Unless you're a healer or tank don't even consider doing 51-60 via dungeons. 61-80 is mostly grinding out the highest level dungeon you can, with the exception of level 70 dungeons, class quests and MSQ+Leveling roulette gets you to 71.

For level 71-80, I personally just used the trust system!! It does take a bit longer than your methods, but it’s a good way to get extra EXP alongside what you get from roulettes!! I’m not the most social person, so I prefer doing my dungeons solo and having the trust system available is awesome!!
I recently unlocked the trust system like in the past week or so but haven't did any yet. I less its a dungeon I really need help through I should try it out!
I think the main issue with alts is DPS. Healers and Tanks can pretty much spam the highest level dungeon (that are not 50/60/70) until cap with some side stuff if they burned out. Personally, I can't stand deep dungeons. Fortunately, the only time where's impossible to avoid them for those who want to level the fastest way possible is in the 60-71 range. I still rather level slower than to either POTD or HOH. Squadrons can easily replace POTD between 20-60. About armory bonus: you get it as long as your alt level doesn't catch up with your highest level job, so if your alt is lvl 1 and your highest is 10 you will get the bonus until you reach lvl 10. It's good practice to cap at 1 job because then you won't ever lose the bonus. This is what I'm doing for all alts (particularly DPS, since Healers and Tanks don't have queue issues): 1-16 - Adamantoise Tears levequest - if you run out of allowances you can do the hunt log, but this is way faster. 16 - Leveling duty roulette - it's worth even if you get a long queue as DPS. With all the exp bonus you will get at least 4 levels, even if you don't have the preferred server bonus. 20 - 60 - Squadrons. This trumps POTD in my opinion. Even if you get slightest lower exp, at least is not as boring. It's also good so you can get the basics of a new job you're not comfortable with. 60-71 - 1-16 aside, this is the worst level range because there's literally nothing besides HOH for DPS power leveling. All you can do is stormblood hunts and beast tribes. Also, don't forget your daily roullettes (leveling and main scenario. Alliance radis are good too, once you get the required level) . Do at least one of them once you get the required levels, the exp is ridiculously good. This goes for all level ranges, but is specially important here, due to lack of good options for those who don't want to do HOH. 71-80 - Hunts are ok, Pixies give really good exp. Bozja is great. Trust is a option to avoid long queues, but they are nowhere near as good as squadrons. Once you get here, the hard part is over, this level range has so many good options, it's a breeze. You can complement this with challenge logs. You can spam the "Under the Armor" for the guildheist bonus. Queues are short even for DPS and it takes less than a minute to complete. You can also do low level FATES and levequests for an easy exp bonus. There's also wondrous Tales. You can grab the book and do all the stuff with your main and hand it back to Khloe with your alt, and all the exp goes to them.
For your alt classes, you can use Grand Company Squadrons to level. Once you have them leveled and Offensive 4/5 tactics, they are blind, idiot gods of destruction. Mechanics? Nah we don't do those. Get a CNJ, GLD and 2 ACNs and you can semi-AFK through dungeons.
If you're willing to suffer through Frontline, it is such a massive way to level 30-60. I was getting nearly 2 levels worth of exp for running that through my 30s and slowed down to about 75% of a level by the high 50s. 56+.
Nice info here neighbor . . . Again, thx for the ideas, I'm returning and starting all over and will use these and some of the ideas from the comments to assist me on my way . . .
It should also be mentioned that you should also be doing what is the moost fun for you. I myself have found that I enjoy spamming dungeons over and over again. Well except a couple few in ARR (Qarn, thousand maws), but it's otherwise how I enjoy leveling my other stuff
Oh my GOSH LOL COLE - My old FC used to be you're FC neighbor in the Goblet! We were ! I had no idea you made videos! Ty for the lvling help. I hope you're well!
PvP is a very underrated form of leveling imo. My boyfriend, who is extremely casual, got his dragoon to 80 solely through playing pvp while he was still doing Hevansward msq lol he was just grinding wolf marks for pvp gear
I started as gladiator, lvld to 44 pld then switched to whm. Over 2 years later, I’m an Omni80 healer main. Other than lvling pld I don’t play the job.
My favorite thing to get past the 50-51, 60-61 and 70-71 as well as 79-80 is doing Wondrous Tails. You do 9 pieces of content (which you can unsync) them swap to the class you're leveling to turn it in. It's a weekly thing but it ALWAYS gives 1/2 of the current level's worth of XP. So ideally you could PotD or HoH or Bozja until halfway, them bump to the next level. Or save it for 79 1/2.
I left right after 5.1 dropped because IRL said "no ffxiv". So coming back I didn't want to finish up the MSQ. I wanted to level a pretty WHM and cast the sparkly heals! So this is awesome. But now I have to go unlock Bozja, so I guess I'll be questing anyway. Gnarly guide, man, many thanks to you.
