Quite educative for me, being a first-time crossbow user. Pretty much cover ever thing I needed to read in the manual. 100% recommended for crossbow users and enthusiast
Awesome review, as someone new to crossbows you made a lot of points i hadn't heard anywhere else. Just picked one of these up today, can't wait to get out in the field!
My second time watching this review, I'm ordering this crossbow at the end of the month, I can't wait to learn how to bow hunt I've always hunted with a rifle. Awesome video and review! I just subscribed! Keep making videos!
Great video. I bought this crossbow for my wife and glad to see you giving it a positive review. We're looking forward to putting it to the test in a few weeks.
Great video, so good went out and bought the bow. And very happy with product. Does everything it's supposed to. Great deal for the money. Can't wait until hunting s seasons thanks Barnett.
Got this for Christmas, my first cross bow. Normally a gun enthusiast but yeah wanted one and my wife got me this one. I like everything but the noise and the scope. I hope when I purchase the riser it helps. Thanks for your insight.
I got mine two seasons ago from Walmart for 175 on clearance. Shot two 130+ inch GA bucks with it last year. Love mine. Upgraded my scope to the Hawk scope. Wasp crossbow broad heads
Dang what a deal that was a find for sure, nice job with the bucks man that is just a testament to how good this bow is for the money. I’ve looked at that scope several times it may the one that ends up on my bow next year. Keep it Blue Collar!
@@bluecollaroutdoors5556 Where the scope really shines is the extra stand time at last light. With the illuminated cross hairs you get 10 to 15 more minutes on stand. With the factory scope you can see deer perfectly fine with the naked eye but the black cross hairs are gone if you pull up on a deer. If you are still shooting factory Barnett bolts I also recommend Pro Hunter After burn lighted nocks. .297 to 302 ID. Half the coat and brighter than the big name brand nocks. Oh and both bucks dropped in their tracks. No trailing.
You are very welcome I’m glad you liked it. I will be posting more videos about that crossbow in the future, and more hunting vids, so please look out for those, this one is great for the price. Thanks for checking out the video, and keep it Blue Collar!
Appreciate the video Sir! I just ordered one from Amazon, it's my first crossbow. Looking for any tips for a rookie beginner. I'm going deer hunting this season in Fannin County Georgia.
Yeah mine had about 5-6 inches of eye relief too. I use this as a backup for my compound bow. I killed a buck with it in 2020. Probably the best value out there.
Thanks for the review and your pro/cons opinion about this crossbow. I am going to purchase this for my son and I think he'll like it. I'll check out your other videos about this crossbow to learn more. Have a Merry Christmas. Enjoyed a full-watch and gave it a big thumbs-up. 👍🏽🙂
This quite a good video, does this bow fully integrate for 'left handed' people.. I'm also tall with long arms. Hope so, not a nightmare of 'mods' Thank you
I made my first archery kill yesterday morning - using a Barnett Whitetail Hunter STR. Liver shot on a doe at 30 yards. She ran about 50 yards and dropped dead. Arrow passed through ribs on both sides. I've had it just over a year. I like it. It's a great starter!
Couple more things: I got it for under $300 on amazon last year. Mine shoots the broadheads about 6 inches low at 30 yards. This requires an aiming adjustment by going down one reticle on the scope.
I got a Barnett Raptor Pro STR. Virtually identical to this. Previous model, maybe? Anyway, could I swap out the stock hooks for the cocking sled from another crossbow?
My dad has a serious back injury and has to get a spinal fusion and he said he might give it to me so my 13yr old self is hoping to get it so I’m watching videos praying I will get it 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
I really loved your in depth coverage / explanatory video of the STR however I would add that the cranking mechanism is extremely hard to crank …I sent it back as it was a pita to turn ! 😜
You are right about the scope positioning …I had to push the scope to its max position our forward with included mounts to attain a usable sighting position with full extended butt stock and it’s still not to my liking
Good review! I have and like Barnett crossbows but I see a lot of people talking down the Halo scope, never any reason but just say to switch it out. What are your thoughts on the Halo scope? My feeling is as long as I can get the crosshairs to match up consistently to a certain yardage I'm good but I would like to hear your feeling on it.
Thanks David, the halo scope is ok, I’ve used it on the crossbow for 2 seasons and I have killed several deer with it so it does the job. It is definitely not the best quality but it is simple and works.
Hey nice video. I bought this same crossbow about a month ago and have the same issue with the scope having too long of an aperature distance (I cant seem to move it far enough forward). Where did you get those scope rings? It seems like I need to move my scope forward about another inch to inch and a half. Thanks!

Do you have an issue with the Halo illumination? At dusk, even on lowest brightness, the illumination overpowers the view and I see nothing through the scope.

As long as you aren't putting something stupid high end and expensive on $650+ these previously mentioned two are what a vast majority of what people use including myself.
Has anyone ever heard about the trigger getting stuck and getting it fixed and it’s not the anti dry fire feature that is a problem I have at the moment I can’t find anything on it is like I’m the only one
I got the Whitetail Hunter Pro while it was on sale from Amazon last year and I’ve killed 2 deer with it. I had never killed deer with archery equipment until I bought one. No need to break the bank. Get a Barnett.
Have you had any trouble getting the arrow to seat so that it pushes up the safety mechanism out of the way so you can switch to fire? Mine is very touchy it seems. This is my second crossbow I have owned and never had this issue before.
Robert, that really sucks man that the limbs are already splitting, I would reach out to Barnett directly and see if they warranty the product or give you options for repair, good luck man!
The crossbow is still going strong I had it out recently testing out some new bolts. The only wear spot that I have noticed is the center serving on the string. It’s still not terrible but you can tell it’s wearing, but this is a typical hot spot for wear on most bows.
After watching your review I purchased the Barnett Stalker 405 from Academy Sports and Outdoors. Mine has an extendable “AR” style butt stock that extends a little over 2” making it very comfortable and giving me the eye relief I needed without moving the scope. The 405 also came with the crank cocking device. I had a Nikon scope on my other crossbow but this one is probably as good. Great crossbow for the money.
Rick, that adjustable stock is a really nice feature, I may look into other crossbows to review soon. That 405 seems like a good deal for all the features you get, good luck with it man!
I have the same crossbow shoat it thru a chronometer @ 22 inches, it suppose to be 375 fps, and it was giving me 350 fps, shoat it 8 times and it was the same, , don't know why.
