I worked as a volunteer at Castlefest and had the honor of seeing this experience live. And indeed it is not a concert but an experience. Keep in mind that this was their first live concert ever. Saw them again 2 months ago and they again were overwhelming, with sound, visuals and also fragrances. Absolute must see
As a 'scent person', could you explain the 'fragrances' part, please? You mean in regard to incense used in rituals?
@@pami333 indeed during the rituals you can smell fragrances.
I was sooo happy i have seen them in Munich 2019, it was AMAZING i went out uplifted, at peace, massaged, and just ... healed :D
First time, 5Nov23 in Denver
Bought ticket three montha ago
"This does not feel as peaceful as the Anoana track. This feels like a WAR CHANT".
That's it ! That's exactly the meaning of KRIGSGALDER : War Chant.
It means "War Magic"
@@voiceover2191 lol
it means ''War Sorcery''
I honestly would recommend to just watch the whole castlefest recording in one go, its beautiful
"It sounds like a war chant"
LOL that is literally the name of the song! Krigsgaldr translates directly to "war chant" or "war cry"
This concert, Lifa, at Castlefest was their performance debut. Beyond epic. If you get a chance to attend a Heilung ritual, do not hesitate. It stays with you forever. 😎
The worship of the natural world is probably more honest than most organised religions.... it's spiritual, it doesn't control. This music is so primal, you can imagine the ancient peoples of northern europe. It's very beautiful.
Maria Franz is an incredible singer. She's been in several different projects and they're all worth checking out. For Heilung - In Maidjan - Live version.
Yes, In Maidjan, please live at Castlefest 2017.
This.
It's interesting that you said about spirituality. I think there's a video on their channel about how the band formed and for one of the members he was disillusioned by religion and trying to find his place in the world. I may be wrong but I think it's the fellow who does the throat singing style. Some other songs by them to check out; Traust, Hakkerskaldyr, Norupo, Svarand.
Heilung (German)....Healing......Krigsgaldr ..... Spiritual War Chants.....This LIFA Live Show was their FIRST Live Show ever !!!!.....Band Members are from Germany/Denmark and Norway.....LONG before the Vikings !....Maria Franz plays HUMAN Bones !....Faust,the Lead Singer,is also one of the Worlds Best TRIBAL TATTOO Artists!
If your a fan of Maria Franz's (the female singer) vocals you NEED to hear In Maidjan from the same concert. She has a mich bigger part in that song, she sounds increadible in it.
I’m on the exact same level when it comes to spiritual beliefs… I was raised Baptist, not a good experience for me. I then studied Wicca, Buddhism & under some native elders. Nothing has ever connected to my soul like Heilung… I can’t explain why, I do know that after watching their ceremony live I have never felt so unconnected with the earthly things like politics, religions or anything from the negativity humans like to surround themselves with… yet more of a feeling of peace & brotherhood. I’m so thankful I have found them ♥️
I like so much you reaction. Your reaction is like Heilung: authentic. Heilung was for me a true revelation and I'm stick to their music since I discover them! They are pure genious and also they create and true earth music and ancestral song with a modern melodic style. The music, the choice of instruments and the concept reflect their personal approach to honor their ancestors with respect.
What you said about your stance on spirituality is the same as mine. For some reason this version speaks to me. On a primal level. Loved the reaction 🖤
If you enjoyed Anoana and Krigsgaldr, you need to check out Heilung - “Norupo”. Another must watch is Wardruna and Aurora - “Helvegen”.
And yes, Heilung does preform in the US. They refer to their performances as rituals.
Beautiful reaction, Heilung are one of my favourite Scandinavian bands. you seemed to mirror everything i did when i first heard them from some random recommend via you tube, they truly are incredible, i bought 3 of their albums just after i heard this one piece.
Their music on the audio only doesn't bring justice to their live performances. Really. I had the honour to see them live last year and I will never be the same!
