He is a Grammy Award winner as a principal soloist on Hamilton’s Original Broadway Cast Recording, which won the 2015 award for Best Musical Theater Album.
Odom, Jr. made his Broadway debut at the age of 17 in “Rent” before heading to Carnegie Mellon University’s prestigious School of Drama, where he graduated with honors. He is the recipient of a 2002 Princess Grace Award for Acting, which is dedicated to identifying emerging talent in theater, dance and film.
Additional theatre credits include “Leap of Faith” on Broadway, for which he won the 2012 Astaire Award for Outstanding Male Dancer on Broadway and was nominated for a Drama League Award; the 2014 musical “Venice,” which also played at The Public Theater; and the Encores! Off Center production of “Tick, Tick... Boom!” which was his first time working with “Hamilton” creator, Lin-Manuel Miranda.
    -----
When Leslie started, his only dream was to be in Rent. When he made it, he was left to find a new dream. He struggled for a long time not finding any work. One day his eyes were opened by a mentor as to what he was doing wrong. He wasn’t respecting his industry.
He had to show the universe what he wanted. He started taking beginner acting classes, and really researching every brand, role, producer, writer, etc before going out for an audition. The moment he made this mind shift, the universe responded and he was booked non stop for six years.
    Amazing.
You really need to learn from his wisdom on this one.So, learn how to combat your fear of failure, mentally prepare for huge opportunity, and how to be an advocate for yourself, on Episode 677.

"The phone didn't ring today. What did you do today in the absence of a ringing phone?" Bruh... This is so powerful. If you can just grab it, and let it change you. So, so powerful.

I own a start-up, some days are rough (like today)...I respect what LOJ is saying because I can relate to the harshness of trying to make it. I call it the wilderness. However, I do realize there is glory in fighting these battles. I'm currently embracing the process and this is great motivation. Ironically, I'm not familliar with Mr. LOJ, so this is TRULY inspiring because i have no bias. Good interview.

Donte McBride that “wilderness” is great line. It’s not easy. I’m trying to hold strong in my own business after quitting my job to pursue my dreams

      @SledgeScarves 6 років тому +2

Donte McBride we are all striving and working towards our goals but as y'all see we can't let the failures hold us back. Use them as lessons and do better nxt time since you will have then known better. Even if it's one step, that's one step further then we were before the failure. It may be a wilderness but theres a pack of us wolves out here that KNO the struggle. Keep pushing guys! It will pay off!💁💪

Lewis Howes I think it would have to be when Leslie talked about lighting up and showing up for people at 100 percent all the time. I have to make a lot of phone calls as I am growing my concert ministry and sometimes after the umpteenth call you lose a little steam and that fire goes out. But if you can watch things like this that inspire you on a regular basis and take action, as Leslie suggests, the work will come. Don't get discouraged or focus on the no's. Because the person behind that one that said no just might be your yes. Thank you for always sharing your positivity. I watched your new FB live show. I believe in you and your mission and wish great success and abundance for you and the lives you inspire every day. Love your content and look forward to it every week.

    Some of My 💎’s
You’ve got to get out of your own way
If you want something you’ve got to bring the full force energy of your personality and self belief and “come rushing in the door”
You know the truth by how it feels
If you take one step, the universe will take two more for you
When you make a decision the universe will test your resolve and commitment to it

Thank you so much for this. His lesson on getting out your own way and bringing your whole self and believing that although one person didn't hire you, that you'll get hired by someone else really struck home. This interview couldn't have been timed any better for me since it's just the lesson I needed to hear.

I didn't wanna be cliché and say this, but 25:10 - 26:25 really feels to me like a comparison of Hammy and Burr. Think about it.