The only issue with POTD is that you need your job stone before you can use skills that the job learns. If you're just going in as a base class, it's not worth going past floor 20 because you'll be about level 30 by that point.
@@a.garcha199 I was commenting on the part where he said that you can get a feel for how your class plays by doing this. A level 60 rogue is gong to play a lot differently from a level 60 ninja.
Do daily roulettes, from 70-80 you can gain 2 lvls / day. This includes frontline. Note: you can que for frontline with whichever job you want exp for, then once inside you can switch jobs to one you’re more comfortable with and you’ll still get exp for the job you qued as.
I’d say probably only do roulettes for 71-80 either if you just want to get the class up immediately or have every other class in that level range as in my experience, you can get a good 4-8 levels in a day off Zadnor alone and the best part is it doesn’t seem to use your rested xp, thereby leaving it to be more efficient for pre-71 classes to use the roulettes.
As someone who has been playing since the release of 2.0 I cant say I envy all of the new players when it comes to levelling alt jobs. When you do hit the cap on all of them though , its smooth sailing each expansion for levelling to the new cap.
as a long time vet i would recommend this for first timers 1-50: hunt log, questing, fates, levequests, guildhests, dungeons, palace of the dead, and story will be your best friends. 50-70 same formula as above (levelquest only available up to level 60 however and no continuation of guildhests after 50 ) hunts will be tied to clan centurio, certain fates will reward more exp an give you an exp gained buff by killing a special mob, incorporate roulettes, Heaven on High after you complete a story quest an have at least one level 61 job, frontline PvP will also give good junks of exp, and daily beast tribe quests reward decent exp. and then lastly 70-80: do all the things (no levequest or guildhests however are available ) above hunts tied to another clan "clan nutsy", the Trust System can help you avoid que wait times but it does take a couple more minutes per run compared to player skill levels but you get all loot drops for yourself to get gear for alt jobs an misc to sell on market board, you can do the Bozian southern front only on alt jobs after completing patch 6.0 story questline but keep in mind this is not a casual friendly zone some enemies will murder you in one or two hits if you aggro them be prepared. and after all this is unlocked your first go around you will have gained a huge armory and path to 80 exp gain buff to alternative jobs an also do not forget to log out in a city or town area (usually marked by having a big Crytal Aetheryte in them this will give you further exp buffing via rested exp, and use food, free company buff if you are in a guild, grand company buff rewarded to you via squadron missions, friendship armlet from invite a friend campaign, brand new ring from tutorial arena, and if you can afford it update your game to collector's edition for some awesome leveling accessories one which will carry all the way up to level 80.
1-17 get a healer friend and boost at sapsa spawning grounds. takes like 15 minutes to get to lvl15 you can keep going but by 15 you just run dungeons. Just give them a shield and let them agro the mobs then you one shot them. Only thing is you cant be in the same party.
i do everything, all roulettes everyday, and while waiting for queues im out doing hunts and beast tribes; buuuuuut that dungeon tip i did not know! ill have to give it a try, thank you!
It’ll also help you figure out classes that will start you at higher levels. I don’t go tanks but wanted to try out gunbreaker so I ran it on palace of the dead to try and figure out the job and started it at level 1
@@MrTNBassmaster yeah im doing 20 to 50 in around 20 runs or so, i believe you could go to 60 but at 50 i normally farm faiths in hw for relic weapons. Its insanely powerful. Heya Cole. I've been working pretty hard on the topic of leveling, and have made a bunch of discoveries on how you can really speed level. For one, Blue Mage friends can use Ultravibration to speed level you so hard you can go from 1 to 30 in as little as 1 hour. Furthermore, there's some levequest abuse, and killing level 80 mobs as a level 1 job stuff you can also do. If you'd like to have a write up on this information and more, let me know!
@@leonard9624 Sure. Basically if you're in a party with a high level player, and you start a leve quest. They can carry out the objective for you. The strategy is simply to activate any levequest that involves killing mobs, then having them kill them in less than 15 seconds, and without you moving from the spot, you just turn in the levequest. Rinse Repeat

i did math, on levels on my astro from 50-80. - Leveling roulette gives cca 30% ( of your current (0-100) max xp bar) - level 50/60/70 dungeons give 5% +-3% - Trials 15% +-5% - MSQ 30/50 +-2% (castrum gives 30%, while praetorium gives 30%, around level 50-53 castrum is better, because ton of mobs that give relatable xp) - Alliance raid gives 30% +- (crystal tower gives more than HW alliance raids - and its faster) - normal raids give 4-8%

