my post of Facebook lol.
    “I’m a carrier, why don’t other carriers just have their dispatcher or themselves get direct freight and don’t relying on brokers??
    As carriers, we have to accept responsibility. The problem is we should not be accepting cheap freight if we know that amount is not enough for our expenses.
    Let’s literally use common sense in the process.
    Example 1:
    Carrier $1000
    Broker $500
    Shipper $1500
    Now let’s remove the broker out of the equation, because you can’t honestly think the shipper won’t figure it out and will continue to pay us the difference.
    Example 2:
    Carrier $1000
    Shipper $1000
    This is why it’s a real man law and true business practice is not to count another man pocket/money.
    We have to stop crying about another business operation that we don’t do. I run a trucking company so I will continue to focus on that. I come across many shippers who only use carriers.
    Again, if there no brokers us carriers would have to contact the shippers anyway. Start doing that now and stop the complaining.
    Then let’s be real honest, many of us be so mean to each let alone be a sales person and know how to call a professional establishment to gain their business.”

      Nailed it! The real truth was too controversial in the video but shippers who work with brokers HATE dealing with truckers. They hate chasing paperwork. Hate not getting their calls answered and so much more. So that “extra money” isn’t even on the table for a carrier. Everyone has to run their own business and stick to their strengths.
      Thanks for your comment
