It's kinda crazy that just a couple days ago, NASA managed to restore communications with Voyager 1, a real-life probe in interstellar space that inspired this game. The probe went dark (well, more like was sending gibberish data) a few months ago.
Honestly, a planet sized life form needing to use Mimicry to do anything is kinda horrifying, not for their use of mimicry to catch prey but to avoid predators.
My question is, why is a planet sized lifeform hunting tiny little spacecraft in the void? How did it know to mimic earth, what earth looked like? Perhaps the entity isn't hunting the spacecraft for food, but rather information... information on a bigger target...
@@NevernamedThe thing was probably just mimicking a random habitable planet. and my guess is that it preys on aliens that are also looking for habitable planets
I don't think you ever have to actually turn off life support. The last mission requires you to use navigation and thrusters but you can use navigation then turn it off and then turn on thrusters, you don't need both active.

Thats junji itos work right? I remember it being absolutely fantastical but ig so are his other works, that one just on a larger scale. Less horrific to me and more freaky and goofy like you said.
It's actually not required to ever turn the life support off in Voyager 19. You only need to run navigation when setting a course, and the thrusters when going there. Similarly, when taking pictures, you can swap between thrusters and the camera to align your ship for photos. It's very fidgety, but it is entirely possible to finish the game without ever turning life support of if you are willing to deal with swapping things on and off constantly.
i honestly love this type of eerie cryptic horror games set in space, I love the concept of the unknown, piecing eerie clues together until the thing you're tryng to understand comes at you
What I love about PyroLIVE is that thr main output is unapologetically slop but sometimes on a bright blue moon during a leap year, a McDonald's Happy Meal will suddenly pop out of the trough chute and we actually get to enjoy a taste of main channel content. It's like giving a homeless man peruvian coke every once in awhile in addition to his weekly fentanyl delivery
reminds me of a little horror game called duskers, you play as a drone pilot in a universe were seemingly all life has vanished except for you and you are left to scavenge for resources and hopefully an answer to what happened. would love to see pyro play that game.
Most of those recorded planet noises are really close to what real planets produce when their magnetic waves are converted to sound waves. Now this is terrifying.
For an animal of that kind of planetary size to expand THAT much energy to stalk (for more than SIXTY YEARS, not to mention the fact that it must take a HELL of a lot of energy to get that planet-sized monstrosity to unfold and actually start moving) Only to end up hunting and eating a measly ship with only one person on board. It feels like this animal, no matter what kind of apex predator it is, is also on it's last limbs trying to stave off it's own death (and potential extinction) by eating anything it can get it's tentacles on. Which could suggest this creature or creatures of this kind of nature are also experiencing the rapid decline of life in the universe? Which is depressing, but also even more horrifying in retrospect since this implies that these animals are getting desperate. Could there be other lifeforms out there going through such desperate measures to extend their species longevity? Species similar to humans, or even more monstrous and ungodly creatures our feeble, weak, human minds couldn't even begin to comprehend? (Edit: One thing I noticed is that the creature itself, the false planet, seems to be going through stages of metamorphosis throughout the course of the game, which is approximately sixty years or so. We see this weird orb-thing go from being patchy and having holes, along with lines which define each tentacle, but as we spend longer in hibernation, going further out into the universe, the creature seems to grow more and more camouflaged before taking on it's final form of a fake earth. A pseudo habitable planet to lure unsuspecting victims in.)

Pyro has honestly made it in my opinion. Just make one video a year summarising the plot of a game. Then just clickbate your slop and never lose. It’s scummy but profitable
fun fact, you dont need to turn off life support, you can do navigation first then do the thrusters after you give the power to that from the navigation. this is because you dont actually need both navigation and thrusters on at once, you can give your destination then close the tab and use thrusters after you turn it off
the life support doesn't even have to be turned off btw, you can preset navigation and turn it off after to use thrusters, making the lifesupport mechanic redundant.
You don't need Thrusters and Nav. toggled to travel. You can put a course on with the navs. turn it off, power the thrusters and press "Launch" to follow the designated route you selected when the nav. was turned on. Basically you can cheese the "gameplay gimmick"
yoooo not slop? thats unexpected, but welcome, I'd love for this channel to be a smaller version of the main channel, with small projects so pyro doesn't burn out.

The Mimic Planet reminds me of the brethren Moons from Dead Space. The mimic tricked and lured you by pretending to be a habitable planet (or just an interesting one), while the brethren moons tricked you to research the markers and turned you into raw material for a new moon.
In the part where you "need to turn off your life support", you actually dont have to do that. Do it one at a time, firstly turn on navigation and line up with a celestial body, then turn it off and turn on the thrusters and fly to the body. It isnt required for both navigation and thrusters to be active at the same time to work. Navigation navigates you, thrusters move you.
the jumpscare was nice there could have been a way to stop yourself from dying temporarilly (aka you get time to escape if you turn off nav and life support once you check the cam you can see it far away if you look in the right direction, but by the time life supp comes back you already have to run again so even looking at the thing chasing you could make you die unless you perfectly time it) If a sequel gets made there could be new software that later allows you to automatically turn back life support and nav when needed so escape and manuvering could become part of the game as you figure out what the thing really is (hiding behind planets to observe the thing instead of it observing you could be cool too)