Honestly it’s a little slow and tedious but if you have a job that’s high enough you should go unlock wonderous tails especially if you’re going to run dungeons anyway to level up. Odds are you’re going to end up finishing the book while doing roulettes and turning in a finished book gives you a decent amount of exp too. What’s nice is that you can basically turn it in with any job you have as well (although I do believe it has to be over a certain level). Two birds with one stone
One tip I can share as a old timer player, To speed past the dead zones in leveling for alt jobs specifically, (which is basically getting to lvl cap+1, so getting to 51,61,71) just spam the last story dungeon available (should take you about 3 runs to level your exp bar) from the prior expansion so Aurum Vale, Gubal Library, Castrum Abania and for Endwalker assuming nothing is changed then you'll want to do the lvl 79 dungeon until you hit 81 (assuming you have an alt at lvl 80 that you want to get to 81 via dungeon spamming). This for alt jobs only however as doing the MSQ can normally get you to lvl cap+1 very easily and this only applies if you can't stomach leveling alternatives (Leves being used for DoH/L or you're burned out on PoTD/HoH or fate spamming or Rep grinding with the Beastmen tribes).
It's funny that you use GLD & MCH as an example - back when Final Steps of Faith was new, I ran as a Paladin all the way through ARR, then dropped everything, including the MSQ, to level Machinist; it's been my main ever since

I think the best way is to rush role jobs to 50 asap. like Paladin + Warrior + Dark Knight to 50, get Ironworks set. then sell all equipments for Tanks below 50. This saves armory management headache.
Something I want to point out for lvls 1-14 or so: You can just get a Scholar friend to take you to Azys La and beat up the clockwork knights while shielding you, since the battle exp from them actually isn't terrible. For this to work, don't form a party and let the scholar give you an Adloquiem, and hit something first. After that the scholar can just ruin 2 and kill them instantly but you get all the exp. Probably better than having to do PotD
You can't go wrong with ACN, branches out to a healer and dps which levels at the same time. Both of them are quirky but really fun to play. Tank wise, it will depend on your taste.
If you like playing a tank with an extremely high DPS burst window and some good self-healing, then pick Marauder/Warrior. If you wanna protect your allies maximally, then pick Paladin. If you wanna do tons of AoE attacks, then pick Dark Knight. If you wanna do a lot of consistent DPS while tanking, then pick Gunbreaker.
Let me just tell you why I quit the game before, I did the so called leveling guide crap and got burned out. This game is not like other mmo's there is no reason to rush! seriously, this is my second try at the game, I used to play when the cap was level 50 and got a few jobs to 50 just to get bored, now they are so many things in the game and I am just cruising enjoying the content, main story, side story, fame leveling, squadrons so much to do, seriously take your time, what's the point to rush to level 80 just to be sitting in Limo emoting... or burn yourself out...
Well, it’s not you reach level 80 and you are done. I can get “easily” the iLV 530 BiS weapon. Oh, look at that. Let’s try to get the BiS from savages…at least some pieces. HOLY MOLY!! That tank looks awesome!! I want me too that glamour!! Wait what? 150k gil only for this piece. It’s time to raise up my crafters then. Oh…geez. I’m running out of my gil now…ok let’s craft some coffee biscuits. And what is this? Firmament…oh subarahiiii. I want this, and this…could this be useful? NVM, I want it. And this job what the hell is? Blue Mage? Can I have those spells? Let’s do it!! Why ppl are flying all together? Train hunt? What’s for? Easily farming Tomestone? And nuts for smth that I don’t need but looks cool and I want because of this? :0. Yeah, that was my experience. @@ColossusBall yes, but the main job doesn’t have to be really outleveling other jobs or be at max level (as said in video) - being 1 level ahead is enough to get the full exp bonus on your other characters. Which means that any job that isnt the highest level gets it
What are roulettes? Sry, only started a few days ago. And btw what is routine? I always see a message saying your routine has increased by 50% but it feels like nothing has happened.
(Duty) Roulettes are daily random queues in the duty finder for: expert(endgame) dungeons/leveling dungeons/50-60-70 dungeons/trials and many more. Especially the leveling dungeon roulette gives you a big batch of routine (experience) once per day. If your routines has increased by 50% that means either you've made half a level or you mean the message in the chat when you kill a normal mob or a dungeon boss in which case it is displaying your bonus experience.
Thanks for the guide. Do you know if it's possible to gain access and use the pre-order bonus rewards from the Endwalker expansion while on a free trial account?
Then there's me. A sprout lvling a tank with the story up to lvl 54 and regretting playing a tank now catching on a dragoon slow af cuz I don't have any max lvl xp buffs or xp gear
I personally don’t feel like FF should be rushed to max level like wow, enjoying the journey is the real enjoyment and I love every part of it, but that’s just my opinion 😊
You don’t have to be playing a specific job to get the rewards for relic weapon. You can work on the Samurai weapon while playing Bard for example. You’re just running POTD, Crystal Tower Raids, Fates, etc.
@@RathVantas I would. As someone who regrets using a healer as my first job, I recommend using a DPS job to progress the MSQ. Getting into dungeons for exp as a tank or healer is pretty quick so its a good idea to use a DPS job for MSQ unless you really want to play as tank or healer. For reference, with the buff active, my healer was at level 60 before I even made it to Heavensward. I switched over to Summoner and Black Mage, leveled them to 50, and began Heavensward. By the time I completed the story, both were level 60 from MSQ exp. I did the same through Stormblood.
@@starlight_937 ok cool ty for response - I am a bit late in trying the strategy since I am at 70 while just finishing Heavensward but I may level up some alts to 60 to be able to take advantage of the post HW and SB xp since I’m on preferred server

