Casio's luring of Rich Formidoni away from Korg 2 years ago was a stroke of genius. This guy is one of the best, if not the best, product presenters/demonstrators in the industry. I met him at Sweetwater's Gear Fest last summer. He told me Casio's plans to upgrade their product line and compete with the big hitters helped persuade him to make the move way from Korg. Casio's gain is Korg's loss. And he's a nice guy, too!
Tell Casio to keep their prices low. Korg, Yamaha, others, are way too expensive for a chunk of plastic. The rhythm programmers need improvement. Not groovy enough. That is the only flaw in this fantastic keyboard. EK-50 and PSR 463 can't compete with the pure sound of the CT-X 700/800, and at much higher prices ! Thanks a lot Casio.

When I stopped by the booth and asked the 2 Casio reps when they were re-releasing another Phase Distortion synth, they just laughed. What's up with that? The best synth Casio ever did (the CZ series) and NO plans to exploit that "80s synth nostalgia". Too bad.
More and more I think something legal is stopping them from releasing a hardware PD synth (software is already available from Casio). They must know how much demand there has been for them yet nothing ever happens.
Yeah, a lot of the big Japanese companies (Casio, Yamaha, and even Roland a bit) just seem weirdly cautious to cash in on using older, popular ideas from their past catalog of products. It seems to be working for Korg though...so much so that they even re-borrowed someone else's old idea (the ARP Odyssey). And Behringer is getting ready to fill that void as well.