@@Dave-hb7lx Oh, interrsting. I actually prefer the studio record more for Traust than the live concert version, because the subtleties got lost for me live. Might have been the venue and the sound techs, sure, but how Traust plays from one ear to the other and utilises echo makes it (to me) better as a studio album 😀
I think people are rightfully scared of bringing certain topics into their channels especially those with nothing to do with said topics, but I think when it is applicable and approached as you have it is perfectly acceptable and promotes a much more healthy tone when tapping into those topics as necessary. Appreciate your awareness on that and sharing your personal experience in relation to the reactions. Anyone squealing about it is just that, a squealer - incapable of perceiving alternative avenues of thought regardless of gain or loss to the information
Not nessarily the new, sometimes the old is "scary"
In Maidjan or Othan from the LIFA live at Castlefest concerts if you really want to hear the live vocal qualities of Maria.
Alfadhirhaiti
Hamrer hippyer
Both from LIFA.
Heilung is Bronze an Iron Age metal.
Those were real human forearm bones she used.
Excellent reaction! Other great music to check out, Wardruna, Skald, Hindarfjall, Folket Bortafor Nordavinden, Amon Amarth. Norse beliefs aren't a religion, it's a way of life that is greatly expressed through music, Welcome to the beginning of a wonderful journey. Also Heilung IN MAiJAN
Thanks for the Heilung reaction.
Yes you absolutely need too see them live. My wife and I have gone to two of their shows and it is incredible. They do indeed tour the US but no dates for a new tour are announced yet so we gotta wait on that. For Heilung I reccommend Tenet, Asja, and Nesso.
So from what I understand of this song, its a story about a village that is corrupted to war. That's why Kai's part was essentially saying "We dont want to fight but you are forcing our hands"
They have announced US tour dates. I bought my tix already 😊
Ancient, tribal, primal, magical. Mesmerizing.❤️ love this.
Also the line "Lullaby of oblitaration" is so good
Heilung is on US+CA Tour end of August and through September this year. Lucky you :)
A Krigsgaldr is a "War Chant" or "War Magic"
The English bit with the throat singing by Kai (the Shaman) is the true "galdr" bit. In the past these segments would be sung / chanted with that throaty voice to immitate a raven.
The lyrics to Maria's segment are:
Min Warb Naseu
Wilr Made Thaim
I Bormotha Hauni
Hu War
Hu War Opkam Har a Hit Lot
Got Nafiskr Orf
Auim Suimade
Foki Afa Galande
Translation:
The household wanes,
Vil threw a death wave over those
the oar locks wore out for, with the tired mast-top
Who brought...
Who brought the horde over to the far country?
The godly-fish from Firnøy’s streams
Swimming in the drift
of the land of shining meadows.
In the context of the Lifa concert - all the songs go together telling the story of a peaceful tribe that was tricked into going to war with another tribe. That is why she asks, "who brings the invading horde here?"
The most important song to hear from this set is In Maidjan - which means "to change deceitfully" or "to corrupt". That song features an important chant that includes all the Futhark runes and is one of the best examples of Maria's singing.
After that, listen to "Alfadhirhaiti" from the same set. After that, you will be ready to invade your neighborhood.
"this doesn't feel as much like a war chant anymore" .... (everyone - wait for it...)
You can combine two of the channel’s mainstays in one go: Aurora and Norse folk!
Wardruna had her on guest vocals for their song ‘Helvegen’. It’s a great live performance of a beautiful song.
Yes I think this is a good one. And after that: Wardruna music video lyfjaberg (healing-mountain)
Also highly recommend to pull up translated lyrics for the song, as it really adds a lot of depth to understand the words.
It’s ritual norske music, it brings you into a trance. I’ve been in the audience and you just go quiet and feel this mesmerizing feelings
"Remember, that we all are brothers
All people
And beasts and trees
And stone and wind
We all descend from the one great being
That was always there
Before people lived and named it
Before the first seed sprouted"
Hello! I am a newcomer to your channel! I had the privilege of seeing them in 2022 and I can honestly say it is a deeply touching and spiritual experience. Totally life changing for sure. I see that you've only done 2 of their songs on reaction. If you haven't heard or watching it, I HIGHLY recommend "In Maidjan" PLEASE! You will not regret it. Peace and Blessings.
Im right there with you on -needing- to see this group in concert... upside, i have learned today that they will be doing shows in the states this oct going into nov.