Blizzard can't do anything right, can they?
I think FF XIV, unlike many others mmo, take you by hand when it's up to level. Basically it's all about doing main scenario and when u clear an expansion u go with the dungeon of that expansion.
Hopping into PotD at 17 will let you see what it may be like to be level 60, but you won't have a job soul so you won't be able to do everything your job allows you to do. This is from the perspective of someone starting the game fresh, and not leveling an expansion job of course.
@@professorchaos5058 then you won't get to a point beyond 60 that makes this guide that useful. It may help getting other jobs to 60 but you won't find to many guides that cater to lvl 60 free trial because most pay to keep playing
No mention of Frontline roulette? It gives you more XP than main scenario, takes very little time if you do it during peak pvp hours, and you don’t even have to play the class you entered as. Also while Palace and HoH are good for leveling dps characters, with food and item buffs it’s is better by a longshot to just do dungeons as a healer or tank as your queue times are nothing.
I partially agree with dungeon grinding as tank or healer... Because you can get a mediocre group that wipes sometimes or your healer is new and you have to do the packs one by one, or thr tank is new and you he will do small pulls. HoH and PotD are most of the time faster and more reliable. But i never recommend PotD and instead i recommend squadron command missions. The npc can solo the entire instance if they want to it is broken af.
As someone who was among the very first, if not the first on cerberus hitting 80 on all classes i can tell you, the amount of sweat and grossness is unmatched, this was from 70 however so not the longest journey, but still hella sweaty.
Alright, but here's what I'm trying to figure out. Which is more efficient, leveling one class straight to 80 one by one? Or say, level classes evenly, like say get alt jobs to 50, cycle through and get them to 70 and etc?
Because you can't possibly have good squadrons in your first month of playing FFXIV. And they are hot garbage before they are powered up - they don't do mechanics, your char will outlevel them, etc.
@@benjaminbaer5485 true if you want to grind all your jobs asap when you start playing then squadrons will suck. If you however want to take a slower approach then they are extremely good, especially if they have their corresponding orders unlocked to the max.
Totally agree. I could get sometimes 3 levels in a single dungeon and not even finish that dungeon! Squadrons kick ass!
Acn is what?

Haha I only level with pvp. But I'm a day 1 pvper. It's awesome because you don't waste any money on armor.
As a video with 13:37 length, this is verified elite gamer content
I left right after 5.1 dropped because IRL said "no ffxiv". So coming back I didn't want to finish up the MSQ. I wanted to level a pretty WHM and cast the sparkly heals! So this is awesome.

