Here in Florida you find them mostly on oaks. Many are G. sessile(might be spelled wrong) but there's another that has a stem like those. Know we don't have true lucidum here but something that looks just like it.
Yes . G. Curtsii and sessile . I've hoped to find G.Curtsii and have not . I have found G.Sessile in Indiana , Ohio, and Kentucky. It is a striking mushroom. I did use it once to expiriment with taste and medicinal uses. It's odor was much like turpentine
No way, you keep doing it! Have many other medicinal mushrooms around but I hope to one day find a reishi. Have you ever heard that cutting mushrooms free and leaving a bit of stem to rot actually ruins more mycelium than just pulling them out first? Can't find info on this.
I found a video that compiled several well known micologists who say it doesn't matter and this is an age old mild debate. Now I have a reason to buy a cool mushroom blade.@@FoundYouForaging
Beautiful area of Michigan is this up north? Great information as always. I am way behind on your videos. Trying to catch up

I know just the person to ask for validation and reference. I wouldn't think it to be accurate. Reishi is grown commercially.

How do you use this mushroom?
After dehydration it can be steeped as a tea for immune builder or a double extract for anti tumor qualities