I understand the feeling you're getting from this, it's speaking to the ancestral dna in us, funny how the feeling is understandable but it really can't be put into words, it's touching something ancient in the body
HEILUNG is absolutely EPIC!🥰
Greets from the Middle of Germany 😊
I always wonder why everyone insists on the live version. Krigsgaldr is one of the few Heilung-songs with it's own music video that describes the story behind the take Heilung takes on the rune-inscription from the Eggja-stone. Additionally, the studio performance is even better than on the live version, where the rap-section is a little off, and the audience attributes to the overall sound-experience with their ...eccentric vocal contributions... ua-cam.com/video/K7ZqZVunCb4/v-deo.html
Well, it's a war song 😁. I understood this song watching the official video and it made me sense because all our countries were built over the blood and the cries of ancient civilizations.
I love this LIFA album because I like watching how they produce all the sounds in their songs with so many layers.
Heilung, Wardruna, and many other bands like them are able to connect us with our roots that are common to all beings over and under the earth. I love them.
By the way, I'm from Chile and I also feel that ancient common call when I listen to Heilung.
For the same show watch Alfadhirhaiti , Hamrer hippyer, In Maidjan.
If you like Mari'a voice, here there is another beautiful song by her: Songleikr | Ulvetime (Hour of the Wolf) ua-cam.com/video/FF9mtpw365c/v-deo.html
Greetings.
You MUST react to In Maidjan from this same performance and album. Maria has an amazing, soul lifting solo in that one. The whole performance is legendary.
You will have to wait until 2024 i think... maybe fall 2023 but still no US date for the new album tour. But they already came, and they did an epic gig along with Native Americans Tribes!
I saw them here in France in december and that was absolutely incredible.
Recreated the first drop! 😂😂😂 Regarding spirituality, you said you are a quarter cherokee and I reckon the other three quarters of you is viking just looking at your beard. It's no surprise that your natural state might be pagan. 😁😁😁
Love this !!! Thank you.
YES Heilung tours! They just did a USA tour. You can go to Heilung's website and youtube channel to find tour dates. In person, not only do you feel the energy of the room but you feel the beat of the drums through your WHOLE BODY! Heilung is an EXPERIENCE not just a concert show!
Lifa in general is amazing. In Maidjan has Maria's beautiful part that sounds like an angel singing. Fylgija Ear has become one of my favorites from Lifa. Alfadhirhaiti has amazing energy and I love Kai's ritual he does while Maria sings with he beautiful voice. Another not from Lifa is Tenet a nice one to zone out to.
Hi, I didn't know this song and this group yet. That's very unusual - but very interesting. The song lives from the rhythm and the great voices. Visually, too, this is a successful performance.
I can recommend you the following similar unusual songs:
- Wardruna and Aurora - Helvegen (Live) -ua-cam.com/video/FnkTuHP9q3o/v-deo.html
"Helvegen" is about death, dying and remembering those who have passed. About crossing over and about letting go. It is a song about searching for lost songs and old traditions.
Lyrics from the video explanation:
The Way to Hel
I sought the songs
I sent the songs
when the deepest well
offered drops so mighty
of Valfather’s pledge
I know it all, Odin
where you hid your eye
Who will sing me
in the death-sleep sling me
when I walk the road to Hel
and the tracks I tread
are cold, so cold
Early or in fading day
still the raven knows if I fall
When you stand by the gate of Hel
and when you must tear loose
follow you I shall
across the bridge of Gjöll with my song
You become free from the bonds that bind you
You are free from the bonds that bound you

- FAUN - Walpurgisnacht (Official Video) - ua-cam.com/video/nLgM1QJ3S_I/v-deo.html
Walpurgis Night is the night from April 30th to May 1st. I would like to explain a few things about it. So it's going to be a little longer - but I hope it helps with understanding.
Not only Walpurgis Night is celebrated today. The modern form is the "dance into May". May 1st is a public holiday in Germany - the "Labor Day".
