Thank you for the short and informative video. I recently bought a crossbow, I've only ever shot bows or guns before, and none of my friends or family have had a crossbow before so this has been a huge help!

Another great video with much needed instructions! Take it from me who's experienced a near traumatic thumb amputation, you should install some "finger reminder" guards to your crossbow. Barnett sent them to me at no charge when they heard I'd had an accident with my JACKAL. There are several law firms including one in Dallas, TX, that have class action law suites against Barnett and so they're going out of there way to include all kinds of safety warnings and labels on their new crossbows.

Thank you for mentioning the safety behind the cocking-rope around the neck. My girlfriend has been getting into archery, so I bought her a small rifle to practice on. Now that she's moved on to compound bows, that was the first lesson I taught her and I feel like it isn't stressed enough. Whether it's target or hunting, safety is paramount and I appreciate that lesson you reminded us of. Happy shooting!

I just dug my Barnett Thunderbolt out of my closet.I Never used it more than a few times. I recall it shredded the bolts when I hit the foam target. Very flipping powerful ! I tried to cock it by hand. No way. I don't recall it being so hard to do. But you have to be a superman to pull it back. I guess I was stronger many years ago. I was trying to find a cocking lever on it. But there were no pins, slides or anything. I now have to buy the cocking device you show. I had no idea they were so dangerous, at both ends ! Thanks for this solution.

When it comes to dealing with any kind of forward firing weapon, the number one rule is if you are doing something that can lead to injury or death to yourself or someone else you are handling it wrong. Safety first. Nice video.

The crossbow went together quickly and the general fit and finish is a bit above what I expected for the price. ua-cam.com/users/postUgkx5B43Qabqt1HedUJyfEqxiwBCfaooIH52 The adjustable stock is a little loose. I had an issue when I tried to cock the bow for the first time with the safety on. The string set in the trap box, held just enough to build up enough tension to rip the string out of my hands when it let go. No significant damage was done, and once I got it sighted in, I wrecked a couple bolts by sending one straight down the shaft of the first. I'm holding ~2" groups at around 50 yards, and I'm not an expert by any means. Best part is that they supply all the replacements parts you may ever need

Get the cocking rope as short as you can, that will help. Also, it's just a different muscle group than most people use daily. I bet if you worked out those muscles for 2 weeks you'll be cocking it no problem.

Some cocking ropes are different than others. Some have side rollers that ride along the side of the rail. These ones may have a specific direction. If the hooks are directly inline with the rope and there aren't any side rollers, I don't think it matters much. But always go with what the manufacturer says.
