  • The Sloppy Joe... A sandwich made of ground beef, onions, maybe some bell peppers are thrown in there, some spices, and Worcestershire sauce all mixed together in a tomato sauce atop a hamburger bun. Mmm. Wait NO! Today we’re talking about a different way of getting sloppy - through drink, and a tropical number called the Sloppy Joe's Special Cocktail! Cheers!
    OR another kind of sloppy - you get a big rare cut of meat with water dumped all over it. Makes the night so much more fun.They'd say "No Sloppy Steaks" but they can't stop you from ordering a steak and a glass of water and just dump that water on those steaks! SLOPPY STEAKS 4EVR!

    I've been to Sloppy Joe's in Key West. I wasn't old enough to drink when I was there, so I don't know if it was still on the menu. At least the sandwiches were great! Fun fact, when they moved from their original location to their current location in the 1930's, Ernest Hemingway took one of their old urinals and put it in his garden as a fountain. I actually saw the urinal in the garden of the Hemingway House. Both are well worth the visit if you're in Key West.

    I should make a Cuban cocktail playlist, whenever we have a Cuban moment here in Miami I should prepare a Cuban cocktail.

    Bruce and company, you knocked it out of the park with the history, especially like it due to the locale as Havana, Cuba. Will try this. Hemingway's House & cats in Key West is worth the visit! Going to go back & watch your ep.38 Hemingway Special & ep.67 Cuban Getaway.

    The Iowa version is not a Sloppy Joe. It's called a Loose-meat Sandwich (I'm not kidding). Same basic core, but minus the tomato sauce.

    Ha, did not know you have an Islay Scotch Whisky in your bar. 😁👍 What do you make with these smokers?

    • @BarTalkCocktails
      @BarTalkCocktails  Рік тому +1

      Where do I begin with scotch? Most of the time I enjoy a small sipper neat, as simple as that. Though I do enjoy a Nail or a Rob Roy from time to time. Also, you can't go wrong with a Scotch Sour. It's unlike any whiskey sour you’ve ever tasted. It's smoky, peaty, and irresistible. And, I occasionally make a Blood & Sand for myself. It's light and semi-sweet, balanced with a cherry-forward flavour. In the future, I'll have to experiment and come up with some new modern classics. Cheers!

      @@BarTalkCocktails Great, will look this recipes up! - In the summer, I make sometimes a slushy: coffee liqueur, a smokey and peaty Islay whisky (Laphroaig) and mixed with slushed ice in a blender. 😁👍 I call it the "Smoffey Slushy", for "smokey" and "coffee". 😉