"The roots of the Walpurgis celebration go back to pre-Christian times and Germanic origins. On this day, these "natives" of the Harz Mountains celebrated a spring festival accompanied by various sacrifices as joy at the end of winter and the marriage of the supreme Germanic god Wotan. Evil spirits were also expelled, which was to be done by disguises with masks, shots and fire. However, it is unclear whether the ancestors also held these rituals on the Brocken - the legendary center of Walpurgis activities.
...
Walpurgis Night is always celebrated on the eve of the feast day of St. Walburga, a learned woman and abbess of a nunnery whose life had nothing to do with witches and the devil. Only her canonization by Pope Hadrian II on May 1st established the connection to today's Walpurgis Night, because through numerous miracles, which are attributed to Walburga, she is also considered the patron saint of seafaring and against evil spirits." (source - www.harzlife.de/event/walpurgis-info.html)
One instrument is the hurdy-gurdy, a bowed instrument (particularly used in the Middle Ages) whose strings are bowed by a disc wheel above the bridge. The one with the crank.
The other instrument is a nyckelharpa. The one with the strings being pricked. Forerunners of the modern nyckelharpa have existed since the Middle Ages. Evidence of the existence of such instruments is mainly found in Sweden, but also in Denmark, Germany, Austria and Italy. There are a variety of forms of the nyckelharpa. A modern chromatic nyckelharpa has four playing strings. Depending on the design of the keyboard, a different number (usually three or all four) of the playing strings can be shortened with tangents and thus the pitch can be changed. Strings without a keyboard row are often used as drones. In addition, there are usually twelve sympathetic strings or sympathetic strings. These sympathetic strings lie below the melody strings and are not bowed with the bow, but stimulated to resonate by the tones played and their overtones. The sympathetic strings create the impression of a hall effect. When the first nyckelharpor were equipped with sympathetic strings is unclear. (Wikipedia)
I heard a nyckelharpa live in Sweden. That's incredible. You can't really hear that in this video. A "violin" is played and it sounds like a whole string orchestra is playing.
Lyrics: (Google search and Goggle translator:)
Soar into the evening sky
Tonight the magicians
Wild folk and Lilith's kind
Lurking winds secretly ride
Let's roam to the fires
Reach for the stars
Good word and bad word
Let's carry it on and on today
In the willows our dreams will ring
And the winds will sing our songs
Let's jump over the fire with the sparks
On Walpurgis Night!
Hear the violins, hear the violins
(hey yo)
The fires are lit!
(hey yo)
Follow the dance, follow the dance
On Walpurgis Night
Impetuous in playing the violins
Turns our nightly round dance
And we kick wild and free
This old magic at
Once only in a large circle
Let's dance that way
Until the first morning light
Our dream fabric breaks
In the willows our dreams will ring
And the winds will sing our songs
Let's jump over the fire with the sparks
On Walpurgis Night!
Hear the violins, hear the violins
(hey yo)
The fires are lit!
(hey yo)
Follow the dance, follow the dance
On Walpurgis Night
Hear the violins, hear the violins
(hey yo)
The fires are lit!
(hey yo)
Follow the dance, follow the dance
On Walpurgis Night

Thank you very much and
Greetings from Germany
i totally agree, please do those two songs next! Youd absolutely love Warduna! Greetings from Switzerland 😃
Hey my Guy, found your channel thanks to the Ren reactions and when I saw you liked Heilung and Beastie Boys I knew you were my people. You should also check out Otyken - My wing (remake) and also Akala's Fire in The Booth, all of them. Also as a wild card Mapei's Don't wait. Which never fails to make me smile 😊
I just saw them last night, at Baltimore in the Hippodrome. Sold out show, and it was AMAZING!!
I saw them in October last year 2022 in Seattle and it was freaking awesome. I was on an emotional high for several days afterward. I'm also a huge fan of Wardruna.
We saw them in Pittsburg last August. They will be back in the States.
Saw them in NYC and Red Rocks in CO and blew me away both times.
My heart feels so full when I listen to this music!
Don't worry Panda...
Heilung is kind of Metal before there was Metal =)
Heilung is touring the US soon. I just bought tickets for their Clearwater FL show in October.