MY FOOTAGE DIED AT 4:50 WHAT!?!??!! URHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH... awkward.
The only issue with POTD is that you need your job stone before you can use skills that the job learns.
If you're just going in as a base class, it's not worth going past floor 20 because you'll be about level 30 by that point.
? You just repeat floors 51 to 60, with +70 armour and weapons you can still clear fine with starting class, just did rogue and lancer recently.
When you do hit the cap on all of them though , its smooth sailing each expansion for levelling to the new cap.
exactly. they don't realize how easy they have it. especially the doh and dol jobs.
as a long time vet i would recommend this for first timers
1-50: hunt log, questing, fates, levequests, guildhests, dungeons, palace of the dead, and story will be your best friends.
Didn't know the deep dungeon gave you a feel for the high level of the class and job so that really is nice for people to test what they want to run
It’ll also help you figure out classes that will start you at higher levels. I don’t go tanks but wanted to try out gunbreaker so I ran it on palace of the dead to try and figure out the job and started it at level 1

awesome vid btw Cole very informative thanks for sharing your personal go to leveling methods :D
What is the levequest abuse? Care to explain or make a vid?
@@leonard9624 Sure. Basically if you're in a party with a high level player, and you start a leve quest. They can carry out the objective for you. The strategy is simply to activate any levequest that involves killing mobs, then having them kill them in less than 15 seconds, and without you moving from the spot, you just turn in the levequest. Rinse Repeat
That strat needs another player involved tho.
@@leonard9624 It does, but that's not a hard requirement

No way.
I did everything in this video (granted I'm not on a preferred world but still) and it still took me about 5-6 days to max White Mage. I did roulette's daily and ran dungeons nonstop.
Shadowbringers FATEs are definitely a great option as well since you will want to max those out regardless.
Really useful! Thank you.
I do the clan hunts also daily. It adds up.
Time of video checks out
in my opinion everything but the leveling roulette and the frontlines roulette are the only leveling options that exist. after that, spam dungeons till youre sick of it.
I've just been going through all the side quests I've been ignoring during my MSQ days. They are surprisingly profitable for Gil as well.
i did math, on levels on my astro from 50-80.
- Leveling roulette gives cca 30% ( of your current (0-100) max xp bar)
- level 50/60/70 dungeons give 5% +-3%
- Trials 15% +-5%
- MSQ 30/50 +-2% (castrum gives 30%, while praetorium gives 30%, around level 50-53 castrum is better, because ton of mobs that give relatable xp)
- Alliance raid gives 30% +- (crystal tower gives more than HW alliance raids - and its faster)
- normal raids give 4-8%
Thanks for this
I'm just awestruck by 1:11. The tank actually stood in the Asylum. Every time I do that, it's like I dropped a puddle of lava on the ground. 🤔 My tank always makes SURE to pull the mob and themselves out of it... even at the *end* of a wall-to-wall pull. 😒😒😒
Oh god. Me too. I wait until they are still. Drop it then they seem to be like "we dont need your Asylum" and run away
Pvps kinda banging if you get a good group. Plus the glams you can get with wolf marks are nice aswell.
Cat Daddy? 😆 I renamed my Hrothgar, Cat Daddy a couple of weeks ago.
This for alt jobs only however as doing the MSQ can normally get you to lvl cap+1 very easily and this only applies if you can't stomach leveling alternatives (Leves being used for DoH/L or you're burned out on PoTD/HoH or fate spamming or Rep grinding with the Beastmen tribes).
that description is something
It's funny that you use GLD & MCH as an example - back when Final Steps of Faith was new, I ran as a Paladin all the way through ARR, then dropped everything, including the MSQ, to level Machinist; it's been my main ever since
this really needs to just be a text guide, its all over the place

Especially the leveling dungeon roulette gives you a big batch of routine (experience) once per day.

Would you recommend this for a new player or just stick to one job your first time to 70
@@RathVantas I would. As someone who regrets using a healer as my first job, I recommend using a DPS job to progress the MSQ. Hopping into PotD at 17 will let you see what it may be like to be level 60, but you won't have a job soul so you won't be able to do everything your job allows you to do. This is from the perspective of someone starting the game fresh, and not leveling an expansion job of course.

@@benjaminbaer5485 true if you want to grind all your jobs asap when you start playing then squadrons will suck.