The name "Krigsgaldr" means "war song" in the broadest sense (krig = war). However, "galdr" (or galster) is a magic song or a magic spell from common Germanic *galdra magic song, song. To conjure up with a magic spell is bigalan in Old High German. The main background of the prefix German * -gal is the bird song, which means that the Germanic tribes originally derived magic spells or song from the bird calls, such as the generic name of "Nacht-i-gal(l)" (nightingale) in today's High German still recognizable.
Examples of this are the second Merseburg spell and the Old English blessing of nine herbs, in which Wodan/Odin appears as a healer or as a magician. In Norse mythology, in the Liederedda (poetic edda), the galster is also attributed to the god Odin, who is also named galdrs fǫður, father of the galster, in the Vegtamskviða (Baldrs draumar), for example.
Glad you checked it out, and my prediction was that you won´t be disappointed. I had the chance to see them live in Munich last December. A unique experience i will never forget.
You definitely should check out their songs In maidjan and Othan, from the same concert.
Saw them live earlier this year. Quite the experience!
If you haven't heard the tracks yet, you should absolutely also listen to their "Alfadhirhaiti" and "Anoana"
i hope you do more Heilung reactions
We're loving in a world that feels more and more like a giant factory. Stuff like this pierces this feeling and returns us to ourselves. It's not the same religion that tells us what to do and enforces rigid rules, but something else altogether.
You might enjoy some of Munknor. They made a song, Deyja, which has a lovely video portraying this.
I got to see these guys live this past September and it was one of the most incredible experiences ever. All of their music is amazing and live performances of them are definitely the way to go for reacting.
the Sami people from norway also use throat singing and i think that is where they took it from
Had the pleasure of seeing this amazing group live twice, once at the Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colorado and again in my home state of Massachusetts this past year, and I can say they are life changing experiences. Definitely a must-see!
Highly recommend the live version of Alfadhirhaiti!
Germanic or Nordic paganism sounds like something that could definitely be worth while for you to explore
I would recommend the song "In Maidjan" from the same concert.
Wonderful reaction! I saw them live last year in the US and it was one of the most spiritually amazing concerts I have seen.
And yes! Wardruna! Helvegen, Lyfjaberg, Solringen, Fehu, Kitravn
The shift between the language shows how war changes people during and after the confect the way I see it. Its about PTSD or shell shock
This stuff is primal, brother. I'm an old metalhead but this shit does it! In Maidjan got me and now I love it all. Primal. I don't think there's anyone that this won't resonate with. Pretty sure primal music could bring us all together...that and F'n Slayer!!!
They have done at least 2 tours in the USA, as far as I know and very popular. Last tour in USA and Canada was 2022, late August to early October - 16 venues.

Their 2022 US tour hit several cities so you should be able to see them without going to another country.
It's spiritual Music - in the Tradition of Scandinavian and Siberian Shamans. It's more a Ritual than a Concert ... ;)
They DO tour. I've seen them live twice, once in the U.S. Both were awesome performances. Neither was the same. They are the most interesting musical act I've seen in 40 years.
Hey Panda, know I’m commenting late but, since you’re interested in this kinda thing might I suggest the Dan Carlin’s Hardcore History episodes “Thor’s Angels” and “Twilight of the Aesir” that detail the Christianization of Western Europe all the way to the rise and fall of the Viking era.
This is one of the great songs of all time.
Great reaction video. Sometimes it's just nice to see someone else get sucked in with you even if the commentary is sparse at times. It adds to the honesty of the reaction.
I can't seem to find your other Heilung reaction. Is it unlisted?
It got blocked unfortunately, but it's on my Patreon free of charge.
Great reaction 😊
Ok this is gonna be a long one...
Ive just spent the last 2 days going down a rabbit hole of watching 'Hi Ren' reactions and came across yours. Subbed straight away.
So, I've been looking through your content and have a few recommendations I think you'd like.
First off, you said you liked Nightwish, Have you heard of Jinjer? If not, try 'Jinjer- Vortex'
I'd also say, if you like folk metal... try 'Bloodywood- Dana Dan'
As for Heilung, ALL their songs are great and Id say watch em all but I'd add 'Wardruna' to that list too.
Love your breakdowns/analysis so keep up the great work.
Guess that wasn't as long as I thought. 😕
By the Way, beautiful Reaction Vid!👍✌
Svanrand and In Maidjan(Lifa) are also ones to check out!!
5Nov23, Denver mate! Already bought ticket three months ago
God bless.
Yeah brother, you get it.
There’s something more than music here isn’t it?
We just saw them live in Melbourne last weekend and … oh my … you have to see them live mate.
Also, have a listen to Hamrer Hippyer - that’ll get the blood pumping!
I hear my ancestors calling.
You're very clever the drum beat and music at the start of the song does give you a sense of unease a sense of something violent and intense to come but this song is literally a call to war. That is literally what the word Krigsgaldr means, The Call To War.
Thanks so much for the info! Some of my favorite things to listen to are film scores. It's probably left over from the years of playing in a classical band. When you dive into music theory, you find similarities in how different composers give the same feelings through music, hence why you hear the common sentiment that music is the universal language.
Ive seen Nightwish live 3 times and Heiling live once. They do tour in the US. Unfortunately if Nightwish does tour the US again they wont have Marco with them anymorw which makes me sad.
With that religion thing i feel ya :) the best thing to do is to belive in yourself that will do!
Please check out the "Helvegen" Track from Aurora/Wardruna...also just awesome!🥰
Greets from the Middle of Germany
Well Krigsgaldr does translates to Warmagic if i am not wrong so i get why you say it sounds like a war chant... if you wanna hear a berserker ritual check Alfadhirhaiti live from the same show as krigsgaldr.
This song tells the story of a small Norse Pagan village that is attacked by people coming from the sea. From the lyrics you come to understand that these people want to convert them from their ways of life and their beliefs. They could be Christians. In Northern Europe when Christianity was introduced, and Christians decided to spread it to the far North they came to the Pagans and told them convert or die. And in many villages the Norse Pagan's were literally genosided by the Christian invaders. The people of this village say they want peace, and just to be left alone to coexist with these invaders. They say that they don't agree with the path they choose to follow, and that they believe it will lead to their downfall. But these invaders will not listen , they only understand the language of the sword [violence]. So these Pagan's promise them there will be no coexistence only genoside from which so much blood will flow that it will make the flames of the sun look like dying embers.
It's your Norse genes speaking to you, don't beleve, just follow your instinct and trust the spirits....
I was very surprised by your comment about politics, religion and spirituality. I didn't see this coming at all.
Without getting too political myself I will just say this: Desert deities are not for us - and you are not the only one who knows this on a deep level.
Welcome to The Tribe.
In Maidjan -= Live, same concert.
Really recommend Heilungs:
Alfadhirhaiti (Lifa Live)
Tenet
Norupo
Asja
Hamrer Hippyer (Lifa Live)
Svanrand
They do tour in America and hire men to be on stage as Vikings
yes wardruna is also well worth a listen
Hell yeah brother mcfarland racing shirt
I was raised Christian but always found it hard to get on board with. In the past few years , I've been doing a lot of research on Nordic paganism and it really resonates with me. Look into your ancestral background and research their pre-Christian beliefs. Also, if you like this you need to check out Helvegen by Wardruna with Aurora
you should react to In majan from the same concert great throat singing and her voice leads you somewhere else. one thing. this is not something they made up their lyrics come from ancient texts and poems and the female singer headgear is an almost exact copy of one found in an archeological dig in Sweden and it belonged to a female shaman or seer which is the role Maria Franz has on stage. the shamans on stage are the ones with horns Maria who is from Norway and Kai who is from Germany. and yes they just toured in the USA I think the tour american leg is over but you can check. another great video you can react to is Narupo great song and great visuals.
It's ok. same thing happens to me and I've listened to them for 4yrs now. Is your body shakey at a low vibration. It's your DNA awakening to your ancestory. Your ancestors calling you. They live and they live through you and your blood. Cry if you must on or off camera, but release and let the healing begin...afterall Heilung means healing. Whats your connection to nature like?
In my other Heilung reaction, I speak on my different connections. But as an avid outdoorsman, nature is my happy place.
I do think they are touring just not sure where.. i saw tey posted something about touring, cant remember where.
Try In Maidjan from the same concert. You’ll never be the same.
